HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

They could not. Projects are not funded that way nor do they work that way.
Yea also they are taking the "second gate" talk slowly. They (government officials and HKDL board) are still discussing on expansions inside the park (Hong Kong Disneyland) instead of the entire resort itself.

I'm still surprised how only HALF of the budget was spent so far with the opening of Castle of Magical Dreams, the addition of the daytime castle show (Follow Your Dreams), a Moana show in Adventureland, the nighttime spectacular Momentous, Ant Man and the Wasp Nano Battle (retheme of Buzz Lightyear), Iron Man Experience and World of Frozen.

Surely the spidey tower and pixar venue cant make up for the other half?

I’m assuming they over supplied budget money to quinjet expecting the revolutionary new technology would be super expensive and they didn’t want the budget to run short

Now that it’s been replaced with a more generic TOT they probably have excess budget but since some of that budget is from the government they want it re-allocated, not just absorbed into the park funds. But they also want the original plans actually built before they discuss re-distributing excess budget

The Pixar zone is entirely independent and the park itself going “see we don’t always need the government to help us pay for everything” and much is why it’s happening alongside the expansion

Really wish they'd bring their Pirates concept back, on the plot east of Grizzly
The park still lacks a proper water ride

I’m not opposed to a log flume in any way but honestly I feel like they could substitute the “water ride” by just making FEA get you a little more wet.

Some seats on FEA do get wet, if it was more like splash in terms of how wet you got on the main drop it could fill the log flume position without much effort

With all this talk about expansion, HKDL will have to restructure backstage sooner than later to create more room. Tokyo has been actively tearing down backstage of Adventureland and now we know why.

I guess the Jungle Cruise will be replaced now in TDR.

The resort doesn’t own any land they could relocate the cast areas to (all they could really do is make them more dense)

There is currently 3 primary cast only areas in HK.

1) north of arendelle/west of space
2) north of Main Street
3) south of Main Street/east of theatre in the jungle

The resort owns no “off park land” they could move these to as the only unused land they own right now is the 4th hotel and the other expansion pad east of grizzly (plus off siting cast areas is a nightmare for the cast especially if the park has land integrity, I don’t know if HK has land integrity or not). Of those three sites the only “useful” pad is north of arendelle but that’s also the hardest to move because that’s the vast majority of cast space anyway. They may be able to condense it and open one more pad directly west of space but it’s debatable, arguably everything east of rehearsal road could be made guest facing but with the design of the lands opening a pad where in that zone would be awkward from a guest flow perspective, they’d probably have to rip down storybook theatre and have it flow from small world’s courtyard

The original park is just starting to run out of land since it’s boxed in on all sides. This was always meant to be countered by the second gate, not condensing the cast only areas

I guess the Dwayne Johnson movie wasn't a big enough hit.

Maybe the foliage will be going. Must say I assumed it would just be a small themed facade entry into a tent.
That'll be interesting. Any guesses on what this "entertainment area" could be? Perhaps a PIXAR stage show or something similar to the Cruella red carpet show in Halloween but themed to PIXAR?
