MM+ has little to do with it. Staffing levels have long been set based on the minimum required for the projected attendance. Their attendance projections are no more accurate now then they were before MM+. Attraction staffing is based on overall park attendance and does not take into account Fastpass selections.

The problem now has nothing to do with MM+ but rather an overall desire to reduce costs primarily labor costs.
With mde they get more insight into which parks people will target than they had before. Before they would have models and hotel data... now they know every user (on or off site) who has made advanced reservations for the majority of their day... knowing which park they will target when. That would help feed the projections... and give insight into park splits and offsite people that they did not have before.

I believe you are correct Chappie will be happy only when there are no staff at the front desk all checkin is done via kiosk and issues are dealt via a call center in Hyderabad open only 4 hours every third Wednesday

To be fair, folk in India tend to work much longer hours than that. Here's a challenge...I'm not sure if you can do it. Say one thing positive about Walt Disney World. Anything. It could even be last time you were in Adventureland the bathrooms behind PotC were surprisingly clean.

Like i already said. Their attendance projections are no more accurate now than they were before MM+. MM+ gives them a lot of insight. But they were already very good at forecasting how many guests would visit each park.

Additionally in most cases staffing levels and cast schedules are finalized long before most guests make their selections.

The turd left floating in the bathroom stall in the new Tangled bathrooms was magical... Does that count? LOL

I think Chappie is not happy with the state of resort revenue and that more revenue can be made.

Well no matter what they do to CBR, it'll be an improvement.

That said, I refuse to pay over $200 a night to stay on Disney property again unless big changes are made to transportation, food quality, poolside improvements and general resort improvements.

Agreed. That money would be better spent on tickets for Phish's Baker's Dozen at MSG anyway :D

Now, please say something positive about your most recent stay on Disney property as penance for criticizing WDW.

I'll go first....I was pulled aside to go through the metal detector entering Epcot last May. When the security CM saw my pen vape he said "this isn't a Phish concert so only use this in the designated smoking areas." He laughed, winked, and then told me to "have a grateful day." Excellent guest service IMO.

That's fantastic! No Bakers Dozen for me- I don't care for NYC and try to avoid it! However I am going to several Dead and Co. shows this year.

Positive: I thought the crowd control was done well and clearing out of regular, lazy cheap guests who didn't fork over an extra $100 for MVMCP was a sight to behold. They seriously made it into an artform.

Fwiw the new Frozen area in Epcot is pretty and photographs well. Except the ride. But we don't need to go there!

Edit to add photo--- found this gem at CBR bus stop. Shutters is most decidedly not diner style. Their prices are waaaaaaaay too high and their food is way too mediocre to be diner grub.

Well @George it's true folks in India tend to work much longer hours. My point was that Disney is only willing to pay for that limited set of hours.

As to Disney world I hate the way it's run not the place itself.

As to one good thing well it would be the Cast Members who work so hard to create the magic for the Guests and especially the cultural ambassadors at AKL who work so tirelessly to share their traditions culture and experiences with the guests.

I agree about the cast members- particularly the ones at DAK. They knew so much. I wandered the park alone from park open to close and without fail every time I hesitated or hung around for more than a minute a cast member approached and asked if I had questions or just started talking about a plant, an animal, a view point. A PhotoPass CM talked with me for a few minutes about my camera. The amount of knowledge the entire CM pool has there is astounding. I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot from them. Also the guys with the birds at the bird flight show (pardon my ignorance with names) knew all about the bird I was talking about that wasn't a part of the show and how that bird compared to the birds in the show.

I guess my nerd is showing. I like knowledge. I found it at AK...I found stuff to buy at Ipcot.

Sad news today out of Disneyland Paris: Cinemagique will close by the end of March 2017. Another part of it is that backstage redevelopment mean that every show cast members will be reassigned to other areas.

It came out yesterday after an internal meeting at Disneyland Paris it appears. I have seen the date of March 31st mentioned for the closing date.

As to why? I had heard whispers of a new attraction between the old Disney Channel building that now house Stitch Live!/Playhouse Disney and Cinemagique... so maybe it is the reason? On the other hand, the technical side of the projection show on the Tower of Terror was installed on that land, requiring them to move that if they do build something there.

I'm actually wowed. You can now use this post next time someone accuses you of only saying negative things. I would challenge you to say something good about the world (by world, I mean this big sphere we're all travelling on, not Disney World) at large now, but I feel that would be too much for one weekend. I think/hope your relentless dourness is more message board persona than your true nature. I will admit, there are times when saying something positive about the Mouse can be hard for me as well. I, too, think the long term managerial arc in the swamps is not for the best. But, I still enjoy the place and vacation there from time to time (as do you). You may have made a positive comment about something (and by something I mean anything) in the past that I didn't read or didn't register. I now know you can do it. I apologize for putting you on the spot and am glad that you were able to respond. Enjoy your Sunday.

You bring up a good point about the prices. A fairly obvious point that many are in denial about for whatever reason. I wonder about this at the macro level a lot. In particular, I wonder at what point price hikes can affect an negative effect on attendance. I'm starting to wonder if the price point is so high that it would be viewed as absurdist by the average person (you could argue that they are already there). I think there are two effects that help mitigate the effects each change in pricing structure (besides the hikes there have been countless rule changes and additional charges added over the years). There is some fraction of people who will mortgage their house and dip into college funds for a Disney World vacation ("Sorry, Johnny, in lieu of Princeton you'll need to help me run my haberdashery.")...but I don't think that is a big enough effect to not see a bigger attendance dip (I know it was 1% last year, significant but not world changing). I wonder if the bigger effect is that we're the biggest of the rich countries and for every person who decides it is not worth their money, there is another person to take their place. Now I do think this is bad for the long term, but it is hard for a big entertainment conglomerate to look at the long term.

Well @George let's go for a twofer.

There is so much beauty in the world, just this morning there was a beautiful sunrise which I took the time to fully appreciate. Too often we let small moments of beauty pass unappreciated.
