Trip Report A Whole Lotta Driving Going on!

Hello everyone. Today, Crystal and I make our way to Disney! Our journey started almost 2 weeks ago on July 3. We've been traveling the Midwest and Gulf Coast visiting family and seeing the sites and are currently staying in Tallahassee visiting Brayden at FSU. We made stops in Indianapolis, Carlinville, IL, Amana, Iowa, Madison, WI, Oxford, MS, New Orleans, LA before making it to Tallahassee. We also made brief stops in other states along the way. Getting breakfast with Brayden later this morning before driving to Disney to get Maddy after her shift at Be Our Guest. The plan is to head to Epcot for extra evening hours tonight. I'll post pictures of our journey later. I look forward to sharing as we go.

We started our drive early on July 3 with a goal of reaching Indianapolis by dinner time. We spent the night before driving the final 4 hours before we reached Carlinville, Illinois to visit Crystal’s family

Our first stop was the local meat shop for adult beverages and fresh meats to grill

During our stay in town, we visited the historic “Million Dollar Courthouse” and the old county jail

Just a quick update:

We have arrived at Flamingo Crossings. Just waiting on Maddy and we will be off to check in at AKL

Crystal and I spent this morning at FSU walking the campus

unfortunately, the circus was destroyed by a tornado several weeks ago. Crystal and Brayden had a chance to see the show this past spring before the storm. Sad that it’s destroyed

We then meet Brayden for an early lunch and said goodbye until next week

We are hoping for Epcot later, but it’s pouring now. Made a reservation for Grand Floridian Cafe so that’s where we’re going now

After Carlinville, we traveled to Amana, Iowa. I never heard of Amana until a co-worker suggested it as a stop. We’d never been to Iowa, so we put it on the map.

We stopped at the Ox Yoke Inn for lunch. It’s a traditional German restaurant, and I really enjoyed the food.

We then had a few beers at the Millstream Brewery and the Beer Haus

There was a German Oom Pah band playing at the brewery

We stayed at the Millwright Hotel. It was a really cool place. We had a suite outside the main hotel building. It was a converted mill and they did a great job preserving it’s history

Amana doesn't look to be too far from Iowa City. I may have to check it out next time we're out that way!
