50's Prime Time Reviews and Opinions?

I personally do not care for 50s. I went a few times as a kid and I don't remember the food quality, but I do not like being told by a stranger to eat and finish my peas and chicken, even if it is for fun and a joke.

Hey, wheres blackthidot on this thread? Feathers anyone?:hurl:

Only been to 50's Prime Time once to see how it was.
OK. Don't care for the gimmick.

What was great was the fried chicken and the s'mores.
I think you can go there just for s'mores.
They are not camp fire s'mores; they are desert on a plate.

:)

The 50's Prime Time Cafe is the kind of restaurant that's good to go to once so you can say "yes, I was there". It's a nice experience the first time. As you know, it's strictly comfort food, chicken pot pies, pot roast, mashed potatoes, etc. The food is well prepared and presented well, it's just not enough for what you pay for it. $18 for a medium size chicken pot pie??? Plus drinks, tip, etc. Our group of 6 was pretty much shoe horned into a corner booth and when the server was near the table it was quite crowded

I've been several times and

If you want to go, go. It's worth it that much to say you went, unlike other places where you should avoid it like the plague. I find the food ho-hum, the atmosphere creepy and unsanitary (I think that's my own phobia), and don't care to wait that long.

I go to other places on my trips.

We love the 500's and consider it a must every trip.

Order the pot roast. You can thank me when you get back. It's my favorite meal on property and I don't even usually like pot roast.

My wife loves the s'mores. I like them too, but I'm partial to the Dad's Brownie Sundae. I have yet to try the peanut butter and jelly shake, but I hear good things.

I never understood the appeal of the 50's desserts

Take brownie, which in and of itself is just fine as a dessert, and then dump whatever sweet candy crap you have in the kitchen on top, and that somehow makes it better ?

Same for the S'mores. It's marshmallows and chocolate sauce on top of graham cracker that takes a ride through the salamander. "Real" s'mores are messy, overly sugary, and a not all that fired great thing to eat - but making them around a campfire is what makes them special. Eating a huge one off of a plate just doesn't do it for me.

Remember, the 50's were the era of prepared food in a can.

To each their own I guess

this is my favourite restaurant at wdw!!! it's immersive, interactive, fun and the food is good ol' fashioned home cooking. the portions are a decent size and the food is good quality. the waiting on staff never once snap out of character and always show you a good time.

i would suggest the meatloaf and mashed potato with a strawberry milkshake!!

you will not be dissappointed by this dining experience!!

What comes with the pot roast???

Pot roast comes with mashed potatoes, carrots and celery. Makes me hungry just thinking about it!

Love it here, our "Aunt Melody" was hilarious last month. Kept telling us stories about when we were little  My friend got in trouble for having his elbows on the table and she made him hold a sugar packet against the wall with his head while he said "I will not put my elbows on the table" three times. She signed the sugar packet for him to keep.

And here she is feeding him his veggies

It's not for everyone but it's one of the highlights of DHS for me.

then i've done the restaurant justice. our "mom" last time was sue, she was fantastic!! made me write lines for putting my elbows on the table, gave us a quiz (name 10 animated/partly animated disney films set in england), told my dad off and tucked his napkin in so he didn't spill his gravy and even came and sat at our table for a while telling us stories, ha!

thanks sue!!
