50 MAGICal Enhancements for the 50th ...

I am going with the model of DL in 2005 and even what DLP looks like now.

The WDW 50th will be the biggest media splash in P&R history. Now, will it all be sparkle and style over substance? Or will it be all new blow your socks off stuff? I think it will be a bit of both.
The PR releases should make fun drinking games. Take a shot for every time Disney mentions "magical," "memories," and "dreams."

Then again, you wouldn't want to die from alcohol poisoning.

Here's hoping for a new night parade that's closer to Dreamlights than Paint the Night.

For those who don't know, here's a video of TDL Dreamlights (which will soon have new floats).

Plus, here's the Christmas edition that cleverly weaves musical cues from favorites like "Jingle Bells" and "Hark the Herald."

The finale alone upstages everything in Paint the Night.

The trees in the hub are NEVER coming back those 20 ft shrubs in pots will never grow to be mature trees. And yet the square footage of astroturf continues to increase as disney works to sneak it in more places.

Yeah I do have an agenda showing people the decline of quality and service at WDW.
I never mentioned the hub but you're right. Those tree are not coming back but it has nothing to do with money. And the square footage of AstroTurf in the hub has not increased a single time since the hub project.

I don't mind you having an agenda. I do mind you blatantly lying.

But PTN is the "bestest parade" ever according to some. Look, it seems like a very good parade but I'd rather have something like Dreamlights as well.

Always great to see you pop in @tirian

And great to see you too @PhotoDave219! Thanks for popping in to say hello. Just felt like it had been a while but living out of state and probably tiring of the usual suspects, a break is always a good thing .... and I follow that Clickbait site as well ... they spread so many rumors around as actual news.

I never get tired of watching Dreamlights especially the finale.

When ever I heard anybody call PTN the best parade. I wish they gotten a chance to visit Tokyo to see Dreamlights especially during the Christmas season. I wish they gave the Dreamlights treatment to Spectromagic imagine how better the floats would look with newer things added.

Why Electric Umbrella? I shouldn't talk ... I had a meal there last fall ... but only because it was pouring rain and I got 20% with the new AP discount. Food was OK, but that is it. Although @WDWFigment has gushed about some burger there. I didn't have a burger. Some sandwich I can't recall ... meatball maybe.
It may sound odd but I started at 10am and had plans to eat at a few places but the parks were jam packed. I got to epcot at 4 and my body was legitimately shutting down. Dizzy, leg cramps, despite being fairly hydrated, and felt very ill. I was literally trying to motivate myself to get to sunshine seasons but those extra few steps seemed like a very difficult task in the shape I was in. And if I got there only to have lines and no seating like everywhere else I would have not been in a good place. I learned my limitations of activity without any food that day.

During the day I was turned away at skippers canteen, met with many lines at several counter service places and a few close resort restaurants weren't open for food when I was close. Poor planning on my end, I always assumed they were open all day. Who knows? Maybe they used to be open all day.

Test Track 2.0 feels like Epcot.
Test Track feels like classic EPCOT Center, but I think it's lacking a little substance. Put some exhibits in post-show about up-and-coming car technology, some concept cars, etc. I think it would be more engaging if the car designer actually let you create realistic cars instead of all those goofy designs.
...the original WDW Italian salad dressing (which is about 96% back at The Boathouse now)...
Please tell me more about this Italian salad dressing.

My issue with Test Track is that there are, essentially, no moving set pieces on the ride. Everything is static with projections on them which gives some appearance of movement but it really changes the feel. It is way cool looking but just has a bit of a flat feel.

Test Track 2.0 is definitely style over substance (anyone else notice this trend lately?). I think it's a bit lacking. I honestly preferred the first version overall.

Me too. As much as I loved World of Motion and wish it had remained, Test Track 1.0 was decent. The new one is absolutely terrible in my opinion. At least the old one felt like you were actually in the testing process for a car.

Absolutely true. But when your loyalty goes back to the early days of the Reagan Administration ... to when EPCOT Center was brand new ... to when WDW was an oasis of trees in the middle of nowhere ... to when the company was known as Walt Disney Productions ... to when there were only three Disney parks IN THE WORLD ... to when the current WDW President was front-line cast (I think he was a lead) ... well, I don't care that some crazy from Ohio who is living off the government or an ex-spouse and moved to Davenport in 2004 and bought an AP and lives at WDW thinks that their loyalty is even in the same stratosphere as mine and all Charters. Those are the people who frankly need to be slapped on the wrist (or upside the head) and told 'NO!!!' on a regular basis.

I think Ace Rothstein says it best. "The town will never be the same. After the Tangiers, the big corporations took it all over. Today it looks like Disneyland. And while the kids play cardboard pirates, Mommy and Daddy drop the house payments and Junior's college money on the poker slots. In the old days, dealers knew your name, what you drank, what you played. Today, it's like checkin' into an airport. And if you order room service, you're lucky if you get it by Thursday. Today, it's all gone. You get a whale show up with four million in a suitcase, and some twenty-five-year-old hotel school kid is gonna want his Social Security Number. After the Teamsters got knocked out of the box, the corporations tore down practically every one of the old casinos. And where did the money come from to rebuild the pyramids? Junk bonds. But in the end, I wound up right back where I started. I could still pick winners, and I could still make money for all kinds of people back home. And why mess up a good thing? And that's that."

I still prefer the new one, even if it is somewhat lacking in substance I still think there's more substance there than in the original. The current one is at least forward looking.

agree, although the name TronTrack might serve it better at this point.

Visually I like certain aspects of the new ride. I personally don't care about designing a car but that's me, I know it's a fun aspect for some.

I guess you could say there are flaws with the aesthetic look of the hub at Magic Kingdom. To either find shade, or just a beautiful place to be amounst-it's hard. I mean, yeah, you got the castle. But it's either always crowded or it's blocked off so you can't even get close to it to enjoy a elegant environment. I wouldn't say how it looks now isn't all bad however. With the addition of the expanded hub, it makes navigating around that area much more easier as opposed to being neck and neck with brazilian tour groups. (which often it still happens)

I remember 2003, before wishes. Holy crap, it was amazing. These HUGE shade trees with benches under all of them.
