CG or Aquaduck Water Coaster

Disney Cruise Line debuts a cruise-industry first: a shipboard water coaster … AquaDuck! Guests aboard the Disney Dream will get swept away on an exhilarating high-speed flume ride featuring twists, turns, drops, uphill acceleration and river rapids – all while traversing the upper decks of the ship.
AquaDuck stretches 765 feet in length - more than two and a half times the length of a football field - and spans four decks in height.
Guests slide 13 feet over the side of the ship in a translucent "swing out" loop allowing them to look down on the ocean 150 feet below.
Guests experience coaster-like thrills as high-powered water jets push them upwards and forwards at 20 feet per second.
AquaDuck continues through the forward funnel, encounters a 335 foot stretch of river rapids and splashes down to an end on Deck 12.

TT/MILF

At Disney’s Oceaneer Club, children can:

Play among larger-than-life characters from Disney•Pixar's "Toy Story" in Andy's Room

Explore the Laugh Floor with loveable monsters Mike and Sully from "Monsters, Inc."

Dive under the sea with Nemo and friends or visit Tinker Bell's fairy forest

Interesting to see the coaster onboard. Completely lacking in themeing, but seeing through the clear glass out into the ocean could be awesome...

My 10 year old saw it and was floored.

I like the way the artists rendition shows about a dozen people topside on a beautiful day at sea. Yeah, right. :)

This was my first thought, too!

The "coaster" itself looks really incredible, as do the artist's renderings of Andy's room and the MI stuff.

Looks interesting, but once you do it, then what?:lookaroun:lol:

I am so not a Cruise person:lol:

Then you go eat!!:D

Or you get off the ship and snorkel with sea turtles in the Caribbean, or you swim with Dolphins at Atlantis, or you go see a Broadway caliber show in the theater, and I could go on...

After that you would go eat again...:D

Even **I** can only eat so much...:lookaroun:lol:

I do admit though, Disney cruises do sound better.

Go one time...it will be better than any Disney park vacation you have ever taken, take that from a Disney fan that grew up on the real Disney magic of the 80's. Remember the service you used to get in the parks in the 80's when "all" the CM's cared about their job...that's service you get on board.

THAT right there is what keeps me comming back.

What first attracted me to WDW was the attention to detail and the level of customer service.

Since that time I have come to appreciate other aspects, which is good because the first have gone down the crapper.

However the DCL service is still top-notch.

And aside from eating, shore excursions, and shows there are first run Disney movies, the sports deck, the various programs they run, and while it is technicaly eating, 5 words - 24 hour free room service.

Ah, I just want to be there now.. for the food.

That water coaster looks fantastic.. and the themed TT/MI rooms are so cute.

Is the other new ship going to be a similar design?

You know I can understand the need for abrevations and such, but some of these are gettin outragous...MILF...really?

And on the RV forum I also hang out on, TT stands for Travel Trailer. Talk about confusing..YMMV

You'd be surprised how much you can eat. That's all I do on Disney cruises. You look one way and they're handing you as much pizza with any topping that you want, you look the other way and they're giving you burgers, fries, chicken fingers, and hot dogs. Try to escape that and you pass by an elaborate display of fancy desserts, there for the taking. Go back to your room and an entire menu of free room service (cheese platters, cookies, cake, hot dogs, sandwiches, etc) is waiting for you.

And I haven't even mentioned any of the REAL meals yet in the restaurants, or the brunch at Palo or the enormous Pirate buffet. I literally gained 10 pounds in 7 days on the Disney Cruise we took in January. (It didn't take long to lose it once we got home to our regular boring food lol).

My DH and I were just talking about this last night. My DD wants to go to WDW for her 16th b-day instead of having a big party. That won't be until 2013 so plenty of time to save up. So we were looking at the virtual thingy of the water slide and it looked really cool. We decided since we have 3 years to save we would do a 3 day cruise and 4 day land. I was just reading how the teens have their own room on the Disney Dream which is the one we want to go on. She is bringing a friend with her, so I think they will have a great time. I guess I will need to lose a whole lot of weight so I can gain some with all the food available. It looks like so much fun. I don't want her to be 16 too awfully quick but I can't wait to go!!

That sounds great. The way the Disney cruise lines are set up, the adults and kids can spend as much or as little time as you want together.

There are adult only areas, and kid only areas. Then there are family areas.

The supervised kids areas are also open pretty late, so the adults can go down to the club area at night if they wish, while the kids hang out drinking smoothies and talking about whatever it is they talk about.

Just to clarify - the current ships also have teen areas. What is new on the Dream is the "tween" area (10-12)

We plan on going in 2011. My oldest will be 12 at that time. She is excited about the "tween" areas that they are putting on the new ship.
