Not that I'm expecting anyone to know any hardcore stuff but does anyone know what became of the actual alien AA from the now defunct AE? It doesn't seem like they could get much use out of it but it seems awfully wasteful to just scrap such an expensive AA.

I think they put fur on it and its now going to be the Yeti at EE....

Great Movie Ride!
as long as they don't get rid of the other aliens. And if they did get rid of the aliens, I'd buy one of them too. I'm a sci-fi geek that dreams of having a huge house with movie props scattered all over. ;)

Now those I could understand being bought up. Although I doubt they're full body AA's.

Even better. I'd have an attacking torso pop out from a hole on the wall of my hallway. Alien and smoke will be motion activated. Not impossible to do either, and couldn't cost more than around $6-7k plus alien. I work with air operated hydraulic cylinders with my car hobby.

I dont believe the alien in AE was all that indepth. If you noticed throughout the attraction the alien just would spin back and forth and the arms would move up and down. The Stitch AA is a totally different model and nothing near the AA Alien. I say scrap parts, that is all that thing will be used for.

From a post above: I believe the OP was referring to the alien and not SIR, but SIR is still there in the preshow.

Did anyone ever manage to get a picture of the alien AA with the lights on perhaps? It's always interested me as to what it looked like with the lights on as the few glimpses you got of it were very brief.

This is true. For all we as non-CMs know the thing could have been relatively small

You used to be able to see its likeness in an action figure trio set that came with two skippys, the robot and the alien. He was big, green, blue and sharp...

XS-Tech had a commercial on the old Space Mountain preshow-like monitors above the switchback queues before boarding. Disney did an excellent job of making Tomorrowland feel like a seperate community during the mid-late 90's. I'm just glad I got to spend plenty of time in the New Tomorrowland back when it was........the New Tomorrowland.

When I went in 1995, Tommorowland was perfect. I mean there was absolutly nothing wrong with anything. (well maybe besides the speedway and dreamflight). But the theming went all well together. I mean everything just seemed to work. But then with the closure of the Skyway, seasonalness of CoP and Timekeeper, Alien Encounter being replaced with Stitch.... Tommorowland doesn't seem very wonderful anymore.

What I am very dissapointed too is that the imagineers are very inclined to replacing every single ride and attraction with some Pixar ride or Stitch. I very much want new original attractions not based on franchises. Those are the best as the imagineers are forced to have the entire story of what is going on be told in that invironment. Also, it allows for less plot holes (stitch) and it may lead to a new franchise (Pirates).

But what is really ironic about everything is that the imagineers and disney abandoned the concept about following through with a realistic tommorowland only to encounter the fact that the attractions are lasting the same length for some reason. (besides the almighty immortal Space Mountain!)

I don't know, maybe the Magic Kingdom will see a Disneyland style overhaul. But something more original. I would like to see new completely original attractions replace Stitch, Time Keeper and CoP (with the hope CoP is moved to another park, I mean it could right now do wonders in Hong Kong or Tokyo or even Disneyland).

But this is all just me. I mean all Tommorowland has is now Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, and the TTA. And the TTA and Space Mountain share a common theme and Lightyear does not. But we'll see. Maybe the south end will be reworked in the next major rehab allowing for some nice new attractions, shops and restaurants.

Dark Measures, I agree. I used to spend half a day at Tomorrowland and now I'm barely there. And I'm not just talking about AE at all. With my other 2 favorite attractions there usually closed (Timkeeper and CoP), the whole place feels hollow and heartless now.

SM, TTA, and Buzz is it in Tomorrowland right now for me (that's open all the time).

Here's a lame idea to further dumb down EPCOT: have the alien attack the Mission: Space ships once they land on Mars. He could smash through the front viewfinder, causing all the air to be sucked violently from the cabin. Next, he knocks out the interior lights (pitching the ship into total darkness, then the same silly effects could be installed in the harnesses to make it feel like he's breathing on your neck, drooling on you, etc. Finally, just as the alien is about to chomp on your head...you wake up from hypersleep. All is well. Or maybe he could just be roadkill in the speed portion of Test Track.

As I said before, most likely, DisneyQuest's next ride rehab is Invasion. Expect a cameo, maybe a first person shooter that you have to verse our alien friend's entire species...:drevil:
