A Boatload of SSE Improvements and more!

With all that's anticipated to happen in and around SSE, I really am surprised that they plan to get it done in 4-5 months. I just really hope Siemens lives up to the hype they've created on this project. Maybe after that, we can get one of their subsidiary companies to sponsor something else in the park. Wouldn't that be nice...

There is no need for off topic nasty comments. Some people like the wand. The wand posts are really annoying. Pick on something else for awhile and make yourself seem a little intelligent.

Ummm... welcome.

Wand threads have become a bit of a joke amongst some regulars over the past year or so. It wasn`t nasty. Just keeping the dream alive.

This is hardly going off topic. The wand is very relevant because all we are waiting for now is the orange county records for the permit to remove it so when it comes down by December half of the people on wdwmagic will have the most amazing Christmas present they could ever ask for.

The "window" is a joke for us pathetic SSE nerds who spent months researching the mysteries of 180top aka the planeterium at the top of Spaceship Earth.

From 1982 until 1994 the planeterium featured a simple, but effective "space station" scene. As you headed down backwards , the area that currently houses the floating news screen and floating digital classroom, are in the space formerly occupied by the space station.

The space station was a simple white painted set, with a few white and pink lights, as well as some blinking lights. It had walls and an overhang ceiling.

A satelite with an astronaunt was within the space station, while another astronaut with a piece of the satelite was outside the space station.

As you headed down backwards, slightly behind you was a window, with a light on, and a little girl was looking out of it to see the astronauts. She moved her head, and even waved to them.

In 1994, when Spaceship Earth was being refurbished, there was no use found for the space station. Both astronauts were removed, and the satelite dish as well as the satelite dish piece were all removed. Also removed were the lights in the space station. The space station itself was painted over black. The window however, a large 3Dimensional object sticking out of the wall, was kept in place due to a lack of budget and time to remove it. The animatronic girl was taken out of the window, her parts used for god only knows what, and the window was boarded up and painted black.

Now that SSE is going to be refurbished again, we have to wonder what will become of the space station scene, and if it will ever be used again. If the rescent comment is true that siemens recently removed the window, all we need to have is a new flash picture to see if it is there for not.

I doubt the air handler units are very big at all, I am not sure exactly what size objects can be transported inside of SSE but most likely these units could be changed out from the inside.

I'd guess they will come in (2) pieces, the motor and fan housing, and then the second piece would be the actual coil. I doubt either of them would bigger than a few feet in either direction. Even if they are larger units they can be site built. Basically carry up the motor, controls, and coil then build the sheet metal boxes around them and connect it to the existing system.

It's about time with the AC repairs. The past three times we visited we were sweating so bad on the ride. Normally, it was a good place to cool off.

Maple Road is to the West of MK. This is the road that leads to the #$*^%&*$^ storage bunkers and landfill on the NW end of the property.

Yes Merf, I have that document included as well I believe. Too bad that it was scanned upside down.:hammer:

I'm surprised noone else caught this... There's something going on at World of Disney, but the papers got mixed up when they were scanned.
The cover page for the monorail beam guards is in there twice. Look at page 2:
http://officialrecords.occompt.com/wb_or1/details.asp?doc_id=29057079

The first page is the same cover page from the monorail beam (you can see the printed file# doesn't match). The diagram is outlining World of Disney building.

It's probably nothing, just electrical work or something, but I thought I'd point it out. It'll probably be corrected when they go to verify it (when the document status goes from S to V). The upside down page will probably also get fixed at that point.

Looks like someone at the OCC office was in a rush today! :)

I was told that some of the audio-animatronics from the space station scene were sealed up in the window as a type of mini time capsule, since they had no other use for them and were running out of time and money. I would be quite interested to see what is actually behind that black window...

Just to elaborate on my crane comment, 2 cranes are currently in Epcot. One in Future World, the other is listed as Epcot general. Both are large mobile truck cranes. Not sure if this machine is capable to take down the wand or not. Anyone know more about these things?

The Maple Road gate is being moved because a new RCFD Fire Station is being built in that area and the gate is in the middle of the construction.

Isn't there already a station that serves this area? I can only imagine they are building a 3rd Station on property to cover expansion that the western way project will bring?
