Ugh... I am so confused

:hammer:  :hammer:

I think the key words there are gradually and consistently. Its good news for the company and the guest by far from the doom and gloom of the last 2 years. However, the economy and travel have not improved enough yet for the company to throw caution to the wind.

Well it starts with Toon Town opening an hour late, which isn't so bad because it's sort of off by itself, then it progresses to Adventureland and who knows what land will be next if nobody complains about this? They tried staggering opening and closing times of different lands at Disneyland and got so many complaints that they ended the policy. Walt felt that everything in the park should be open when the park is open and I have to think the aesthetic value of that trumps saving a few dollars by not having to pay the jungle skippers for one hour's work.

I wonder how some of these people who are saying something to the extent of "DEAL WITH IT!" would feel if it were Tomorrowland that was not opening until 10:00AM.

If I went to the grocery store at 9:00AM I would expect the whole store to be open.

If I saw a sign that said "The Milk and Dairy Section won't be open until 10:00AM" I would be furious.

If I went to a Car Dealership and got pounced on by a Salesman who told me "I'm here to sell you a car..but you can't test drive it for an hour." I'd be pretty upset.

If I went into a bank at 9:00AM and they welcomed with open arms and then proceded to tell me that I could make a DEPOSIT...but I would have to wait until 10:00AM to make a WITHDRAWL..there's a pretty good chance I would not be a happy Camper.

The point is this: When you pay money to do things or use a service you expect to be able to USE that service..not just PART of it.

While I understand Disney's reasoning for doing what they are doing, they should expect some people to be upset.
People have the right to complain...at Disney World...AND on this message board. You may not agree with them..and nothing may change...but show a little respect, kindness and understanding please.

My suggestion would be to go straight to Guest Services and COMPLAIN about the 10:00AM opening of Adventureland.

DisneyInsider writes: "Truthfully if you go write to Disney about this or complain to City Hall, they won't care. It is a miniscule situation compared to the rest of their operations."

That is my point: It is such a miniscule part of the operations that it doesn't make much sense to use this very visible way to save money with probably very neglible results in dollars saved. Again, when Disneyland was flooded with complaints about this, it stopped within weeks.

Small retort. I am by far not happy about it, and hopefully it isn't there in March when I go next, but if it is, I know about it, and if I still choose to pay, then I am getting the whole service I paid for, not just part of it. If you know the restrictions and still pay for the service, then you are getting exactly what you paid for.

As for people's right to complain, I agree, but people also have the right on here to tell you why they disagree with your opinions. Show a little respect, kindness, and understanding toward their opinions and points of view, please.

If I paid for my Park Tickets, airline tickets, and Resort lodging BEFORE they decided to open Adventureland an hour later ( and I did ) am I getting the service I paid for?

I'm not going to argue this point any further. When I go to Disney World in 23 days I will FIND a way to make the Magic happen. :)

But I do have the right..and I will complain on this board and to Micheal Eisner himself if feel the need to express my thoughts about Disney Policies... because By God I'm an AMERICAN...and as an AMERICAN, it's my God given RIGHT to complain..it's what we AMERICANS do! ::saluting::

SIDENOTE...I'm not only a Ticketholder...I'm a Stockholder as well. :p

Making the Magic happen

I would just like to say that I have been to WDW at least 10 times in the past 15 years. My wife and I honeymooned there last November. We spent in excess of 15k on our honeymoone, staying at Wilderness Lodge, in the honeymoone suite, on the Grand Plan. We are going again Nov 13. Put a deposite down on a Disney Cruise for Nov 2004. We probably spend at least 2k a year on Disney movies, apparel, novelties, etc..... I THINK I HAVE A RIGHT TO EXPRESS MY OPINION ABOUT DISNEY.

I wont even go into how they screwed up our honeymoone package and while we were there basically were told there was nothing "they" could do about it. Try spending an hour a day of your honeymoone trying to convince someone that yes you did book the honeymoone grand plan, and that if we didnt, why did you schedule our "honeymoone" photo session. Not only did we not get the special edition disney honemoone watches (which by the way was why we chose the honeymoone grand plan ) we had to convince the people at disney that they actually did offer that on the honeymoone section of the web site. They did send us a "basket" of stuff and $50 Disney Dollars. Needless to say we really were not satisfied with that, but agreed not to let it ruin the memory of our honeymoon. ( Wups, guess I went into it....)

So when someone tries to tell me that an hour "aint all that big of thing, and dont worry about complaining about it" it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

AL may be opening late, but the park as a whole is going back to some pretty super hours in Nov and Dec. I'd rather see one land open an hour later and the whole park stay open 2 or so hours longer than in previous years. See the thread about December's hours and you'll see what I mean ;)

Actual cost of running the Jungle cruise for one hour?

I'm still perplexed at how starting the Jungle Cruise an hour late on a peak attendance day could save a measurable amount of money. Does anyone know what it costs to actually man the ride for one hour?

I figure if they open the first hour at half capacity they might employ about ten skippers at maybe an average of $10 per hour and maybe 7 people to work the lines and man the boats at an average of $7 per hour or so for a grand total of $149 savings.

This is all a wild guess on my part since I have no real way of knowing what the pay is or how many people work the lines, but even if that number is doubled, is it really worth having it closed to save such a small amount?
