A really great post on the state of Epcot

The one glimmer of hope for me is that it doesn't seem like that long ago from that late '80s time period (b/c high school seems like yesterday) when things at Epcot were at their peak and Studios was new. So I'm hoping things can change back to that in a similar time period, which Studios is looking like it has hope with the upcoming changes, but Epcot still needs that push of major refurbs to Future World. I'm just relying on time perception to get me through this low point of no real EPCOT Center at this point.

This only works if it doesn't get lower and lower which seems to still be the trend (at least to me).

That is generally correct. The Dreamflight song wasn't near as catchy as the If You Had Wings song. I think Mr. @AEfx was referring to (going off an ancient memory since I really don't want "If you had wings" lodged in my brain, I know the way my brain works and it would be stuck there if it was actually heard) is the end where you fly off into the clouds.

Ughh ... that song is stuck in my brain now!

Disney has had a (bizarre) loss of confidence in its ability to create original, standalone theme park experiences. Limiting every new ride to an existing movie or character is what is killing creativity.
Unfortunately, the entertainment industry in general is suffering from the same issue. We see sequel after sequel and remake after remake for a reason. No one wants to take chances, too much risk.

Because management thinks that Wall St is their customer not the people paying for the product.

the irony is still that most kids didn't like EPCOT at the time..

The whole WS thing was more like being dragged through the mall.. while FW was pretty damn cool.. yet you never could get a turn on the coolest Communicore exhibits.

I miss FW deeply.. but World Showcase I think is a victim of the reality of cheap travel and the internet. We really don't need postcard versions of different countries... you need to do something deeper and more engaging.
