A Change In Strategy

Pretty sure IOA already took the Sinbad theme from them. I don't see Disney going too out of their way to market a non-Disney franchise

I think Sinbad is going away from IOA and being taken over by Potter land. I hope that Universal does a better job with that land than they did with Jurrasic Park. I though the JP theme lent itself to all kinds of rides but basically it's Animal Kingdom with one water ride.

Harry Potter's Playfull Spot at Universal will also probably turn out to be boring, or a one-time only thing, after all the hoopla concerning it.

Hoopla.

Yea, keep telling yourself that, and maybe Wizarding World will just disappear.

If the same, exact kind of ride/land was coming to say, the Studios, everyone here would be jumping up and down for joy.

Honestly, sometimes Disney fans are ridiculous.

The concern of WDW fans, and others, is how well anyone can turn the successful books into a repeatable ride attraction.
I have read all the Harry Potter books and am waiting for the last two movies to finally come out. I'm a Harry Potter fan.

Time will tell how well they do it, or not.

From everything I've heard, it's gonna blow us all away. JK wouldn't let just any old run of the mill attraction get built, so I have faith.

I think it will be big. But the earth-shattering experience which will make Disney look foolish? I'll believe it when I see it.

Not because I am snorting the pixie dust, but because VERY few attractions live up to the hype that people give them.

And I am a BIG Potter fan.

Personally, I hope it is awesome, and I want to experience it. But I just don't believe it will change much of the Orlando theme park landscape.

As of right now, it's not difficult to make Disney look foolish IMO. As of now what do they have going up against it? A half arsed refurb of a 35 year old coaster and a putrid Stitch show? They haven't added anything worthwhile to their flagship park in 15 years.

The point is at least there is something to get excited about in Central Florida. And with Manta being a spectacular coaster from what I've heard from friends, Disney needs to step up its game.

The ride has AAs, the robocoaster aspect, and supposed interactivity. I don't see how it can be a miss.

For sure.
JKR and her people have been looking over Uni's shoulder very closely during the whole project. (Some at Uni would say too closely.)
Imgine if you will, JKR saying to Uni something to the effect of, "No. That's not good enough. Make it better or we walk."
That's not an exact quote....but it's JKR's way or no way over there.
As it should be.:D

Yes. That ride will be quite amazing. More so than any of Disney's recent offerings.

Then I applaud that JK is looking in on the whole experience and look forward to experiencing it myself.:)

You're actually waiting for the last three movies since apparently the final book is such an epic that it couldn't be fit into one move so it will be done in two parts released a few months apart from eachother.

Kinda sounds like someone we all worship. Someone who started the company we love. No?

Which, let's be honest, wouldn't be that hard.

I meant in the sense of telling people building attractions on their work, it's "Not good enough."

Disney could use someone like that looking over Imagineers' shoulders telling them, "Make it better."

I know, I was just making a joke in my own way. Funnier in my head, I suppose.:)

Is there an ETA on when the Potter superawesomeness will be done? I'm not heading to WDW until 2012 (Getting my fix with DL this summer and Tokyo Disneyland/DisneySea next year since I'll be in Tokyo for a wedding) but the boyfriend will be much more receptive to a trip with the mouse if I say one of those days will be for Universal.

I have to say I'm sort of glad my trips are much later then everyones. Hopefully by the time 2012 comes out something new will be at WDW...I can always just head back to DCA to catch Ariel and friends I guess (that should be open by then right?)
