A Disney Honeymoon (or how to get your husband to buy into the Disney lifestyle)

Hello everyone! I hope you enjoy this trip report! My husband and just got back from our Disney World and Disney Cruise Line honeymoon, and to help with my back to reality depression, I've decided to start on this trip report.

I'll give you guys a little bit of background first. Before this trip, I had been to Disney World five times (once as a child, once as a teen, and three times as an adult). And every time I've loved it. Whenever I see Cinderella Castle it's like I'm nine years old again and seeing it for the first time. As an adult, I traveled with my best friend Megan (a fellow Disney World fan) and her son Brett. But our last trip was two years ago! I was seriously having withdraw.

This time I went with my husband, Justin. He has never been to Disney before (I know its hard to imagine). He as tolerated my Disney obsession very well. But of course when we were talking about were we wanted to honeymoon my first thought was "Disney!" Justin resisted, he wanted to do a cruise. So our compromise was to do a Disney Cruise. I've lived - and will probably always live - in Illinois, so if I was already going to Florida, there was no way I was going to miss a trip the Disney World. So after a couple months of constant pestering he caved.

Because I paid for half of the wedding myself, we honestly didn't have the money to go right after the wedding, which was in May. So we used most of the wedding money to pay for the trip and went on our honeymoon from October 4th through the 11th.

As usual, I booked my ADRs and planned the itinerary, which I honestly think is half the fun. I was ready.

But then that stupid thing called reality hits me. And by that I mean a deer...I hit a deer two days before we were to leave. I hit a deer in my BRAND NEW CAR. No one needed a vacation like I did. We drove to St. Louis on Oct 3 - after Justin got off of work - and stayed at the Best Western by the airport. It wasn't the greatest hotel, but we would have spent that much in parking for a week. If we hadn't had stayed the night in St. Louis we would have had to leave around 3 in the morning to make our early flight. They had a shuttle to the airport and parking was included. It was totally worth it.

Some time around 7am, waiting for our flight.

We stayed at the All Star Music. I had booked a preferred room and it was well worth the extra money. We were in the Calypso building, right next to the main building.

We went to Downtown Disney to pick up a couple personalized Christmas ornaments, then headed over to Epcot for some drinking around the world. This was a big highlight in how I convinced Justin to go to Disney in the first place, and I thought that after being up since 430 that morning, it would be a nice, relaxed evening.

But of course by then we were starving. And when my husband gets hungry, he gets the temperament of a toddler, so we stopped at the first place we saw trying to pacify him. It was the Electric Umbrella.

DSC00855_zps91eec10b.jpg

Has anyone ever watched the YouTube video with Hitler trying to get an ADR to Le Cellier and can't and he talks about how the Electric Umbrella stinks? If not, please watch it, its freaking hilarious. But getting back to the TR, Hitler was right - the Electric Umbrella is NOT good. We both got bacon cheeseburgers and I was expecting something like Cosmic Rays. I still don't understand how the same food can be so different. Oh well, learned my lesson.

But the best way to get over that lapse in judgement is a fiesta margarita from Mexico!

Did anyone notice all the clouds in the background of the last picture? Yeah, I started raining, then pouring, and then raining some more....but more on that tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who has commented so far!

So back to the TR. It started raining. And I'm sure as many of you know, it doesn't just rain. It was freaking pouring. But that was not about to stop our drinking around the World Showcase.

Some rosa regale in Italy

After the World Showcase, we decided to seek shelter at the Seas with Nemo and Friends. At the end of the ride, we looked around the aquarium and one of the dolphins was literally swimming circles right next to us. It was awesome!

And saw some stingrays.

Justin didn't want to stay for IllumiNations and after promising he would watch a previous recording I had of it, we went back to our room. Like I had said, we used the Magical Express, and had not had our luggage when we checked into our room. I was slightly nervous about this because I had never used it before. But I never needed to worry. Not only did we have our luggage waiting for us, but we had wedding balloons too! I was so excited! And that is the Disney difference!

I can't wait to see the aquarium my girlfriend is big on animals...especially dolphins :) And that is the Disney difference, I never knew they even did that at the resorts. Don't get me wrong, it's not the biggest thing in the world its 3 balloons but that isn't the point. Something simple as that makes your stay and memories just that much more special, great touch.

We started out the next morning pretty early and for good reason - we had three parks to hit! We started with hearty breakfast of mickey waffles at our resort.

