A Spirited 15 Rounds ...

One quick comment on today's second piece in the LAT on DLR and the political gamesmanship in Anaheim: the story wasn't overly notable for what was in there (not that it wasn't interesting), but rather for what wasn't mentioned at all.

And before you assume you know where I am going with this, ask yourself why that may be and what each party in this drama is looking for ... right now.

To the MAGICal member who asked about summer for Asia trips, I'll say this simply (and will attempt to send a personal note when I can):

SDL and its crowds were very uncomfortable in late June/early July. However, that allowed an early July visit to TDR in which the parks were damn near blissful (five days ... no waits more than 30 minutes). Something always has to give and I still enjoyed SDL quite a bit. If you only want to do SDL or combine it with HKDL and other Chinese locales in general, I would not advise a summer visit (you might be OK if you did the last week in May and first week in June or a deal like that).

Interestingly, some now consider the protective equipment to cause more injury than it prevents. Compare injuries of American football with rugby for example.

Yep. It's the repeated vibrations and head being knocked around constantly inside the helmet that may be a factor now. Catchers thst play baseball are also victim to this. It's the same effect as a boxer constantly being hit in the head.

Oh no millennials won't openly embrace the deplorable working conditions previous generations have set us up for, and instead want to find value in places besides their work? Monsters. I'm one of the youngest Executives in my company. I manage a team equally comprised of millennials and gen-xers. You know why nobody on my team whines when I say there's extra work to be done? Because I'm the first one to throw myself down to the front lines to do it. 7 Day work weeks are bs, and always the result of management making promises that they don't set up their team to deliver, or of an executive structure that values profits over quality.

7 day weeks are incredibly common in engineering when the unexpected happens and its important to SOLVE the customer's problem. It's called 'Customer Service' a concept which seems to be virtually dead in the US.

I honestly feel sorry for you, everything in your life is just one negative thing after another. Not to mention everything in your post is just flat out false. Yea people should just do nothing but work for 7 days a week for months straight and not say a word, I mean who needs to see family or friends or actually have a life outside of work those poor fools with their priorities all mixed up

I have news for you, in todays screwed up world if you don't do this you will be REPLACED by someone who will.

Ah, the same old "omg all millenials suck guys!!!" drivel from the same bitter old people; all with zero factual evidence. But our resident mentally ill LIAR could care less about facts.

Millenials have a problem they expect the world to adapt to them. Reality check its not going to happen. The good thing is after a while most millennials figure out tha the world post college is much different and really does not care about you personally

Let me get this straight- a recruiter lies to, or at the very least misleads someone in order to enlist them when they might not otherwise do so, creating a false expectation within the enlistee of what their time in the service will be like, and the enlistee is somehow the bad guy here? That's rich.

Anyone who believes a recruiter needs their head examined. Best man at my wedding who is a police lieutenant IRL and a master seargeant in the military has had 5 tours in the sandpile. To people thinking of enlisting he always points to the line that says 'the needs of the service' and tells them thats the most important line in the contract.

And as to getting their preferred training well thats BS unless they score in the top 2% in the ASVAB tests, For the other 98% well they will be trained as whatever the military needs at the moment cooks, bakers, quartermasters, combat engineers etc

The real value of the military experience is discipline, teamwork and it tends to burn out racism as well because you will be living in a racially diverse milleu and you will be under the authority of different races as well. Which allows the rational to learn no matter what people look like they are all pretty much the same with the same hopes fears and desires

They detected my vpn when I tried. I already have CBS streaming but I wanted to see if would work.

Ah, it used to work before Netflix came to Germany. I knew people who got an US Netflix subscription and used it to watch Netflix with a VPN. But I guess Netflix got wiser now... And the trip to Europe to actually change location (and not just virtually) will rarely be more affordable than the CBS subscription. ;-) But anyone who happens to have a trip planned might benefit from this.

The more I hear about SW:GE, the less excited I get. I once thought at the very least we would get two of the top attractions in the world. That sure is looking more like one great attraction and one average one unless you're a SW crazed fan and like everything Disney does with the IP.

I assume that the great attraction will be the First Order one and the average will be the (Star Tours X Mission Space) Millenium Falcon one ?
Ain't that always how Disney does it, though ? Opening a big E-ticket along with more modest rides that still help eating the crowds ?

With that said, I have big expectations for the First Order ride : from the vehicules and the announcements, I expect nothing short of "Spider-Man with AAs" (even though it will be hard for any ride to be better than Spidey)

Disney getting out of video games themselves and now simply licensing out their IP was a pretty stupid move especially now that Star Wars is stuck with EA, one of the worst publishers out there for their practices. There's a reason they were voted worst company in America multiple times. I remember how cool Star Wars 1313 looked which was then canceled because Disney shut down LucasArts.

The biggest loss for me though was Epic Mickey. Talk about an amazing concept if only they had the right talent behind it. Now it'll likely never see the light of day again with a well deserved reboot.

Agreed 100%! Electronic Arts has been in the gutter for years. Disney is foolish to not suck it up and find some people with passion for gaming and setting them loose on all their IPs.

I have had multiple 22 yr old college grads who believed their recruiter that if they enlist they will get picked to go to officer candidate school in their first year. Then ask why they have to take out the trash, swab the decks etc and then say but I have a degree. And are generally useless and should be kicked out for being unfit for duty. It's a very common occurrence, So I have to agree with you whole heartedly

Yep on the corporate side they think why am I not immediately placed in a leadership role... Um because you need to demonstrate leadership ability that shiny new degree is useful for one thing only getting your first job. After that its all about your performance especially your performance under pressure.

As to OCS if they had a brain and access to Google they would have found out they could apply directly for an OCS slot without enlisting!

I would love to know who thinks 2 attractions constitutes a "land".

DLP's Adventureland only have two rides and still is a full land and arguably one of the best themed in any Disney park.

By the way, don't wanna sound rude or anything, but for the sake of all readers, maybe we could keep this topic theme park related, and not polluting it with discussion about millenials or digging old posts just for the sake of saying "yeah, i agree with you !". Just saying.

So these college grads are so naive to think a military recruiter is telling them the whole story, I have to laugh. Recriuters are only interested in meeting their quota so they can keep their cush jobs. I enlisted after getting my draft notice and was told one thing and got someting totally different. Aircraft mech. turned out to be weapons mechanic still went to Nam--naive 18 year old. Life leason don't beleive everything you are told
