A Flap in the Right Direction

Yeah, everyone knows about the attendance thing. I just wanted to show an example to the folks here who maybe wondered just how quiet the place can be.

I did see LK... I didn't see GM. I had seen both before, and didn't really care to see GM again. And you're right, I didn't see Turtle Talk with Stitch. But Buzz, Autopia, and SM together probably took me 20 minutes total... That's all of tomorrowland, in 20 minutes.

I did check out the shops and so forth... That's what I did in the evening before the fireworks. I guess knowing that I only had one day there, I wanted to make sure I got all the attractions in that I wanted to, and then did my shopping in the couple hours before the fireworks. But you're right... When I say 3 hours, that's probably a little strong. Didn't take into account the couple things I chose not to do, and strolling through shops and such. Small World wasn't open yet either. And there was only one parade the day I was there.

Yeah. Clearly March isn't as busy August. And there certainly was more to see and do when I was there ... in addition to the fun and quirky Waterworks Parade, they also had the Muppet Mobile Lab going (which I found very kewl, even if it was all in Mandarin) ... but I did stop and take pics and take in details ... still, it's easily a one day experience to me now... but boy I wish I could go back tomorrow. Of course, I absolutely LOVE Hong Kong and Macau anyway ...(people will start calling me a DoM or a Pixie Dust snorter if I talk much more about HKDL!)

I liked the JC as well, as far as appearance and everything. The guide was rough... I maybe could make out about 30 words the whole ride, one of which was "muzzah-in-raw", which just cracked me up, and got me stared at the rest of the ride. I just found it funny that they were using a mother-in-law joke that I was sure nobody understood. Also, there was someone sitting right next to the skipper with a clipboard taking notes and critiquing the entire time. That bugged me, and definitely broke the "reality" of it. I didn't really "get" the last scene, but so be it. No harm done.

The final scene is a bit underdeveloped (fire and water gods facing off with you stuck in the middle), but is still kewl ... it just makes the attraction more unique.

I also loved that there are AAs that can only be seen from the RR when you hit the Jungle Cruise area.

Those are the little touches that I expect from a Disney park.

I would disagree with you on Space Mountain. The ride was great. But the fact that there's basically ZERO que really bothered me. You walk in the door and BAM! there's your rocket ship. Other than that, loved it.

Well, I don't disagree that there ie very little themed queue ... but I'll excuse that because the ride rocks.

To play the flipside, look at Kali River Rapids. Amazing queue. Beautiful ... loads of detail. And an off-the-shelf raft ride that's short, soaking and sucks.

As for walking the park... My family always complains that I'm 5 steps ahead of them. I definitely walk at a pretty good clip. But if I can throw a baseball literally probably twice and go from one end to the other, that's tiny. BEAUTIFUL... But tiny. I mean, compare that to DLP (the next most recently built MK style park) and the difference is immeasurable. Literally.

You are absolutely correct. It's why I need to get back to DLP (haven't been since my last AP expired in 2007) ... but what I love about HKDL is the template is there for an amazing world-class Disney resort.

You don't have to take it apart and redo it a la DCA or DSP ... all you have to do is take what's there and add ... and that's what started last year with Small World and is now really going to pick up steam.

Of course, having Ratatouille coming to DSP and perhaps a Star Tours 2.0/Mermaid combo all being added for the 20th make Paris a very exciting prospect in the future as well.

My food experience consisted of the burger place in T-land (EEK!) and a pizza at the bar of the hollywood themed hotel after the fireworks. Neither were good. Admittedly, I didn't try a few of the places you did. I was checking out menus of places as I went, curious as to what was offered, and didn't see a whole lot I was dying to try. I guess I was comparing it to TDL, where even the counter service stuff is better (MUCH better at times) than even here in the States. That was my barometer.

I've heard mostly good things about TDR food, except for portion size (hey, only Americans can eat half a cow in one sitting and want dessert too!) and lack of vegetarian options (I'm not one, so it doesn't affect me).

But I did LOVE the food at HKDL, but I didn't do the burger place (was that Starliner?) ... I did consider the bar at Hollywood Hotel before I saw the prices at Chef Mickey's. The food was really top-notch (no characters during dinner, they stay outside in the hall ... where they belong!) and watching how the locals eat at a buffet is a priceless cultural lesson I will never forget (TIP: If you go back, get there when it opens and grab as much food as you can early!)

Do you have an opinion on the Fireworks Show? From vids that I've seen it looks stunning, from the pyro, to the music, to the lighting...:D:eek:

I do ... it's great.

(But I have NEVER seen a bad Disney pyro show at any of their parks anywhere, ever!)

I actually like it more than Wishes because the soundtrack is better (not so much moppets singing about dreams, magic and wishes.

The lighting and projections on the castle are terrific too!

I think it's the lighting that does it for me. So crisp...and so easy to bring to WDW and MK, too.

And why not EPCOT....

Precisely. Who wouldn't want to believe there's someone in a position of significant authority within TWDC whose personal mission is to restore excellence to WDW?

Personally, I (and, I'm an optimist to a fault) don't believe JT. He's just not convincing.

Time will convince you. All I have said is something major will be coming to the MK within 5 years. Not much of a stretch IMO.

Same here. If you could get a clear answer to a question instead of some misdirection talk from him it would be helpful. As it is, he seems like a magician. He's trying to get you to look at his right hand while the left hand is actually doing the trick.

Again, my only claim is that there will be a major addition to the MK within 5 years.

Now there is that "sheriff" thing people keep talking about but I'm not talking. You have to figure out that by yourself.

By the way, it's mainly other people who keep bringing the subject up. Not me so much.

sorry to say it Jt, but you bring it up A LOT. not just in this thread, but all over. it is just getting a little frustrating that you mention this "sheriff" all the time and clame to know so much about the future about WDW but you never, EVER back yourself up with FACTS. if you actually had facts or named a name, i think everyone would appreciate it a lot and get off your back about this thing. until then, it's honestly, getting a bit annoying im sorry to say

I'm limited in what I can say. I am being serious but it includes a bit of satire too. It's all in fun for the most part but with a grain of truth and is meant to be taken in a spirit of fun. We are discussing theme parks. There should be some fun too.

i understand that it should be in fun. but when you are making these large predictions that busiest theme park in the world is getting new E tickets and whatever else, they need to be takin seriously and not "just for fun
."

If this was just general, "i really like space mountain, it's my favorite ride" type talk, then that's just fun. not when you make strong predictions, and claim to know so much more than everyone else, yet wont provide any proof what so ever, just a "take my word for it" view of it

Backing up jt's claims with facts would go along way to helping his rep.. But, he continues to fail epicly... The sheriff nonsense has gotten old... And now he claims something coming to MK in the next 5 years... When 74 and others said nothing coming for 5 years, he went all willie nillie saying that is too long of a time frame... Now, it is 5 years... Why???

Jt, please, do us a favor, stop the nonsense and be more rational, or out everytyhing you know and back it up with FACTS...

It would be funny if you were to tell us who it is. Let us in on the "joke" so to speak.

It actually might earn you some credibility.

I have made no "large predictions" save you will see something added to MK (e ticket) within 5 years. WDW74 is wrong. He was also wrong about the claim that the AC was already mostly gutted. So maybe you should be directing this stuff towards him.

The joke is the person I'm refering to is not really a sheriff. But will probably be viewed as such.

 so i guess now a days, a new major Eticket is not a large prediction???

im sure you are talking about TLM but i really dont see that coming in the next 5yrs. now if you backed it up with FACTS i would honestly respect you a lot more. until then i cannot take anything you say seriously, along with many other people on this site
