You have precisely summed up the issues with the so called 'Analysts' on 'Wall St, You have also summed up the issues with Iger's TWDC it is struggling with top line growth nearly all the 'increases' have stemmed from cuts and price increases in the various divisions. Say what you will about the Miller and Eisner era they GREW the TWDC (nee WDP) organically unlike the financial engineering seen in Iger's TWDC.
A couple of things to keep in mind. First, the analysts you hear on the call are mostly the sell side analysts. These guys don't represent the actual shareholders, they work for the side of investment banks that compile data on companies and sell reports. Most of the questions they were asking on ESPN were attempts to refine their models. They are less concerned with whether future results are good or bad and more concerned with trying to accurately predict those results.

Secondly, the stock was a bit over priced. A year ago the stock was $85 so even at $110 now it's still up about 30% in a year. I'm not sure how any of the issues with ESPN were a surprise to anyone. Wait until some of the new contracts kick in.

Domestic P&R results were good overall. Not a great quarter but not terrible either. I'm sure they were pleased with both hotel occupancy and park attendance. The strong results at WDW coupled with the increase in Orlando tourism and the issues with international parks should be the perfect recipe for some significant spend at WDW.

If ESPN becomes a smaller part of the revenue pie - the Street is going to expect other parts of the company to deliver more profit.

I think Iger has one big acquisition left in him. Perhaps one that helps with the perceived long term issues that could affect ESPN. They could make a play for a Cable company, Netflix...or more IP.

I'm just an observer...some of you seem to be more qualified in gaging what Disney might do.

How big a deal is the goings-on at ESPN? Will this push them to release an HBONow type of service for ESPN?

If they were to do something crazy like acquire/merge with Netflix and somehow bundle Disney's channel's (ESPN, Disney Channel etc) to the service, is that not a win? Or too costly/risky?

Wall Street's expectations and demands are crazy.

But Kenny the Pirate said Stitch might be leaving the Magic Kingdom!!!!!!:mad::mad:

Actually his exact words were that Stitch might "be removed" from the Magic Kingdom, which is way more amusing to think about.
