"SHERMAN, Texas (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 17 ½ years in prison for swindling investors with a fake story about a Walt Disney theme park in North Texas.

The judge also ordered Thomas W. Lucas Jr. of Plano to pay $8.4 million in restitution Tuesday.

Lucas was convicted on seven counts of wire fraud and one count of making false statements to the FBI.

Prosecutors say Lucas defrauded more than 280 investors out of about $20 million from 2006 to 2010. Those who paid for land in Collin and Denton counties were told it was on the edges of the future park. Investors hoped to sell the land to developers for a profit after Disney made an announcement.

The Walt Disney Co. has denied rumors of a North Texas theme park."

So, not to derail this thread further down the ravine (is that even possible?); but does anyone know why the waterfall by O Canada! has been off for the last few weeks? I know its been dry since at least middle of August and I noticed it again Sunday night. Its not a pretty sight.

Here's Mr. Mongello with American Experience Executive Producer Mark Samels & Managing Director Jim Dunford from tonight's preview screening of the upcoming Walt Disney documentary. It was held at the Garden Theater in Winter Garden. The crowd was pretty decent sized, and it seemed like most of the people knew each other.

The producers said the film is pretty comprehensive and doesn't really pull any punches, but remains fair. They also said that TWDC offered them complete access to the archives and had no editorial control over the film.

Looking forward to seeing the full 4 hours.

It looks like the old Carousel of Progress to Epcot thread has been deleted, presumably because a lot of the information was led by Legit. There's a person on Twitter claiming to be a CoP cast member saying that there should be changes made to the attraction overnight:

Edit: Looks like a tweet was deleted:

So.... Crowd levels.

Holy crap, it was brutal at Magic Kingdom? How brutal?

That brutal. Clearly above the level of the last two years, for comparison.

After breaking down the numbers, talking with some spies and double checking with Len on the data. (The data is fine, the methodology hasn't changed.) It was just THAT busy at MK. Looking hard at the numbers, last year had a lot in the 6-7 range, those pushed up to the 8-9 range. (also Iger noted in an earning call 4% growth at the domestic theme parks in the 3QFY15 which covered April-June)

So if you braved MK this summer and it wasn't yesterday, my hats off to you.

These higher crowds also reflected in the resort overall.

Across the board, higher numbers. Same thing happened - crowd pushed up. What were average/mid-level crowds last year became peak crowds this year.

Crowds dropped off later this year because of Labor Day being next week but there ya go. Summer 2015.

I know that you look at this stuff a lot so I have a question regarding this subject. Let's say that by 2020/2021, all current projects planned to happen are completed at DS, DAK, as well as what was shown - Toy Story Land and Star Wars - and not yet shown but is generally accepted as happening at DHS. Let's also throw in the Soarin' upgrades, Frozen, whatever the supposed 300 million alocated to Epcot according to the budget rumors, as well as a possible new nighttime show (or upgraded RoE show) for Epcot.

Do you think that this will impact crowd levels in the MK? Also, do you think that the presence of a 14 acre Star Wars Land at DHS alone will have the same drawing power that Harry Potter saw at UNI when it opened WWoHP and DA. I am curious to see if these changes will help alleviate the overbearing crowds at MK. We were there in July and there were some days where we had to leave MK because it wasn't enjoyable because of the crowd levels. At one point we were in TL and it was unbearable. There was a bathroom there that was so packed with people that there was simply no way that they could keep it clean.

I sometimes think that the only way they will be able to cut down on crowds at the MK is if they increase the ticket prices at certain times of the week/month or year.
