A Save Walt Disney World Website

Back when Paul Pressler was the president of Disneyland and the resort was in its own state of Declining By Degrees Al Lutz maintained a website trying to promote Pressler to somewhere else in the company so that Disneyland might become as get as it could be. The website was full of pages about what went wrong with Disneyland and why Pressler should be kicked out of it. Essentially, it was a save Disneyland website dedicated to making the park a much better place. Eventually, it worked and Pressler was promoted. Therefore, I think it would be a great idea if someone built a similair website dedicated to showing people how Disney World has been in a state of decline and what people can do to help. I have absolutely no idea how to build a website so I was wondering if anyone here knew how to do it.

I heard one was under construction somewhere.

And that's a fundamental problem right there. If someone is failing in their current job duties & responsibilities promoting them is NOT the thing to do. Demoting and/or firing them is. Perhaps if these high-n-mighties had to face the same consequences the rest of the world does they'd get off their sorry tookuses and do the job they're being paid to do instead of letting things go straight to h-e-double-hockey-sticks so they can get a nice promotion. What incentive is there for them to do a good job? None. :hammer::hammer:

And, yes, I agree there should be a list started of all the things that don't work, are in disrepair, show obvious signs of neglect, etc. The list needs to be made very public, too. Heck, send copies of it weekly to the many powers-that-be just so they know that their guests do notice.

^^ Haha. Nice.

Meg Crofton should get "promoted" back to the resort hotels, along with a few others in her circle.

I don't know what's happening with the savewdw.com thing. The last I heard Epcot Explorer was helping out with it and then he disappeared. Kevin Yee was supposedly helping out, too. I don't know what's become of it now, unfortunately.

I'm all down for it.

Be most Happy to write an article regarding the current version of the Tiki Room versus the Tropical Serenade and why the current Disneyland version would be great for WDW.... PM me if interested...want to help do my part.

Krack: Nice selection. I miss this thing specifically:

It was modern, it was something you couldn't see anywhere else (like most of Future World was on the day it opened), and there was absolutely no reason to remove it ... it's the perfect example of a dumb management decision.

Seeing all those photos makes me wish I'd been to WDW more as a child.:(

My parents only took me once in 1992 when I was 9, and we didn't go to EPCOT because some other parents told them it was "boring" and a "waste of time"...dumbasses. I feel like I was robbed of a piece of my childhood because of them - gah!

I'm about the same age as you.

A lot of people thought EPCOT was boring because 'learning is boring'.

I remember when I was a kid that most of my schoolmates would opt to go to Universal Studio and Magic Kingdom when they went to Orlando.

Back then EPCOT was 'too boring' and (MGM) Studios 'didn't have enough stuff'.

As a child I think I thought I liked MK the most, but when I look back at what I remember/love the most..... my thoughts always go back to EPCOT.

You were totally robbed. I wish more of today's guests had seen Epcot Center back in the day. Given the current state of things I'd venture to say a lot of the powers-that-be didn't see it then either. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I am guilty of the "learning is boring" attitude. Our senior trip was to WDW back in '85 and I went on one ride in Epcot and decided it was "boring". I can't remember if we left or what we did but I didn't fully experience Epcot till I got married and we honeymooned in WDW. Fell in love with it, especially World Showcase. Now I take my kids on all the rides, even the "learning" ones and we've had discussions after coming off them. I just hope my kids don't have the attitude I did!

It took a certain state of mind to appreciate EPCOT Center. Unfortunately, I believe that as time progressed, the amount of people that appreciated EPCOT Center as EPCOT declined.

Hence, the transition to current day Epcot.

I've been visiting WDW since the late 70's/early 80's, of all the parks I think EPCOT has always been one of my favorites. I've always been partial to AA heavy attractions and back in the early years, just about 99% of all EPCOT attractions were AA heavy.

I'm really surprised my parents listened to them, because we were always one of those nerdy families that took "educational" vacations and went to a ton of museums and historical sites. Plus my sister and I were voracious readers. I wish we'd gone because I know I would have loved the World Showcase, Horizons, and the original Living Seas & Imagination. EPCOT is my favorite park and I wish I had experiences there to look back on like I do at MK and MGM...esp since so many of the classic rides are gone (unlike at MK and MGM where most of them are still around) :(

But at least I know my hubby and I will get to cart our kids there someday :sohappy:
