Advice Needed: Honeymoon

I have recently booked my Hoeymoon at WDW. We are staying 6 nights, Occtober 15-21. We got the Magic your way package plus dining. We booked at Port Orleans French Quarter.

Will we be happy there? Or would you go the extra mile and uggrade to one of the deluxe resorts? Is it even possible to upgrade to a differnt hotel? Or will I have to redo my tickets and everything?

If I upgraded would I just have to pay the difference in room rates?

Since its your honeymoon. I would say Deluxe....but I don't know what your budget is. The Wildreness Lodge and The Animal Kindom Lodge both price the least of the Deluxe resort tier....or you could get a one Bedroom villa. Then you can have a jacuzzi tub....but once again it's up to you. Yes you pay the diffrence.

Upgrade if you can afford it.

The magic of your Honeymoon won't be any less at the POR, but I would upgrade if you can afford it. Animal Kingdom Lodge is so quiet, so out of the way. I was there during hell week (12-25 to 12-31) a couple years ago, and it was still quiet at night almost everywhere. It's a really special place.

Is my best bet to just call and see how much more it would be? I'm really not sure how much more it would be. I assume my current package (tickets & dining) wouldn't be effected, I'd just have to make up the difference in the room rates.

On our honeymoon we had a sweet at the Swan. Biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in. And nicest. I'd go deluxe, since your only going to do it once.(hopefully!)

Well it would really depend. If you upgraded would that mean you had less money for special momentos and souvineers? We honeymooned at WDW in '95 and had a wonderful time. There are so many things you can do outside of the resort that are special. I don't think you will be unhappy where you are and then you could splurge for a photo session inside the parks or any of the million other options disney provides.

A deluxe is nice, but you have to think of what you can afford.
It is your only honeymoon but you don't want to go into debt because of it.
We stayed at animal kingdom lodge concier (sp) plus the 7 night cruise. It was great because we got to go on the 2 special safaris at AKL.
But it was also very expensive

We stayed at the Grand Floridian last year for our Honeymoon and I think it was well worth our money. Also, we had booked the Honeymoon Suite for the first night and then were going to move to a cheaper room for the rest of our vacation, but as we were moving, the concierge on our level got us the Honeymoon Suite on the concierge level for the rest of the week, at the CHEAPER room rate. It was great, and very magical of Disney to do that for us. And it was very quiet with a King bed and jacuzzi tub that you can't get at many of the other resorts.

There has been many threads about this subject. My wife and I stayed at Dixie Landings (Port Orleans: Riverside now). We had a great time and the magic was there. For most new couples (as us), they are limited in funds. There is so much other expenses with a wedding, house, furniture, etc, for us a Moderate resort was perfect. Most of your time is in the parks. Remember this is your honeymoon the most important part is being with your spouse. It doesn't matter where you stay you will have a blast.

POFQ is a beautiful resort, and you'll be happy there. I'd stay with that resort choice, and then splurge on the other stuff, as others have already said. It's your honeymoon, and there are lots of great restaurants to eat in, souvenirs to buy :D , and photos to take! The rooms at POFQ are great, and you certainly won't be disappointed - so spend that extra $$ on all those impulse purchases and extras that will make your trip even more memorable.

Have a great honeymoon!

hi there!!! Welcome to the Boards. POFQ is actually a very nice resort. It is small, quiet and pretty intimate. it is the absolutel smallest of the Moderates and is a sister resort to PO Riverside, meaning that you can use any of the amenities at both resorts by staying at either one. Are the deluxe resorts nice? The answer is definitely yes. Are they worth the price to upgrade. I would say that does depend. As many people here have said, your budget is an unknown here. A King size bed room at FQ is $165.00 a night at full rack rate. A Savannah view room at Animal Kingdom Lodge is $320 a night at full rack rate. That is almost double the price! May I Ask how you booked your honeymoon? did you do it yourself, through a travel agency? Were you able to get any kind of a discount that you know about? some of these factors can make a great difference in answer to your questions. If you booked through an agency, you may have a fee if you make any changes to your package so that may have to be factored into the decision as well. if you booked it yourself through Disney, there may be some discounts that would be available. For those, I would refer you to our board sponsor,Pam of Kingdom Konsultant. With a few questions, she may be able to find you a discount that you didnt know you were eligible for!!! Getting back to French Quarter though, have you ever stayed there before? If not check out the pics at this link, Some are of Riverside as well but it will give you a good idea of where you are staying. http://home.comcast.net/~candisfl/w...493912-Publish-t-makestatic-true-skip-30.html
Hope this help!! Belle

My wife and I honeymooned at Wilderness Lodge on the Honeymoone Grand Plan. It was expensive, but we had a great time. The only negative was that the honeymoone suites on the concierge (sp) level are right on the "main room" and it gets noisy down there sometimes. The castmembers were awesome.

Thanks for all the help. We just booked it on our own through Disney. I'd love to learn about any possible discounts. I appreciate all your help. The responses were very helpful.

I agree with Dixiegirl. You will have so much to do at PO you will not be disappointed. I would save the deluxe resort trip for your anniversary. Relax on your honeymoon, enjoy the resort features Dixiegirl listed, and spend your extra money on romantic meals and souvenirs. We have stayed at POR (Dixie Landings) 11 times since 1992 and we love it, too.

I agree with this advice. PO is a nice resort and I don't think you would be disappointed. Use the extra money for nice meals at one of the deluxe restaurants or go on a fireworks cruise. Enjoy!

the resturant you have to go to, if you are saving money up and you can get your husband to wear a suit and tie on vacation is Victoria and Albert's.
It's the most romantic resturant on property.
It is also the most expensive, $95 a person + wine or drinks.
But it is well worth the money.
