So nothing has changed since 2005? It seems odd for Disney to just keep them in storage unless they had something in mind for them.
I believe they only trash stuff that would be very difficult, or not cost effective to reuse. I.E. the wand. Kinda hard to find another purpose for that beyond changing the 2000 to Epcot. Most other items that are reusable, they will. Almost the entire cast of the America Sings attraction in DL took up residence in the Splash Mountain out there. If you look at most of the items that end up for sale via MouseSurplus or what have you, it's not really reusable. Items with a given year on it, ride bodies that you really can't reuse due to their construction, old signage, etc. AA's are usually fairly complex and its much easier for them to reskin/tweak slightly than to completely gut. If for nothing else than parts. Look at the "castle" float that has been used for years in practically every parade at WDW, or the Pooh Honey Pot float that has been redecorated a few times recently to be reused. Or heck, even the shipping of a whole parade to a new park. Disney definitely doesn't like to toss something that they can reuse.
