It was funny and more enjoyable than DM2 for me. Plus we're getting what sounds like a cool ride because of its success so far. I won't be seeing Sing though unless the trailers start to look better. So having seen Secret Life of Pets, I think people who are raving about it as the film of the year need their head examined (unless they're preteen girls).
It's just another generic talking animal movie, predictable plot, mediocre jokes, nothing we haven't seen before. All those saying it's better than Zootopia, what are you smoking? There's more wit, style, creativity and intelligence in a single minute of Zootopia than in the entirety of Pets.
It's OK, and a nice movie for kids or pet owners, but nowhere close to the bar Disney has been setting.
And saying it's better than Ghostbusters, which I watched immediately after... now come on, Ghostbusters is much, much better. If Pets really does (as predicted by everyone except me) beat Ghostbusters at the box office... well we might as well power up Skynet and get rid of humanity now, it's all we deserve quite frankly.
