A couple questions regarding EMH

We plan to visit from April 13 (Sunday) to 21 (Monday) next April. Easter is on March 23 next year.

On Sunday, April 20, I have planned to visit Magic Kingdom (with the assumption that Sunday will still be evening EMH day like it was this April). I thought we would have supper at Liberty Tree at 6 or 7 PM, with the assumption that the park would close at 9 or 10 and then be open for evening EMH.

However, it occured to me today that the day in question will be exactly 4 weeks after Easter Sunday. So I'm thinking it may be more realistic to assume that Magic Kingdom will be open until 6 or 7 that day. First of all, does that sound about right?

Second, what about having supper at 6 or 7? Since evening EMH would allow us to be in the park until 10 PM or so, would Liberty Tree still be open for service at the time that the park would be closing to the rest of the public?

Third, for those of you who are "EMH veterans", how do you think crowds would be at Magic Kingdom on a Sunday evening with extra magic hours 4 weeks after Easter? The easter rush would be over, the kids would mostly be back in school, except for those whose parents pull them out of school to take to WDW and the parks would presumably be alot less busy for this general time period. Should I expect to be able to do alot of rides during the EMH hours?

The whole point of wanting to stay for EMH is to make up for the time lost in the afternoon when we go back to the resort for my wife to rest. This might be our only day at that park (depending on how early we arrive on the previous Sunday, we may go for a few hours then) and if we head back to our resort at around 1 PM or so and don't come back until around supper time, I would like to think I could catch alot of rides during those EMH hours when the rest of the general public has left the park. Only problem is, if you do the math on how many people the various resorts can fit at one time, you could easily end up with enough people to crowd the park just from Disney resort guests. And if they all come flocking to Magic Kingdom during EMH, then so much for making up for lost time from the afternoon.

Also, do they have any Wishes or Spectro Magic showings during the EMH hours? Do the fastpass machines work during EMH hours?

Not necessarily. I just scanned park hours for this year in April and May and every Sunday, MK closed 9 pm at the earliest, sometimes 10 or 11. If this was the case, you'd have no major problem with your dinner question. But, if this is not the case ...

Second, what about having supper at 6 or 7? Since evening EMH would allow us to be in the park until 10 PM or so, would Liberty Tree still be open for service at the time that the park would be closing to the rest of the public?

Dining after park closing is slim pickings at MK. Cosmic Ray's and P' Bills, if I recall. For Liberty Tree, I'd suggest getting there before park close. Of course, if park close isn't until 9 or 10, like I mentioned before, that wouldn't be a problem.

Personally I find the MK most manageable, in any season, for EMH - reason being that MK has so many attractions open for EMH, it spreads out the wait times fairly nicely. I wouldn't imagine the EMH's would be as bad as they would be in the summer, and during the summer I've gotten all of the mountains nearly walk-ons towards the end of EMH, with Fantasyland attractions keeping pretty good waits throughout.

Also, do they have any Wishes or Spectro Magic showings during the EMH hours? Do the fastpass machines work during EMH hours?

During busy seasons they will run Spectro once during EMH. And fastpasses are hit or miss. Some attractions use fastpass throughout EMH, some do not. And it seems to change daily. One day BTM is using fastpass during EMH, the next day it isn't. Usually most of the fantasyland attractions will still use fastpass throughout EMH. I'd just kind of go with the flow, and if the attractions are using fastpass, then great!

Overall, it will be lot easier for your questions to be answered in a few months, when the times are out, and you don't have to speculate. You'll still have plenty of time to plan. Enjoy your trip!

The only evening EMH that would effect wife and I when we are there in December would be Epcot. If Future World has a listed closing of 7:00 and World Showcase of 9:30 then we should expect what? 10:00 and midnight?

EMH at Epcot is usually 9-12. And that includes both FW and WS.

Just to give you a heads up on crowds. That week that you are going is April vacation week for many schools up here, so the parks may be more crowded than you think.

Are you sure about that?

Easter is March 23rd next year so I would have thought most schools were open again by the 13th. I'm going on the 14th so I hope so!!!

I'm positive - my husband is a teacher here. We don't get an "Easter break", It's always "April vacation". Most schools in our state are out that week, and lots of people go to WDW then.

Also, I know that there are a few grad nights around those weeks so the MK will close early on a couple of days. I think the Grad nights are the Friday and Saturday though so it shouldn't be a problem for your liberty tree reservations.

I was referring to ADR's, though. Hypothetically, if MK DID close at 6 or 7 that day, when my 180 day mark rolls around in October, would I be able to make an ADR for 7 PM, since I am a resort guest and the park would be open until 10 for resort guests?

Ya, the good news is that it's only a month and a half until Oct 1, when www.disneyworld.com should have the hours posted for April, so I'll find out for sure soon enough.

But I'm sure I don't need to explain to anyone here how it is as far as being so eager and impatient for the info to be released that I can't help speculating and posting about it in the meantime. :ROFLOL:

As far as EMHs go, I feel MK is the best one because it has the most available during that time.

That's good to know, because MK and Epcot are the only parks in which I plan to take advantage of evening EMH. Like you indicated, I was afraid that evening EMH at MGM would only mean throngs of people flocking to the two rides I'd be wanting to be there to enjoy. And same with AK.
