A reduced Cars Land and Monster Inc. Coaster to me fixes up one issue for $500 million, but that park still has a lot of issues. There could another issue show up once reduced Cars Land and Monster Inc. Coaster is completed.

That issue is American Idol Experience. I am saying that because the show probably be done by the time a reduced Cars land is completed and a Monster Inc. Coaster for that matter if takes 2016/2017 for both of the attractions to open . American Idol waiting now is losing popularity and by 2016/2017, American Idol Experience could have the amount of shows in a day to be cut or be seasonal.

That area already has an issues with Sounds Dangerous building being abandoned for most of the year, but American Idol Experience having attendance issues to the point of cutting down shows or make it season would make that area stick out like a sore thumb.
What you're saying is like "I hope the $500 million they're putting into expanding DAK with Avatar also includes money to fix up the Yeti..."

Or "I hope the $500 million they're spending with the MK that includes FLE also includes fixing all the effects on BTMRR."

You know as much as I do that what needs to get done and what actually gets done are two entirely different things!

I could not disagree with this more. My 7 year old loves DHS - much more than the other parks. So much so that my wife and I are sick to death of it.

At DHS, you have:
- Toy Story Midway Mania
- Pixar meet and greets
- HISTK play area
- Star Tours
- Indy Stunt Show
- Lights Motor Action
- Disney Junior On Stage
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid
- Pirates of the Carribbean (new show)

(and that doesn't include Backlot Tour or American Idol)

Yes, there needs to be much, much more, but there's a lot more at DHS for kids than there is at EPCOT or AK.

I agree. And I think there is enough for adults, too. I think the park lacks family rides/experiences...

My least favorite park in all of Orlando. Completely mystified when people rank it above other parks.

But it is good that there is something for everyone.

Agreed. DHS is a clear #4 among the WDW parks. It's sad because it has a number of individual attractions that are excellent (I terribly enjoy both ToT and ST personally) but overall the park itself is boring. And has an annoying layout to boot.

DHS really needs a DCA-style makeover. Not just adding in a lot of rides -- which it definitely needs badly, but also just some "sparkle" to retheme and repurpose the park.

Not really. What I am really saying is not enough Cash is being spent on redoing DHS right now because it would cost them even more money down the road to fix DHS because American Idol Experience is a problem waiting to happen. If More money is spent, that problem wouldn't cost Disney as much down the road even if means spend 750 to 1 billion dollars on updating DHS right now instead 500 million.

Right now the 1.5 billion dollars posters is mentioning correct instead what is planned to be spent right with 500 million dollars. Right now Backlot Gone is fine, but Fantasmic needs to be updated, Great Movie need some help, BAH is stick out like a sore thumb, annd Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular needs to be gone or updated. Voyage of the little Mermaid and and Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage are very old for live stage shows and that means that new shows need to be happen also. There also is the need to improve the theme of the park as whole and that includes doing something with Pizza Planet. It you add American Experience to t

DHS is a mixing pot of ideas as isolated things each work really well. Star Tours is fantastic, well themed, immersive and has high capacity which is never bad, Sunset Boulevard has three wonderful attraction Beauty and the Beast although old still packs them in, Tower of Terror, arguably some of the best ride design on property, and Rocking Rollercoaster a well themed, and popular coaster. Muppets is muppets, but I could continue this list yet we all know the attractions at DHS. They work as individual elements but DHS lacks a center cohesive theme. Its dedicated to entertainment, but what does that mean? Movies? Yes. Tv, Yes, in a way. Music I suppose? Broadway and theatre productions, Yes. Movie studio productions? Kinda. Pixar movies kinda if one ride counts? Again these are all great individual elements but they lack a cohesiveness that the other 3 parks have. This is the problem of DHS

Without the working studio center DHS has lost its soul and is grasping at straws to find an identity. DHS needs an overhaul similar to DCA. The 500 million as I said earlier will help patch up capacity by adding popular one or two attractions , (for reference im thinking RSR and Monsters Inc Coaster). This will not help its image. Right now DHS is known as “the park with Tower of Terror or RRC or Star Tours, but not as its own strong park in its own right. I agree with posters who have said DHS needs a DCA reheal, but I think we need to take it in parts and make sure quality of attractions incrementally allow for the improvement of the park. Ie 500 million being spread to make a great RSR or Monster Inc, rather than being peppered thinly for non-issues such as a GMR rehab, when there are more pressing issues. I hope positive change is ahead for DHS, and 500 million will be a good size patch to cover the leak in a capsizing vessel. If we are being told its 500 million, the question is where is that best spent?

