I'm trying to make my ADR for MGM and I'm not sure which restaurant to eat in? 50's Prime Time or the Sci-Fi :brick:? Any info? Als, I was wondering about the San Angel Inn?

My suggestion would be 50's prime time. I think the atmosphere is great, the waitresses and waiters generally are real funny, some really get into their roll and I think the food is really good (the couple times I've been there i've had the pot roast and it was great).

Sci Fi has neat atmosphere too, you can eat in the cars, but I think of it more as a burger joint. We've eaten their once and haven't had the urge to go back, where as we have with 50's.

Thats a hard one...They are both great in there own little ways. I would choose Sci-fi though. Its just really neat in there. I never been anywhere like it. But I love them both! I guess check out the reviews section of the home page on this website and go to the eatery part and click on both places. Which ever you choose, Im sure you will enjoy!

Sci-Fi! It is one of my favorites. Mostly b/c of the atmosphere. It's a nice way to cool down. It is more of burger place. Check out the menus on allears to see what is more to your liking.

 We have done both and I would choose Sci-Fi. some of the waitresses in the 50's get out of control. the atmosphere is neater and yes, its a burger place but very good ones. Either way, enjoy. check on the reviews from others.

It really depends on what you want as they are very different places. If you kind of want to be left alone when you eat then Sci-Fi would be your choice. If you want some or allot of interaction with the cast then 50's prime time will be the place for you. From a food only perspective 50's prime time is considerably better.

We go to the Sci Fi every visit. The 50s Primetime Cafe is okay, but my family would rather sit in the dining cars and watch the movie clips under the stars. We always get burgers and shakes and soak up the a/c.

Are these restaurants normally hard to get into in October? I am not sure if I want to make reservations because we hate having to be on a schedule like that, but then I don't want to have to wait hours for a table either.

All table service restaurants are somewhat hard to get into now, regardless of the time of year, and ADR's are highly recommended. For extremely popular places like 50's Prime Time, ADR's will be a necessity unless you just happen to get lucky.

I'd definately vote for 50's. I prefer the better food, and I like the homey feel. If I wanted to eat while watching tv, I can do that at home. But if Sci-fi is your preference, I'd say if your party is 3+, it's not such a good idea unless you like starig at the back of their heads.

Depends...
Lunch - Sci-Fi - Burger/shake.
Dinner - 50s - anything, it's all great.

Both are a must do for me, I love them.

we always go to sci-fi when we go, this last time we did both.

sci-fi for lunch and prime time for dinner. however, if i had to choose between the 2 i would pick sci-fi. its tradition and the burgers, fried and shakes are great.

The food at neither is anything to write home about. That being said, it's all about the atmosphere for me. I prefer Sci Fi, but it's close.

In December, we're doing 50's for lunch and Sci Fi for dinner.

What are the ages of your group?

When my kids were 7 and 5, Sci-Fi was terrific, sitting in cars and watching the movie. Now that they both drive, we didn't want to sit not facing each other so we choose Prime Time....we loved the Fried Chicken and Brownie Sundae, one of our best meals. My kids, who are now, 17 and 16, couldn't believe that they actually had to set the table and keep their elbows off the table. We loved Prime Time! But, I think younger families would love Sci-Fi!

Either choice is great!

Having been to the Sci-fi for the first time last week and to 50s on the last 2 vacations, I'd vote for 50's. After Sci-Fi, my wife and I both said it was weird not facing each other during the meal(we had front and middle rows) and also "sharing" the car with a couple in the back was also kinda wierd. We knew we had booked the car but after sitting down it just seemed a bit odd. They do have tables that face each other too, but we had booked the car. The menu at Sci-Fi seemed more geared to a lunch then dinner. At 50's we definately had a better time, more room at the table and a much better menu for dinner choices. Plus if your server is playing the role at 50's it is much more fun and enjoyable for all.
