No of course not DLP is a beautiful park and has some of Tony Baxter's best work, But it's going to take the corporate equivalent of a bloody nose before TWDC fixes what's wrong with DLP on both the marketing and attractions side of the ledger at DLP.
Well, overbuilding hotels is where that particular failure came from.

Bzzzt wrong, Any given weekend there is a Star Trek or Dr Who convention somewhere in the US and World, The movies capture a small segment of the fanbase. Heck there are even Hollywood quality Fan Fiction Star Trek movies being released with Paramount's approval.

I can't even imagine Disney doing something similar but Disney DOES work hard to marginalize organizations like the 501'st Legion, Yeah There is a great idea, crap on your franchise's biggest fans.

Same deal for Doctor Who, BB-8 meh' RC Dalek - TAKE MY MONEY!

Oh, I guess you're right then. Fan conventions, not movies or merchandise, is the best way to tell if your ip is popular.

You remember how before they went with shoehorning Nemo into the Disneyland Subs, they were considering using Atlantis the Lost Empire as a new theme?

Yeah, it was going to be waaayy more involved then just an overlay.

And every day a bunch of people play Dungeons and Dragons in someone's basement...

You are misattributing your personal preferences as facts again.

I'm a relative Who/Star Trek fan, but no way in hell does Who register as more than a niche brand/fandom anywhere outside of the U.K. Star Trek doesn't hold a candle to the Star Wars popularity either. Star Wars was already the number one boy toy brand prior to this new trilogy.

Agreed, especially about Dr. Who. Great show, but it's no where near as popular as Star Wars.

That's an awesome piece of artwork I've never seen before. I wonder if it's being mis-attributed to the Atlantis film because why would the 20K Nautilus be the ride vehicle (though I guess they could interlace the two worlds as they are similar time periods/technology).. Regardless, would love to see this instead of Where's Nemo Sub Voyage.

Still has the orange lighting of the Ulysses. Working off earlier designs perhaps? I mean, the movie was in development throughout the late-90s and just as the Subs originally closed.

Speaking as someone who's always been Trek-over-Wars, it's hard to even compare the two. Star Wars lost it's geek-cred decades ago, it's too broad and populist now (which is exactly what Disney wants of course, see: Marvel Cinematic Universe). Star Trek will, hopefully, never be that popular (despite Paramount's recent efforts to turn it into Star Wars Jr.).

And now the 3D printer-replicator

Guess we are a geeky family as we like Star Trek, Star Wars, Marvel and Dr Who (along with all the TV sci-fi) - In fact oldest DD just talked me into a comicon in April-several actors from Eureka/Warehouse 13 and a companion from Dr Who will be there.

@WDW1974 i don't think people are so much losing interest in the parks or Disney I think there is so much else going on in the world today that people are spending time with it. Politics, stagnation of Economy, people are just focusing on other things. I will admit my love for Disney is still as strong but my time for it right now is way less with the other things going on.

Universal Japan's continuing to have small fun with the Godzilla license. To promote the home release of Shin Godzilla, the Hollywood Dream coaster (their version of Rip Ride It Rock It) is featuring the vintage Akira Ifukube music from that film's climax.

Actually a smart pick because said scene kicks off with a bunch of unmanned bullet trains rigged with explosives being rammed right into Godzilla's ankles as part of a "Provoke and distract him into wasting his energy beams" phase of the plan to stop him by drugging/freezing. Fine imagery to have in your head riding a roller coaster.
