Okay, I'm totally addicted to the song 1985 by Bowling for Soup and I've been playing it to death. And you have to see the music video. Too funny. Guess it made me wonder WTH happened to all the years gone by. I still feel like I graduated from HS just yesterday. And I'm 32 now.

Sigh, you know the writing is on the wall when they start using your favorite songs for commercials and as the song says, "When did Motley Crew become classic rock?" For all of you who grew up in the '80s, you will totally relate to this song.

1985
by Bowling For Soup

Woohoo
Woohoo

Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One Prozac a day
Husbands a CPA
Her dreams went out the door
When she turned twenty four
Only been with one man
What happen to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress
She was gonna be a star
She was gonna shake her ______
On the hood of white snake’s car
Her yellow SUV is now the enemy
Looks at her average life
And nothing has been alright

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
But she still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoo
(1985)
Woohoo

She's seen all the classics
She knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink
Even Saint Elmo's Fire
She rocked out to wham
Not a big Limp Biscuit fan
Thought she’d get a hand
On a member of Duran Duran

Where’s the mini-skirt made of snake skin
And who’s the other guy singing in Van Halen
When did reality become T.V.
What ever happen to sitcoms, game shows
(on the radio there was)

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
But she still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoo

She hates time make it stop
When did Motley Crew become classic rock?
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop
Stop!
And bring back

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
But she still preoccupied
With 1985

That's a pretty cool song. I turned 8 years old in 1985. I still remember most of the shows I watched back then. I do remember when MTV was actually Music Television, not 90% crappy shows and a little music television. And I remember when music was actually good. Mind you, there have been some good songs and singers recently, we're starting to see an upward trend in that department, but for awhile, IMO, most of the music was just terrible.

Wow! Flashbacks!!!! I graduated high school in 1986 so those lyrics really hit home with me. It is very hard when you realise almost half your life is gone and you have no idea where it went. (You mean I'm REALLY 36?) I can get lost in VH1's "I Love the 80's"

I know!! Even VH-1 sucks now. And I can't remember the last time I ever laid eyes on MTV. It's so lame now. I'm sure the youngins feel otherwise.

I'm kinda surprised nobody has tried to launch another music channel with just music and videos and none of those crappy shows. Something that also focusses on new musical artists that you normally wouldn't hear of as well as different types of music. Rememeber TBS used to have a music channel on the weekends called Nighttracks? I LOVED THAT SHOW!! I thought it was better than MTV because it was nothing but videos.

It has been attempted, The Box, but it was bought out from MTV.

I wasn't born til '89 so I really don't know much about back then. (Sorry for calling it back then! lol) But I really like this song! Right now all I care about is how long til I get my license.

Yeah, I remember The Box. Oddly enough that's where I first heard of Brittany Spears. :hammer: But I guess I'm hoping for someone else to try.

The 80s rocked but I feel very old now that the fashions are around again and I say the immortal words "I remember that the first time round"

"She was gonna shake her...hiney...on the hood of Whitesnake's car"

(God...I still fantasize about that happening to me some day  )

Takes me back. I still listen to 80's music. Adam Ant, The Clash, Squeeze....

Kadee don't worry about 36, I hit 40 this year. My kids saw a picture of me with a a...a...a mullet :zipit: . They just don't realize that back then they were the fashion. I thought I hid those pictures, but we're taking them to see Grease and someone was looking for the pictures of when I was in Grease back in HS. Instead they found the pictures from college, with the mullet.

Great lyrics!!! Geez, this old f@rt remembers every reference mentioned. Speaking of Wham!, I just got George Micheals' new cd and couldn't believe how old he's gotten.........then I just looked in the mirror and said the same about myself :brick:
