Speaking of the church of Bob, a 10 day old member is on the Springs board saying what a great deal $100 boat rides are
Wait what boat ride is $100?

Edit: Just saw the video. Calling that a "$100 boat ride" is a bit disingenuous. It's $100 total for three people and it's an amphibious car, not a "boat." Would I pay it? Heck no. But it's at least as reasonable as the Characters in Flight balloon.

And you were how old when you read your first one?

The age at which you first discovered HP is a factor when judging this sort of thing.
37 (2001).

Interesting story (OK, probably not). A friend of mine gave me the first three potter books as mp3 files (books on tape). My young family (Me37, ExW36, DD5, DD9months) were embarking on a 14 day road trip (Denver to DLR, Hotel Del, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Moab back to Denver). I only had time to burn the first book to disc before I left Denver. We listened to the whole first book between Denver and Anaheim. Before I left t Grand Cali, I had bought discs and burned the rest to disc.

The Characters in Flight girls are hotter.

I know, I've drank with them.

So some lunatic decided to shoot himself at Universal Studios Hollywood, by the Despicable Me ride. I've always thought security was too tame at the theme parks, and I bet by next week both Universal resorts will have metal detectors out front. Wouldn't be surprised if Disney follows suit.

Ugh :(

Regarding metal detectors...it's possible, but remember a couple of years ago some guy had his handgun fall out of his pants on the Dinosaur ride at AK, and I didn't see any security changes after that. Then again, different company.

@WDW1974 this question is random but is DCL looking to expand further in the near term? To me it seems like a no brainer to expand the DCL business. It is still of high quality and they could easily grow their market share, especially considering the issues some of the large cruise lines have had in the last few years.

To bring back the topic of Disney and gambling, this is interesting...

http://www.wsj.com/articles/BL-269B-3216
I saw this earlier today and thought it was interesting. The economics make a lot of sense for Disney. They are investing $250M in Draft Kings and get double that back in advertising on the various ESPN platforms in the future. There is such a large focus on fantasy sports these days so it's not surprising ESPN would be heavily involved. They already dedicate a bunch of time on Sunday morning to fantasy football and the ESPN website has a pretty extensive fantasy sports area. It's a grey area (at least legally) whether daily fantasy sports are gambling. Right now they are not legally considered gambling. In my mind it's still gambling. People make the argument that it's a game of skill not luck, but so is poker and to some extent blackjack but they are still considered gambling. You are still wagering money in an attempt to win more money. That's gambling.

Only a matter of time before the EPCOT Resort and Casino complex opens, Imagine what a great Casino SSE will make. Disney LOVES Gambling

Often the term "Disneyfied" can be used very critical meaning that something with cultural value is being sugar coated and made simple for the masses. In that sense of the word, the live action Cinderella felt like a "Disneyfied" version of the original...
That is exactly what I feel has happened to WDW.

Everything, from the hub to the new AoA to World Showcase is being turned into Fantasyland. Because that is how Disney identifies itself, what designers think Disney is about. A sugarcoated, pink princessy design. WDW now looks like the $0.99 Princess line merchandise you find in cheap supermarkets and discount shops.

Like Cinderella, Norway is now the Disneyfied version of the Disneyfied version of Norway. And in ten years time, when the live action 'Olaf's Beach Adventure' hits the theaters, revealing that Olaf was the villain all along, WS Norway will be the Disneyfied Disneyfied Disneyfied version of Norway. (But fit EPCOT's theme and mission though, because Norway has beaches and Olaf too like goes to a beach in the movie and stuff)

I'm very surprised that this doesn't happen once every few years. its very sad that people with young kids were around for that.

Marvel was making movies before 12/09. Indeed, Disney paid Paramount a nice chunk of BO change to simply release Avengers and Iron Man 3.

Marvel had films throughout the 00s. Whether released by Sony, Fox or Paramount, they had product. Plenty.

And, yes, I do believe that some fans (don't know what percentage) are simply fans now because Disney owns Marvel and it is cool to like the products. Plenty of the Disney as a Religion group would fall in here.
I agree about there being sudden Marvel fans, but you're really reaching to try and make the point. The X-Men and Rami Spider-Man films were all huge releases. The rest was a lot of schlock; the whole reason Marvel got out of licensing their content and got into creating their content. The first film actually made by Marvel was released in May 2008, about 15 months before the acquisition announcement.

Oh it's totally gambling. I speak as someone who has exchanged more money playing (online and offline) fantasy football than at the blackjack tables. Too much, in both cases...:angelic:

It's quite possible to do a reversible upgrade, I have a 68 Mopar - and I've replaced its points and condenser ignition with a Pertronix in the distributor and the rest of the ignition with a MSD system is it modernized and upgraded yep - can it be returned to stock for the purist - yep.

There is a also a Holley Pro-Jection system in place of the carb, Upgrade yep, reversible to the factory carb Yep.

So it's quite possible to upgrade a classic car without making permanent alterations which reduce it's value yet give you modern performance and reliability.
Im not saying its not, Ive got a 64 Chevelle with a few modernization upgrades. But the people who would be willing to pay above market price expect a concours quality car, which means absolutely NO upgrades. These will not be that quality if they ever hit the market. If you notice in that graph there was a pretty big spike in the value of a grade 3 car in 2014, I wonder if that was from Schussler buying so many for this.

Honestly Im a fan of modernizing classics. At the final show of the year the most impressive car to me was a charcoal grey and black 68 firebird with an LS3 in it, absolutely gorgeous. Far more impressive than the trailer queens that won best in show.

Good points - I think you are correct on why the price spiked. I also am not a fan of trailer queens.

I remember watching the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, seeing the X-Men and Spider-Man trilogies in theatres (+ Fantastic Four) and going to Marvel Super Hero Island in December of 2003.

Guess I was a fake fan until 2009.

I don't think he is calling you a fake fan. But for others who didn't give a crap about superhero films in general or Marvel until Disney bought it and acts like they were into the entire time (like most people do when things becoming trendy). But thats not a disney problem, thats just a society problem in general.
