If you want an early Throwback Thursday, one of the questions in our early Disney Debates this year was -- which superhero movie in 2016 would be the best.

Out of: Deadpool, Batman v Superman, Captain America:Civil War, X-Men Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, Dr. Strange

Here were the debate responses arguing for

Dr Strange

Batman v Superman

Civil War

Deadpool

I was able to see Dr. Strange early...and well after now seeing all 6 of these...I guess I can finally answer this question. :D

Here's my personal list -- I will just concede that some may not agree, but it's my list so I don't care:p

6. Suicide Squad - was a big mess and so much unused potential.
5. X-Men Apocolayse - I'm not really an X-Men fan, nor a Jennifer Lawrence fan, so this just wasn't a good mix:hilarious:

the dots are to emphasize that there is a huge gap between 4th and 5th. 1-4 are really good movies for me!

4. Deadpool - the funniest and raunchiest superhero movie ever, however I watched it on TV recently and it didn't have the same re-watchablility in terms of jokes (which is most of the movie). If I didn't watch it again it would have probably been #2. But I moved it down because I can watch the next 3 multiple times and not get tired of it.

Next 3 might be sketchy...:rolleyes::angelic:

3. Captain America: Civil War - woah! What?! Yes...I love this movie...it's the build up of the entire MCU and it introduced new characters like Black Panther and Spider-Man. It had everyone in it. The reason why I have it at 3 though, is because my two top films are stuff that we either will never see again, or an entire new door for future Phases.

Civil War was a culmination of the past, and will sure have repercussions in the future, but at this point, we've seen the same heroes twice on the screen together in the last two years. That's why I have the other 2 higher. Because Civil War feels like an episode in a TV season, the other movies are either...you're never gonna see this again because DC wants to be like Marvel...or...omg there's a mirror dimension!

2. Batman v Superman - I was very sketpical of this movie...then I saw it, and it wasn't that bad (probably would have been 4 on the list)...then I saw the Ultimate Edition and the news about Justice League and the new movies...and I like it even more!

I actually like the dark tone of Snyder/Nolan movies. I really liked Man of Steel. And I like the epic music as well by Zimmer and Junkie XL. It's different than Marvel, and that's what I like about it...the variety and the different color patterns, etc.

The movie has a ton of critics...but idk...as a comic book fan -- the stylized scenes are ripped right out of the comic books. It just all fits for me. And the extended version ironed out the clunky plot so that it's more understandable. It's sad because this is going to be the last of these style of movies....they want to make it "lighter" and "funnier" --- but being different than Marvel is what makes DC stand out. Ah...it's my #2.

And yep...my #1...yes @Voxel it is...

1. Dr. Strange - I'm a huge fan of "trippy" Inception like movies, so that's my bias opinion coming through, but this is such a different spin on the MCU...I loved it.

It's just like 60s era comics. It got everything right...and to top it all off...I flipped! My Dr. Strange attraction from TSI Season 2 --- if you read it...there's some slight spoilers for the movie:D:hilarious: I was like..omg they included that!

The Dark Dimension

As Dr. Strange continues through the Dark Dimension he happens upon a doorway to another dimension. He suspects that the Ancient One's request is in the next dimension. The doorway is open and out steps Dormammu, Dr. Strange's arch-enemy and evil ruler of the parallel universes. Dr. Strange knows he must fight Dormammu if he hopes to accomplish the Ancient One's task.

I fangirled at that.:p

It was my favorite standalone Marvel movie yet, and yeah - it might not be everyone's top movie of the year...but it's mine because I like the character and because I think this movie just blew the door open on possibilities for future movies. The 2017 lineup of Marvel movies...in particular now Thor 3, I'm really looking forward to.

Also the mid/post credit scenes...stay for! I'm gonna see it again in the theater.

Here's an extended look - the visuals alone are worth it.

Dr strange is one of my favorite heroes. And probably my favorite next to Iron Man. I can't wait to go see Dr Strangr! I will probably see it in theatre
