Ah, Ok. Based on that post I think the croc must be smarter than you.

Please don't go anywhere near AK ever again.

That 's the same guy who started a thread about WDW hosting the Olympics.... He's an idiot.

The croc was in a cage - he had no where to go, the flippiant remark about the kid wasn't so much sad as it was just a matter of fact that the kid could walk away or step down easily - the animal however was stuck... he was in harm's way and there was no where to go....a caged animal with no where to go.

You hit it right on head. A croc is not an object to jump for our enjoyment. He was trapped and shouldn't be that close to humans in the first place. If WDW feels that he should be on display they should protect him from the stupid humans that might cause him harm for their entertainment.

This reminds me of what a college professor of mine said was the problem with Sociology. He said, "In Sociology, if a kid steals a hubcap, you look at why -- was it his upbringing? Peer pressure? The economics of his surrounding? -- Give the kid credit! He thought of stealing the hubcap, he did the act; peer pressure, economics or not. To say someone else is at fault discounts the capability of the kid." So yes, child misbehavior can usually be pointed back at the parents, at the same time, you can be a reasonable person without reasonable parenting (and counter).
My point was that this is obviously a small child (since the parent picked him up and held him over). Yes, I'd hope that some way , some how, a much older child would know better.

I agree here too though - from a mom's point of view, it's a scary thought that someone would put their child in danger like that...

ahh,, I love all y'all... i'm just in agreeing mood ;)

Wow! You guys must not spend alot of time around alligators or crocs. I live in Florida and run into alligators all the time. Heck, There are two in the pond in my back yard. I fish florida waters alot and see gators all the time. They bump into my boat and come right up to my boat sometimes looking for something to eat.

The two gators in my back yard come up to the shore all the time when I am out there fishing looking for something to eat. other than a gun or a bang stick there is not much I can do to hurt a gator.

Gators are tough critters and I really can't picture anyone having anything at Disney that would hurt a gator.

What would you possibly have in the park on your person that would be heavy enough or sharp enough to hurt a gator?

It's against the law in Florida to mess with or harass a gator in any way, shape or form. you can be thrown in jail for feeding a gator.

I don't condone messing with gators. I see them alot and respect them and their space.

As far as the kid...I don't really have comment on that. There is a saying in Florida..if your dumb enough to mess with a gator...then your dumb enough to get eaten by one.

I also find it sad that the first thought is for an animal and not a human life. But, that seems apropos for today's society.

I'd argue that the first thought was for the victim, regardless of the species. Whether it's a crocodile or a flamingo or a less popular kid, it's still something/someone being picked on.

Im disgusted that Disney cast members werent on the scene faster. Goes to show that Disney security blows.

Uhm...what? Yeah, go ahead and forget the fact that you rarely hear about any out-of-control guest issues even though Disney's dealing with thousands upon thousands of people a day. This shows that, despite that fact, Security blows. Come on now.

What do you want them to do? Security is not an all-knowing entity, y'know. This goes right back to a point that was made earlier. Do you really want a security official every couple of yards to watch every single thing you do? Besides, you have no way of knowing if Security was already aware of the problem, do you?

Some people--like the guests in question--are just stupid. Such is life.

Thin out the herd

Guests like that have no place in my parks. The only reason I'd want a Cast Member there full time is to get rid of Guests like that... for good.
Fortunetely, occurences of this nature are as rare as a politician telling the truth.
I wish that my fellow DVC Cast Member had seen it sooner and done something about it. Most likely they were scheduling an Open House or following up with a Guest. I do not make phone calls when I see something in the parks I handle it myself, even when I visit the parks as a Guest.
I feel bad for my pal Fluffy, we use to spend countless afternoons just staring at each other as I explain the facts I do know about Crocs to Guests since being at the DVC location can be hard sometimes.

So in closing: I am sorry that this was done, my recommendation to anyone who comes across careless behavior orf any kind is to either take action yourself or find someone who can help immediately. Do not jump to conclusion and believe that the matter you witness should become the foremost issue on the park's management agenda. But writing to them does help, Disney does keep record of repeated comments.

yeah, i'd be careful recommending that people take action themselves - I think the appropriate course of action is to notify a CM who can then notify security...

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. The kid I have sympathy for. But for the Croc, I could care less. Hell, i would of shot the stupid thing, including all the other stupid animals in the park. Animals are nothing but trouble.

I'm not even sure you could hold a gun in your hand and shot it little man....the kick back alone would knock you on your .....LOL...idiot.

I find it funny that you all are blaming a child for this, yet it was the parent who was holding them up. Also isn't it Disney who is "abusing" the animals by locking them up in cages and ripping them out of their natural habitat? I'm not saying I agree w/ that statement, but it's pretty shocking to read some of the outrageous comments on this thread...

The animals at AK were not taken from their natural habitats. Most were born in captivity and the rest were already in captivity prior to AK. Thus in reality Disney only gave them a better home where they are for the most part much better taken care of.

I never said I was agreeing w/ that statement, just arguing on how some people would say Disney is the one "abusing" animals. BTW if Disney was so concerned w/ all of their animals, wouldn't you think they would prevent this kind of thing by I dunno maybe putting a glass shield in front of the cage? Seems pretty common sense to me...

I may have missed it, but I don't recall a post blaming the child. Most posts I've read are angry at the parent for such disregard for their kid. :veryconfu

I assume there is some confusion at anger with the child troll who got their account suspended after their "contribution" to this thread.

Well the original poster stated that they coudl care less if the child was killed because they were "old enough to know better." Give me a break. If the parent told them it was ok to do then I don't see how you could blame the kid. Even if the kid did this out of his own free will its still the parents fault for not doing anything about it.
