Nope, it's not the guy in Florida. Actually, this guy works at my school and his apartment is about 1.5-2 miles from my dorm. So much closer! I actually had to break it to the guy in Florida and tried to do it gently...I felt really bad, but he realized this might happen, and said that as long as he's a good guy, and I'm happy, then he's happy.

Awww…well, the other guy sounds sweet too. :lookaroun

But as far as starting out a relationship slowly, yeah I have, but I did it for different reasons because I was weary and I wasn’t sure if he was someone I wanted to get involved with. We became good friends and started to casually date. Slowly he found his way into my heart. Yeah, we're no longer together. (Sorry, no happy ending to give you) I think taking things slowly works because you two have an opportunity to get to know each other. Isn't that what dating is all about, anyways? :animwink: But don’t listen to me, I have yet to make a relationship work. :lookaroun :p But I still wish you two luck. ;)

My DH & I started off a little like that - when we first met, his ex gave me his number (they were friends), he (smartly so) sucked up to my roomates by taking us all to dinner and out for drinks or dancing several times - but as for the actual relationship - we were NOT getting serious - we were determined to stay casual dating as we were both on the rebound... and didn't feel like getting serious - but then as each "date" progressed... slowly but surely we had to eventually admit that we liked... dare I say loved... each other... and as the dates got longer and the feelings stronger... we eventually ended up dating... 4 years later we got married... and a year and 1/2 after that we had our first child... so all in all I'd say it took me a long time to realize he was "the one" but it was mainly b/c I was so determined to "not date" him... when I finally let myself feel something about the relationship - I realized I was long gone... ;)

Don't a lot of relationship start off like that?

*pops in for a quick huggles*

Sorry I haven't posted lately. I've been really busy with school. And the guy I just started dating has this habit of "kidnapping" me to take me out (we're still in the novelty phase, where everything seems perfect, and we're really happy to be together. Not quite a relationship yet, but it's moving that way)
Yay, congrats :sohappy:

So here's my question- has anyone else dated someone and it started off like this? How did it end up? (I'd hate to jump to conclusions and say he's The One, but this feels...different than the other relationships I've been in.)
I can think of a similar situation some years ago, but it ended badly for me - I got dumped for someone with a bigger packet - wage packet that is....get yer minds out the gutter!

Practically all my relationships started slow (nice guys generally don't have the magnetism of the not-so-nice guys). However my current relationship was not a particularly slow starter. We were introduced by a mutual friend and instantly got along. We get a lot of ribbing from friends about "when's the big day". Think it will have to be longer than four months to give that serious thought.

Sorry that I'm gushing about him- it's just that he's the first decent guy I've EVER dated.
No worries - just let your friends know that it's worth a shot dating the decent guys they normally blank for the smooth talking gits ;)
