I would think that the 2d week would be less crowded. However, on weekends, you will experience those end of school parties.

I agree, it should be less crowded May 2-9, and it may be falling just before Grad Nights too so you may luck out.

We went in 2006 from may 6-13th, it was alright...ive gone during october and early december so to me it was pretty busy compaired to those times... but really the crowds were managable, food courts not overly packd, wait times for busses not to bad...
Now, the downside was there were ALOT of senior classess there.. They were noisy and annoying on the busses and at the hotels..but hard to comeby in the parks....Are you staying at a value? This is one of the reasons we are taking advantage of the deal and will upgrade, hopefully there wont be as many groups at coronado..
We will be returning again in may in 2009 though, but at at a moderate level this time..

According to TouringPlans.com the first dates are better. You are looking at 4 to 6's the April 25th - May 2nd date. The May 2nd - 9th dates are going to be around 5 to 8's.

I went back in '05 the week you are talking about, April 28th - May 5th. We wanted to see "the world" not decorated for Christmas just once. It was very hot, 98 to 99 degrees each day, and it rained due to the humidity a couple of times during the week. The ride lines were minimal and all in all it was a pretty good time to go. However, I'm sticking to the second week in December forever on out :xmas:.

What we figured is that since Easter is earlier in the month that even if there are schools that have 2 weeks, the 25th will be the end of that time frame. Also we figured that it would be a week or two before schools in the South start getting out. Allears lists that whole time frame as moderate to lower crowds. Finally we were looking at the weather history and it seems to start to heat up pretty quick the more you get into May.
So we vote for the 25th-2nd so much so that we booked it ourselves. Don't wait too long to make your decision, you never know how many spaces will be open at your preferred hotel with the discount package.
Maybe we'll see you there!
