A wise man once wrote: "only the good die young" and this is especially true for the wonders of life at the E.P.C.O.T. center.

This great pavillion, shot down in the prime of life by the iron fist of the history-hating dismy corporation after eighteen short years of existance. I will miss this place, and all that it reprisented. I have so many fond memories there, that any images of the pavilion in its current, sad state brings tears to my eyes.

I am sure that this concept is not foreign to anyone who will post on this thread, as this was one of the greatest attreactions in all of WDW.
If it would make any difference at all, as to the corporation's decisision to close the doors of this symbol of gilded beauty in the center of harmony and friendship, I would gladly offer my hand to the gods of the World.

If you share my sentiments, please, send me an E-mail and we will write up a lettter to the disney brass to save the history of october nineteenth, eighty-nine years past the turn of the last century. Please.

Sad but true. Same for Horizons, Motion, Imagination, Seabase Alpha.....

Things move on. Things change. Unfortunatley their `replacements` often fall short of the originals.

oh, way to play the walt quote card

Another good man once said "EPCOT will always be changing"

thanks, man... I knew about that friggin quote, but the thing is, there is a difference between progress and destruction. If people still like the WOL, why close it?

why?!?!?!

why, "Wannab@dis" ??? why did you have to show me those sad, sad, pictures, man!

i think i'm gonna cry.....

Also, Just because it isn't "Entertaining" doesn't mean it has to be totally replaced! They should just add a new attraction in htere and replace the "Anacomical Players" bull honkey!

Not many share that opinion. In fact, it's very apparant that more guests enjoy M:S than WoL.

I don't care if people share my opinion, I speak for myself. I can think for myself and don't need the masses to share the same thoughts as I do. Like I said I think Mission Space is bad and nothing you or anyone else says will change my opinion. I don't care if I am in the minority.

I agree, but "Mr. Disney expert" Wannab@dis will surely scold you for posting such thoughts on this message board.

:brick: Right... and it makes perfect sense to leave an under performing pavilion open so the few "in the minority" will be happy. :brick:

You're more than welcome to post your opinion. Of course, it's best if you post it in a civil way.

Everyone has their favorites. Everyone has their opinions on them. Everyone probably has experienced the losing of one or more favorite attractions. Mine was 20k in the MK. Ironically, 20 years from now, some of the same people complaining about how crappy M:S is will probably be complaining that Disney is taking it out and putting something new in.

I was last in WoL on Easter Sunday in 2005. Not the week, not the weekend, Easter Sunday proper. The park itself was packed, with especially long waits for Test Track & Mission Space. And even then, Wonders of Life was relatively empty. We walked straight onto the "boarding area" of Body Wars. The wait for Cranium Command was only as long as the remaining running time of the show before it. Ditto The Making Of Me. The hands-on interactive exhibit felt like an afterthought. Listening to (ok, snooping on) other conversations, I got the feeling most people there at that point weren't even people looking for a little elbow room or shorter lines for attractions, but people like most of us, and our families. People that wanted to see it before it went away. People that keep looking for it but it's rarely open when we get there. We were able to do all three attractions in approximately an hour. People might still like it, but there aren't enough of them. Like that show you loved that still got cancelled, sometimes you need more fans to keep something around. Wonder of Life doesn't have 'em.

I think where an interesting divide occurs at EPCOT/Epcot is that we have premises and attractions. No doubt, WOL was underperforming and was failing. Same could be said for the original UoE, WoM, Seas, and, to an extent, the Land (I am not as convinced on Horizons and IMAG, but there are other factors in play for those). However, there is a difference between abandoning the attraction and abandoning the premise. The importance, inspiration, potential fun, etc. of the human body, medicine, and health have gone nowhere. So, to abandon that would be unnecessary. However, to revamp, redesign, and update would promote progress. Build upon what works; change the PARTS that don't.

I will forever claim that that is the premise that Walt wanted and appreciated. He was not one for change; he was one for progress. There has always been a large part of what EPCOT was/is that has worked. Therefore, by maintaining the part that works (even if it is as simple as a theme and a name) and trying new things in the parts that don't can create an ever-evolving, positive envrionment. You maintain the fans more easily and bring in new fans simultaneously. Find a way to do that, and you have found true success.

i totally agree!

well, i agree that "Parts" that fail should be replaced, but absolutely not the cool premise or the awesome (and rather pricey at $100,000,000) building! Although the DNA strand in front of the building is incorrect (i think its a triple helix, not the proper double... if I'm wrong please correct me and don't blame me as I have not seen the complex in a year or two) it is really cool looking! And the inside, though bright-colored and somewhat dizzying if you stare too long ;), it is so awesomely "'80s-Tastic" that it is just..... just..... COOL! there is no other way to describe it....

ya know what? Let's have a vote:

if you say "keep it" e-mail me with a message telling me so
If you say "junk that piece of crap!" e-mail me with a message telling me so
