It's amusing to read how few of you people weren't even around when EPCOT Center opened and don't know how GREAT EPCOT Center used to be. Not a Mickey in sight, w/every country having it's creepy 8ft high dolls, and Figment as it's mascot. Now it's a rag tag series of blunders held together by weak ideas and recycled themes.

I feel bad for all you folks who never got to experience Walt Disney World at it's purest most unspoiled state. It was amazing to go there and amazing to be part of that daily.

If you missed it...enjoy your post Eisner world of profiteering and sub part attention to detail. I for one will always treasure the Vacation Kingdom of the World and how details mattered, how the guest came first, how stringent things were on cast members, and how it changed EVERYTHING in Central Florida.

Oh and if anyone wants to buy a few unused World Passports let me know...I've got some.

I don't wish to start a nasty back and forth, but felt compelled to (nicely and respectfully, I hope) comment on this.

I was at EPCOT in the beginning and have been there every couple of years since it opened. I know what you're talking about, for sure!

While I do agree that the "original, pure" EPCOT was an amazing thing, I just have to say that I still enjoy it immensely, as do, it would seem, millions of people each year.

I just can't go that negative. You and I would probably agree on every point--save one. I still love it, still go, still enjoy. Yes, I miss the old EPCOT. It's not coming back, though, and I have my memories of it. Much of what's there is the same! And some of the new stuff, I love in new ways.

I'm sorry that you're so hung up on something that will never be again, that you can't enjoy what is there, I guess.

But you can't please everyone.

That having been said, ah, for one more trip on Horizons . . . . ahhh . . . .

It's all good . . . . hope I didn't anger ya! Just throwing my 2c in.

$15 a ticket? My My how things have changed - too funny! And it was geared mainly for adults and today is my 12 year old daughters FAVORITE park! lol

It's amazing to see the part with the trees so short! Great find!

My first trip to Epoct was in '86. I truely do miss some of it's more educational magic. In my mind, nothing will beat the suspension of reality that was Seabase Alpha. But seeing the part now through my son's two year old eyes, I still think it's every bit as magical as it was when I was a kid.

The flyover view was good where it showed how nice the entrance USED TO look before they put the stupid gravestones, erm, Leave a Legacy stones in.

Besides that, the news report was pretty business oriented, not really much positive notes about the park really.

EPCOT Center was part of an era where many companies (not just Disney) still cared about their legacy, and not just the bottom line. Marketing and business classes have sucked the souls out of most American companies (again, not just Disney), because spreadsheets reign supreme instead of personal pride.

NEVERTHELESS, I still love Epcot in 2010, and I have a great time when I'm there.

Great find... I remember EPCOT Center and yes it was great, but times change... If EPCOT were still the same as it was in its hayday people would complain that EPCOT hasn't changed in almost 30 years. And as far as the ticket price is concerned ... Everything costs more than it did 30 years ago... Back in the early 80's $15 was a lot of money for entrance into a theme park

I find it interesting that a few times, they only say "Epcot", when back in those days, it was known as "Epcot Center".

And seeing the "rainbow tunnel" made me long for the glory days of JII...

And now that it is just Epcot, it seems you hear more people say EPCOT Center these days.

Yes
I find it interesting that they project 8-10 million visitors per year, yet that is, I believe, what EPCOT gets NOW on a yearly basis, I think between 10 and 12 million. MK is the most with 17 and DHS and DAK are more or less tied right around 10 million
