A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I believe Frozen port/land was reconfirmed by the OLC president in an interview the other day. Sounds like it's being considered for FY21 or later though

Only the Japanese are doing it right and waiting until they have the space - by removing back stage buildings etc... not shoe-Horning it into an existing ride where there isn't the queue space.

You won't see TDR handing out mickey bars and water because of bad planning!

I suspect Pets will blow Ghostbusters out of the water, Pets looks like a silly fun film, Ghostbusters a pathetic attempt to cash in on nostalgia

Why is everyone here making out Pets to be the year's biggest blockbuster? It's been out for ages overseas and has done OK business at the box office, with OK reviews, but it's nothing special.

Ghostbusters is a lock in for box office success i think. It's got tons of nostalgia for the old and looks like a slick, cool movie for the young. It's got a cross demographic appeal, and a likeable cast. People have been waiting decades for a new Ghostbusters movie, they're not going to give it a miss in favour of seeing a poodle tapdance.

Also we've had hundreds of talking animal CGI films, but there hasn't been a film like Ghostbusters in a long time. My prediction is Ghostbusters will wipe the floor with Pets to the tune of several hundred million.

The short version I think because Pets from the trailers looks like fun, Ghostbusters looks lugubrious by comparison. Look I loved the original Ghostbusters because the first two were entertaining movies which you could watch over and over.

I expect it to either win the weekend, or come in a close second to Pets.
Heck, Dumb and Dumber To won its opening weekend with $38M.

(Full disclosure: the Dumb and Dumber films are one of my guilty pleasures, but I recognize they offer little value to society.)

I disagree Films like Dumb and Dumber offer simple escapism which is much needed in todays world.

Perhaps, but terrible trailers, plus the rumors of it sucking terribly.
Now you add the fact that a huge group of young men are hating it "for adding women to their precious franchise".
Its kinda a recipe to disaster.
Hopefully the movie will end ok.
I still remember those hating star wars because it had a black main character and a white girl.(Rey and Finn).

Recall that much of the construction of the original WWOHP happened during the last recession.

In response to the last recession, Disney offered deep discounts to bring Guests back into the parks. Those huge discounts severely hurt margins, with Disney Parks & Resorts reporting 3 of its 4 lowest margins ever from 2009 to 2011. From 2008 to 2010, domestic revenue fell 6%.

Meanwhile, at Universal, operating margin went from 23.8% in 2009 to 32.8% in 2011. For those same years, revenue increased by 66%.

As Universal demonstrated with WWOHP, new lands with appealing IP's help no matter what the economic climate.

Disney would be wise not to make the same mistake twice.

Yes and no. They've really screwed this up and I don't think the fault can be laid solely at the feet of WDI. After FY2021? For those keeping track this project is now officially more delayed than Avatar.

I don't understand what is up with the ridiculous (WDW-like) glacial pace OLC is operating on.

Their upkeep, attraction refurbs and entertainment refreshes are industry leading. But when it comes to a resort to resort comparison of who added the most attractions this decade (including all the Uni resorts) Tokyo is dead last. TSMM and a two decade late Soarin make for a miserable 10 years. All when attendance and revenue continues to skyrocket and the parks are ridiculously overstuffed.

I'm very happy with how the start of next decade looks for them, but I've pretty much written them off this one.

One has to wonder at this point if the Frozen ride might premier at Disneyland first. For Tokyo doesn't it have something to do with their relationship with WDI and how they were sick of paying for the R&D of all the coolest latest stuff? Also something with the Olympics and getting construction crews for their latest announcements? I'm sure I read both of those on here.

OLC waited too long to greenlight the project and now all the best construction resources are working on the Olympics, OLC would rather wait for the best than use bottom tier architects and crews to build their park.

But you still need an Internet Provider unless you're "borrowing" the neighbors Wifi.

Yep. I have Internet through Brighthouse (soon to be Charter).

With my tier of Vue I get 75+ channels and DVR for $35. My internet only package at 25 mps is $50. So $85 total.

My previous HD cable/internet package was advertised at $99 but after taxes and rental fees it was nearly $130.

That's a huge difference. Plus I get several Big Ten and ESPN channels now, something I'd have to upgrade to before.
