7 Dwarves Mine Train

It's the most requested FP because it's the newest. Happens everywhere.

I figured that this is a big part of it.. just like it is so tough to get breakfast or lunch at BoG.. (we were only able to get a ADR for part of our group for breakfast.. still trying to secure seats for the rest of our group.. or figure out who doesn't get to go..)

It's my family's new favorite ride (and we're all adults lol). I think you should definitely try getting on it during EMH. One of my favorite things to do at WDW is check out all the new stuff, even if it's not my cup of tea.

I thinks it's busy because it seems to busy and difficult to get on it. Adding to the hype. I wouldn't get a FP everyday?
We got a midday FP middle of trip and en evening one for the last day of our trip but that one got rained off! Gutted! Also had an early BoG breakfast booking and planned to get in line before the park opened. But even though we had finished breakfast 15 mins before park opening the queue was ridiculous. We had memory maker and hoped for a few ride videos. But only ended up with the one....and we were at the back so if you blink you miss us!

It needs to be done once as its a decent experience.

I haven't been to MK since it opened, I have only seen it through the construction fences a couple months before it actually opened, and on ride videos that have been posted.

I have been intregued by the ride for a while, but most of the reviews that are out there say it is a short, boring, uncomfortable ride that is worth doing once, if you have a FP.. otherwise it is a skipable ride. Yet, getting a FP for it is virtually impossible, and the standby wait times are among the longest on property.

We will be going next week (fly out a week from tomorrow), and we were unable to get FP for it on any of or MK days. I plan on trying to catch it during EMH.

I get that people are more likely to post negative posts (gasp.. :jawdrop: i know, right?) than positive ones.. but Is the ride as bad as the forums make it sound? It seems like it would be a pretty swing and a miss if is the case..

I was unable to get any FP's for it either the first week of this past October. On both of the nights that I was at MK, literally 5 minutes before the park closed I got on line in standby. On both nights the wait said 40 minutes and on both nights I ended up waiting only 20 minutes, and yes I timed it both times. Only a 20 min wait wasn't bad at all.

Try it once. It's personal preference.

We did. Then we skipped it this year.

I'll give you hope then... Keep trying for the breakfast at BoG if you really want it because our last trip the cancellations from others seem to happen about 2 weeks out from out trip, we went from not being able to get any reservations at the parks except for Tuskers to 2 at BoG, Crystal Palace as well as Hollywood and Vine, all of which were completely booked up a month before.

But I must warn you that the breakfast at BoG is bad... If you get a breakfast there before park open it will basically give you a fastpass to the mine train... but its probably the worst breakfast I've had at Disney, makes the Cinderella Castle breakfast seem great by comparison and the Castle was my previous pick for bad breakfast at Disney. Now I know you won't believe me, I had heard some bad reviews of the breakfast before we went so my expectations weren't high... But it was worse than the bad reviews... I had heard their Croque Madame wasn't hot enough and they were true to form, it was luke warm with area that were downright cold as if it had been sitting out somewhere for an hour after being made - so don't order that.... Also avoid the croissant/donut hybrid it was tough and nasty.... So if you go try one of the other items and maybe you'll get lucky... Oh and don't even touch the bran muffin on the pastry dish its like eating cardboard.

If you can't get the fastpass or early BOG breakfast, arrive early for rope drop, be up front walking down Main Street and on the right side, head off to the right spoke from the castle with the herd towards tea party and file into the line for Dwarves. (The CMs will guide people in).
The inside the mine scene is definitely worth the effort, and the smoothness of the ride. However, ride length should be longer and not worth a wait in standby more than 20 minutes. I'm hoping the new toy story coaster is basically what the Dwarves coaster length should have been.

Don't let the haters get you down. The ride is fine. It's not a GREAT thrill ride, but it was never meant to be one. It's different, the cars do not swing all that dramatically but they swing just enough. It's relatively short, but not TOO short. The section inside the diamond mine with the Dwarfs is so cool, and don't forget to look for the Wicked Witch right at the end.

If you don't have a FP, just head over to the ride at rope drope and you should be fine.

I think the ride is worth going on more than once, it's not a MUST DO everytime kind of ride, but it's fun, well themed and different than any other "coaster" at WDW. ENJOY!
It's not hating to have a different point of view or do we have to agree with you? It's short and boring ride IMHO.... Not a must... Is that ok to say?

You know what's funny?

Of course that is okay for you to say! Some people like the ride, which is fine. Some people (like you), hate the ride, which is also fine. So it is hating... :p

I found out the hard way you really have to manage expectations for it to enjoy it. I gave my family no spoilers as we were getting on, and consequently the mere fact of the 120 min wait made them think we were in line for a sizable E-ticket. Their reactions were resoundingly negative, but I thought it was a reasonably fun, if short, little ride. Expectations are everything.

Len Testa talks about how people absolutely can not separate their evaluation of a hotel or restaurant from the cost, and I think the same holds true for rides, with cost as queue length. I imagine the ride will settle into a reasonable place in everyone's estimation after the novelty aspect has worn off and the wait times more accurately reflect guest demand.

We're planning on going in June and hopefully will book the trip by December. How far in advance should I try to reserve our fast passes for this ride? We haven't used the new system yet and it never occurred to me that we might not be able to get on.

I'm not a roller coaster guy by any means; I will ride BTMRR, but not SM. I rode this once and thought it was pretty neat. It was smooth and the theming was really cool. I may ride it again the next time we go, just depends on what the wait will be. I can tell you that my wife loves roller coasters, but she doesn't make it a point to ride this every time we go. I'd say try to do it once and do it right at rope drop or late at night; it's definitely worth riding once just for the experience.

This is pretty much me as well. I don't like Space Mountain, but I like BTMRR. 7D was perfect for me, although we had a FP and I never did check out the regular wait times. I thought it was fun, and I liked all the theming. If you ask my 4 year old daughter about our last trip, this is what she will talk your ear off about. This was her favorite thing that we did on our trip! It's definitely family friendly.

I've had the one at EPCOT.. and really enjoyed it.. is it different than that?
As i said it was tough and nasty, if you know how tough and rubbery bread gets when you microwave it, that was the way it was. Only it wasn't piping hot it was room temp as if it had been nuked and then set aside and forgotten for 30 minutes before being served. I've had the hybrid donuts before and they were better than what we got at BoG. I have a feeling the big problem is they are trying to serve too many people there and the only way to do it is to precook all the food which means it is bound to taste like crap.