DSC00881_zpsc1c214a2.jpg

And then headed to the Animal Kingdom for the opening
DSC00884_zpsa49b05f6.jpg

We grabbed some fast passes for Kilimanjaro Safaris and high tailed it to one of my all time favorites - Expedition Everest. The wait was so short we rode it twice.

And then back over to Kilimanjaro Safaris. We were wearing our "happily ever after" buttons and one of the cast members must have seen them and let us sit in the front row.

Ok, several things here. 1) I still can't believe you ate there. I am so highly disappointed in your restaurant picking judgement and I can't get over it. You are waaaaay too nice to your husband lol 2) we used magical express before. But I don't remember them delivering our luggage either? Remember, it was when we stayed at pop and they set my luggage on fire? So obviously we picked up our own luggage, because I remember seeing the poor bag with the gaping, burning hole in the side coming down the belt. And dragging my 50 pound bag halfway across creation to the 80s building and thinking my arm was going to fall off. Why did we pick up our bags? Maybe because it was so late? Idk. 3) I can't believe you guys missed illuminations :( it makes me sad. But you had Rosa regale, so that is kind of better. 4) mickey waffles. Yum. I'm sure they were better there than in your machine at home :) 5) you can't go without me again. Sorry. We will just have to take my slew of children next time lol. I will need someone to help me keep track of them anyway :)
Ok. Continue :)

Oh and p.s. that is a spotted eagle ray. Not a sting ray. Lol.

Steph (assuming it's Steph because if the username!), awesome TR so far! I love how many pictures you took - especially love how animated Justin was in the phone booth, hahaha.

Props to you for convincing on Disney Cruise AND Disney World. I must learn of your skills!

Keep up the awesome work.

Megan:
1. Just wait until you go next year with a baby, a 10 year old and your husband and we'll talk.
2. The Magical Express will take care of your luggage if you arrive before 10pm. I think when we did use it we got to Orlando just after that.
3. I was also sad that we missed IllumiNations, but the Rosa Regale was DELISH! It just tastes better in Epcot :)
4. While the Mickey waffle machine you gave me for my bridal shower is awesome, Disney World still has the best.
5. Agreed, I can't go without you. Maybe next time I will have a kid and we can rent a villa from someone in the vacation club.

After Kilimanjaro Safaris, we rode my least favorite ride - Dinosaur. This ride literally scares the bejeezes out of me. And yet some how every time I go I get talked into riding it. I'm pretty sure the main reason Justin wanted to ride it was just to see me freak out on it but whatever, I was just glad he wanted to ride something.

DSC00917_zps0b176ba4.jpg

We sat in the front row, and I'm pretty sure it was because the cast member saw our "happily ever after" buttons. Great, just what I wanted - a front row to the ride that terrifies me.
DSC00918_zps73c0f2a5.jpg

After that we stopped by the Tree of Life for some photo pass opportunities. And once I get my photopass cd in, I'll put those on here too. Then we hopped on a bus to Hollywood Studios were we grabbed a fast pass for Tower of Terror and did the standby line for the Rock n Roller coaster.

IMG_0163_zpse69225d0.jpg

Next up was Star Tours. And let me tell you - it is awesome! It was the first time I had been since they had redone it and it is amazing!

DSC00919_zps9aca3706.jpg

Anyone remember this guy?
DSC00922_zps7eab5b3d.jpg

By this time it was really hot with the full power of the sun beating down so it was time for my required mickey ice cream bar
IMG_0166_zps943752d2.jpg

Our fast passes were ready to be used so we rode one of my favorites - the Tower of Terror! This turned out to be Justin's favorite ride. I swear, his butt came 2 feet off of the seat on the drops!!

I've been telling Justin about how amazing the turkey legs were amazing. And after having them for lunch that day, he totally agrees.

IMG_0168_zpsce40ec38.jpg

After an hour or so rest at the hotel, next up was my favorite park - the Magic Kingdom! When I think of Disney World, the Magic Kingdom is the picture in my head. I don't think Justin was overly impressed with it, but I think thats because he never went as a child. We had tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party so we packed our costumes in my backpack to change into later.

DSC00933_zps4272bb4d.jpg

We headed over to Tomorrowland to get fast passes for Space Mountain and rode Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin to pass the time. And I totally SMOKED him!!!
