WDW attendance at the moment cannot really support a 5th park, infact it is struggling to support the exisiting 4 parks. While there are of course long range plans, and concepts from WDI, there is no serious consideration of any 5th park at the moment. Before we see any plans circulating in the public domain, there has to be a real intent for it to happen, which at the moment, there isnt.

However, given the right attendance at WDW, Disney Seas sounds like one of a few potential candidates.

Attendance at the parks can't support another park? Sheesh, how crowded does it need to get. Any ride line longer than 1/2 hr is too long IMO.

I like my parks empty too. But the problem is money. In answer to your question, "How crowded does it need to get?" -- it needs to get crowded enough (read: $$$$) that they can afford to run another park.

No one wants another Euro Disney. Disney would have to believe that the new park would generate enough new business to make the project profitable. This could be achieved by increased guest attraction, longer guest visits, increase merchandising, etc. However, there is a limit to such expansion. Animal Kingdom still seems questionable in my mind. If anything, they should continue to expand the current 4 parks for another decade.

In no doubt in my mind, I can definiately see expansion at the world. Will it be in the near future? I doubt it. It will be more like 10 to 20 years down the road. I have a feeling that it will take that long for the travel industry to rebound fully to pre 9/11 and recession numbers. Disney also will not expand to a 5th gate till they have completed and updated their other parks. This includes the water parks and downtown Disney. This is just my opinion. Also, I doubt the new park will be Disney Sea but it would be nice since I will probably never get to go to Tokyo.:D

One thing I just thought of was the fact that another gate would create even greater liabilities in the event of another economic downturn. With more and more areas to support, requiring a minimum staff, the potential for irreversible losses increases. Everyone was complaining about how many attractions went seasonal over the last 2 years. Well, if Disney hadn't had Animal Kingdom to support, then everything at the 'original three' (as they will forever be in my mind -- I know it's arbitrary) would have been easier to support.

The best way to fix that problem, in my opinion, is by adding on to the parks we already have, and not by creating more parks!

Hopefully, Disney will realize that they need to add/fix things to their existing parks before creating another one.

(Hint: Fix Tomorrowland, Toontown, WoL, and especially AK!)

I completely agree. No new parks, fix/expand what you have.
Both Rasulo & Eisner have stated no new stateside parks in the near future. Even DLR's 3rd park has fallen off to the side.
Disney Japan will probably get a new park before the US parks do.
Having said that, has anyone noticed that they have held off on cloning any of the DisneySea attractions for any of the other parks?
I'm not saing that it means anything, just an observation.

But at the same time, I'd rather them build a new park here rather than do another one overseas. :( How can I politely say "I don't care if Japan has WDW." WDW is an AMERICAN icon.

?????????:hammer:

 Um... well... the several things

1) Those are not Disney owned parks. They are licensed parks.
2) Foreign nations far from Disney can support a new park while Florida can't. Only so many people can make it.
3) Why deprive anyone anywhere of Disney?

Well it would be the Oriental Land Company building a 3rd park, not The Disney Company.
(Any bets it will be an updated Epcot/WestCot?)