What's likely to happen is projects like an American Idol replacement will come out of much smaller budgets in the coming years.

I don't really see it. You could make a similar list for Epcot and DAK (I'll limit height restricted rides to 40" since you included ST)...

DAK:
-Safari
-Tiger River Run
-Triceratops Spin
-Dinosaur (perhaps not really kid friendly, but 40" and probably just as tolerable as Star Tours)
-Boneyard play area
-Tough to be a Bug
-Nemo show
-FOTLK
-Birds of Flight
-Planet Watch (petting zoo)
-Pangani Trail
-Mararajah Trail

Epcot:
-Spaceship Earth
-Nemo ride
-Imagination
-Captain Eo
-Soarin'
-Circle of Life
-Test Track
-Energy Adventure
-Imageworks/Innoventions/Advanced Training Lab
-Grand Fiesta Tour
-Maelstrom
-Kidcot
-Perry the Platapus adventure

Both parks of course have M&G's as well. I've tried to list things that most kids would potentially enjoy (leaving out the WS movies, for example)

I found DHS to be the least kid friendly park by far. Ironic since it has the most pre-school oriented stuff with Disney Jr (the show and character meal) but if it wasn't for those and TSMM, I would totally skip it with young kids. However, mine are a little younger than you mentioned (they were 4.5 and 2.5 when I was last in WDW with them) so that might skew things.

$500m is not gonna fix DHS, especially with just a half-a$$ed Cars Land and *maybe* Monsters, Inc. There's soooooo much work to do… the hat's gotta go, GMR needs a refresh, all of the studios crap from the 90's needs to be tossed, American Idol isn't gonna last much longer and needs a replacement, Theater of the Stars needs to be enclosed with a new show, Fantasmic needs upgrades or a flat-out replacement - I could go on and on. They really oughta just bulldoze the place ('cept for Tower, of course!) and start from scratch.

It's not going to be a FixIt project. It's probably going to be like Avatar - an expansion project. Might have Cars. Possibly Star Wars. Add some Monsters to that mix and that's what this is.

But if they dropped $500m and fixed the place and actually made it enjoyable? It could be awesome. It could be epic. It could go to 11.

But most likely they'll make some silly junior executive decision that is stuck in 1995 and is half-assed.

I was wondering... Could they be working on a Monsters ride in secret over at Pixar Place? Could they announce at the coming press event that the new ride will open (making up a number), say, in like six months? The building is already there...

Doubtful; word would have leaked out. I believe @Lee said that they scrapped that idea years ago.

So, the only logical thing I could think of is the Monsters ride. Unless they're planning to announce a new Monsters parade or stage show, but why hype up a press event for something so mundane?

If this is true, and they really are considering a GMR refresh along with this, why not just do all Disney movies, which now could include Pixar, LucasFilm, and maybe even some of the Marvel movies, depending on how they did them. Although, I think the Marvel characters and their images are restricted from appearing in WDW due to Uni's contract. Still though, even without Marvel, they would have a pretty impressive roster of films to pick from, without having to go out of house. Heck, they might could even get Cameron to agree to them use his films as well.

Hey now, according to that one guy you can get chased around by real live buzzard chicks. How many other parks offer that?

I don't know anything about the massive Pixar Place expansion with Monstropolis and Cars land, Star Wars land, Indiana Jones ride, ToT refurb and a the removal of the hat.

Nope, nothing at all.
What would they do with TOT?
