i miss legend of the lion king, why couldn't they of taken out something else and put PhilharMagic in there? WHY?!

I was told a while back ( as i also loved this great show..) by a Entertainment CM that the main reason was because they had dfficulty keeping the show staffed. Puppeteers are apparently hard to come by..GOOD puppeteers...that can operate the fantastic and complex characters used in that show. To this day i beleive, casting for puppeteers is in demand.

So yeah..the fact it was a show that used the lifesize character puppets was it's downfall. Also, i'm sure the labor costs was pretty high when you factor in all the "onstage" CM's and all the "under the stage" ones to run the show on a daily basis. With a movie attracion like Phiharmagic, you need ...what 3 "onstage" CMs to run the show daily?

I knew the show would not last too long, as there were already several LK themed shows on property at that time and no doubt the labor costs and castings issues forced "Legend of the LK" to close after only a couple of years.

Agree I miss World of Motion, Horizons, Journey into Imagination.

Do not think Mission Space or Test Track is bad but I still like the orginal attractions better.

Like I said in another thread I am waiting for Disney to gut Space Ship... fine for the old E.P.C.O.T. but way too boring for Epcot. Disney can replace it with some 2-5 minute thrill ride with an on average has a 2 hour wait line.

If M:S lasts another 2 decades

- it`s hardly been the showstopper Eisner hoped for.
Michael never wanted the ride... :lookaroun

We've loaded him into a mock space capsule and locked it and kept him there for about 3 hours to get the green light for Mission: Space.

Soo...

And... Horizons had to go one way or the other... it was sinking into the ground... because of the water table...

So not just distruction... Progress stepped in...

Corrus, can you actually confirm the sinkhole theory once and for all? A simple yay or nay? There`s so much that dosn`t add up about it.

Well... it's true... and it was very difficult to tear it down because of all the metal... In the early days, they never thought about the weight of the building...
The building had to be closed... with or without the coming of Mission: Space...

So YAY... :D :D :D

When it comes to the past attractions, I have to say Epoct has lost a few attractions that probably didn't need to move on with the future.

I can say WOL was a great pavilion to just have fun in, the hands on exibits did keep me occupied for a good time and Crainium Command was probably the hidden gem of not only to WOL, but Epcot itself. It was a really nice show that had a great sense of humor and never got boring to me.

With the Imagination Pavilion, even though I have never experienced the original JIYI. Looking at pics and videos of it makes me wish they just upgraded it in effects and didn't redo the attraction. Though hopefully the future looks bright for it from certain rumors, I just pray it get's back up to the charm and grace it had in it's original version.

With MK, I did enjoy Legend of the Lion King very much. I thought it was great with the introduction with Rafiki to the effect of the stampede scene. But I do understand why it had to go, costs of all the people that have to present it was probably a major factor. That and Festival of the Lion King took in the crowds the best.

Thankfully the change from Legend of the Lion King to Philharmagic was one of the rare moments where the new attraction was a worthy replacement. Philharmagic is hands down the best 3D show Disney has ever come up with IMO.

Sadly the change to AE to SGE is not the case. In fact it's a good example on how NOT to replace a original attraction with a francished character attraction. Losing AE hit me the hardest then the loss of all the other past attractions, that happens when apparently it was and still is my favorite attraction at Disney.

While I do know there are people that do enjoy SGE, I will deeply admit there is no way I can change my opinion of it. I did go on it with a open heart and mind but it did not deliver a good show. While the AA's were a vast improvement, they just can't hold on their own for a muddled storyline and weak execution. That and Disney overdid it with the promotion of the attraction. Shoving it down our throat's a good attraction does not make.

Now I do wish a video of Horizon's existed, since I really don't know much about it. While I do like M:S, I am curious on how good was Horizon's.

I just hope they don't put in a poor attraction like Mission Space in its place.
In my opinion Mission Space is bad!

Just my opinion, but Mission Space is one of my favorite thrill attractions and I never much liked Wonders of Life.
But that's just my opinion.
