affordabledisney.com?

My mother-in-law pointed me to this site "affordabledisney.com" which seems to be a travel agency, claiming to find the best deals for a Disney trip. However, they require a $50 membership fee, which makes me skeptical. Has anyone used this site? Was your experience good?

I'm traveling with my family of 5, plus both grandparents and a sister (add'l 5). We plan to stay in the Polynesian in October. I've gotten three quotes: Disney, AAA and a Disney travel agent (that was free). AAA gave me the best deal so far. It seems like most "deals" or discounts apply only to the value resorts.

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks,

MamaK

How much of a better deal was it with AAA and was that for room only or full MYW package? Sorry, I know you were the one asking for the advice, but we always use CAA (Canadian AAA) too and I always wondered how much we saved by using them.

Save your $50 and call Kingdom Konsultants. There are quite a few tricks to getting the best deal (travel dates, AP discounts, promotions, etc) and they know them all. For the most part when you do a straight price comparison between AAA, Disney and your average travel agent AAA will almost always come out ahead, but when you start looking into promotions, AP discounts etc there are a number of instances where you can beat AAA.

This is great advice too! I have thought about this for our next trip, next year. They should be able to save me more than I do on my own. :)

Kingdom Konsultants has saved me money over the AAA rate, based on the promotions and other discounts that they stay on top of at all times. I've stopped looking now and trust KK with all of my WDW reservations - and they've never disappointed me!

Thanks for all the input (and link to Kingdom Konsultants). I actually have already talked with Small World Vacations... would they be about the same as "Kingdom"?

To the person who asked about the AAA discount, I was booking the entire package and they saved me just under 10% of the entire cost, but I didn't look into the details of whether the discount was room-only or on the package... I was just interested in the bottom line.

Our package thru Disney is about $4300 (7 days at the Poly with dining and tix, beginning of Oct 08). AAA saved between $300-400 for us.

From my research, that site is very similar to The Mouse For Less, and may also publish an e-book and newsletter, but they charge a membership fee.

They do have a travel agent associated with them.

Save your money!

Could someone please explain KK to me? We hardly ever travel...but will be taking a Disney Package vacation...how does booking everything work through KK versus calling Disney direct?

Thanks! :)

KK is a travel agency that specialized in WDW vacations.

If you were to all Disney direct and ask to book a certain week, they will happly take your money and give you a room.

Someone like KK will look at the deatails and mention that there is a special promotion going on and if you can book your trip a week later there is free dining, saving your $$$$$

Thats the sort of thing a travel agent does for you.

I personaly have never used them, as the first time I went I spent months looking into how to get the most bang for my buck, and have continued to do so. Now I am a DVC member and AP holder, so that takes some of the planning work out of the picture. However, after having hearing all the good things they do, I my book my next trip through them. When we do a cruise again in 2009 (I hope) I will most assuredly use them.

The biggest difference you will get with KK is personal service and someone that truly cares about getting you the best price possible. When you call WDW the cast member you are speaking with is actually not allowed to tell you about discounts unless you specifically ask about them. KK on the other hand does everything that they possibly can to save you money. Another great feature of KK's service is to rebook you if a discount you qualify for becomes available. If you book directly with Disney you have to be very vigilant and watch the various Disney websites for discount codes and rebook yourself. All of KK's reps are Disney nuts just like us. (many are members of this site) If they recommend a restaurant, resort etc they are not just reading from some prepared script they have been there and done it themselves.

I have booked my own trips for more that 10 years before giving KK a try. I can not imagine doing it myself ever again.
