Trip Report 5 Adults vs 1 ten month old. Guess who won?!

Hi All!
Back from another stay at WDW and it was different for sure!
We had a new traveler with us and definitely did Disney differently for that reason and a few others.

I would like to give you guys a heads up before you read any further.
If you have read my trip report from last year you may be aware that my husband (Gary) is being treated for cancer and there are some references in here to how he is doing, because that changed a lot of how we toured this year.
If you are uncomfortable following along because not everything is pixie dust in this report, I will not in any way be offended if you click away. (I much prefer a sexy vampire book myself to a story that has moments of sadness)!
Luckily there were some great family/baby/children moments that brought us joy and new memories were made!

So with warning given and to those who are going to hang around, let's begin!

Our group consisted of myself, Cindy, my husband Gary, my son Seth, my daughter Aleisha our son-in-law Julio and our now 10 month old granddaughter Una. (And PS, she is a crazy girl)!!
We stayed at Bay Lake Oct. 21-27th.

Cast and crew (and one of my favorite pics of the whole trip).

To arrive at Disney everyone was coming from different places at different times. Gary and I headed down from Pittsburgh with an afternoon flight. We left around 2:15 pm and got in close to 4:40 pm-ish.
Us headed to the air side on our version of the monorail.

We had time to eat at Friday's (I think it was). Gary had some potato skins that he liked and I had a kids mac and cheese and french fries that I thought tasted pretty good.

In the meantime my little sleepy head was headed to Orlando from Sacramento with her mom. They started out at 6 am-ish, west coast time.

She did seem to perk up to her usual nosy self once they were on board!
IMG_2872.JPG

One thing you will notice this trip is a disproportionate amount of baby pictures! 🤣

Seth headed down from Georgia, deciding to drive.

As crazy as it sounds, our 2 flights landed within 6 minutes of each other and we were able to meet Una and Aleisha as they got off of the monorail thing!
So excited to see this Mickey 50th wrap on one of the cars.

And Grandpap and Una's airport meet up!!

Julio wouldn't be arriving till the wee hours of Saturday am so we don't have any travel day pics of him.
Next up, is grabbing 800lbs of luggage and off to the Magic Bus!

Finally all caught up. I enjoyed your trip report. But I'm sorry to hear the news about Gary and I have my fingers crossed for better news with the next scan. And I'm so glad that the drs were able to find out why he wasn't eating and that the meds they added have helped his appetite.

Thank you and happy birthday to all of you!
I hope you do eventually get to do all of your celebrations.
Gary and I are boostered (is that even a word)?! 🤣
I'm going to take a leaf out of @Darstarr 's book and say I'll allow it! And I'm glad to hear you both had your boosters.

We'll probably just get together when everything is opened again and everyone is healthy and we'll go out to dinner to celebrate everything at once. Everything (with the exception of grocery and drug stores) has to be closed by 5pm here right now, so restaurants aren't open anyway. We ordered in at home for my birthday so at least I didn't have to cook that night. But my FIL and BIL both still have covid symptoms even though it's been a couple of weeks, so we still can't get together. They are both still exhausted, too, so I don't think they are up for a get together, even if it were allowed.

Thanks for following along and we're also hoping for a little good news.
His appetite has really improved with the meds and he has put a few pounds back on.

I hope you all get to have a nice celebration and definitely glad you didn't have to cook your own birthday dinner!
Thank you so much for sharing your adventure...because that's what vacation is when travelling with a toddler!

Sending good thoughts and best wishes to you and Gary for some good news in the New Year.

Hi all, just a quick update. We're back from Sacramento and had a wonderful stay!
We got to ride on a horse drawn wagon to see fabulous Christmas lights.
Had sooooo much fun with Una and got to celebrate her first birthday with a "hungry caterpillar" theme!
(Crazy girl is walking now)!!!
We got to stay in their new house, and Gary was feeling well enough to help Aleisha with some repairs.
The kids are here in Pittsburgh now. Aleisha and Una flew home with us, Seth drove up from Savannah and Julio will be flying in on the red eye tomorrow.
Then we will be having a traditional Christmas here at home!

All of the photos are fabulous, but this one is priceless! The dog made me smile as much as the laughter! Merry Christmas!
I agree totally! It is one of my favorites.
And that dog is Hera and she is quite the beast!
I agree - and Una looks so pleased with herself in this photo.
She does, doesn't she?! She knows how to make Grandpap laugh.

I was cleaning some stuff out the other day and ran across a Disneyland Paris 25th anniversary map from our trip in 2017. It's in Dutch, but I can send it to you if you'd like it. I found an extra copy, so I'll still have one if I send you this one. Just PM me your address if you want me to mail it to you.

Catching up on your great report.

One time I lost my entire family inside World of Disney so I could sympathize with you when you were herding cats in Disney Springs.

Wonderful that you made so many great memories with your family!

Loved the 2 Avatar shirts for Gary!

Loved the photos and you got some really good photopass shots!

Praying for Gary's health and for your entire family. I can relate to what you are going through in several ways and know it's not easy.

Thanks for the report and the updates!

Finally all caught up! First off, I am sending all my love to you and Gary! I am hoping for the best possible outcome!

Loved the report. It was so fun seeing Una's reactions to things! I don't have kids, so it's nice seeing others share their firsts! I feel for you dealing with Guest Relations about the party ticket. I think it was somewhat unreasonable to not just give a refund, and the play by play of your activities earlier in the day just should not have happened.

Glad you guys had a family Christmas at home, that sounds wonderful! Loved all of your cute ornaments too! I have the boxed set you bought and they are a highlight every year on our tree!

And isn't it incredible even with phones glued to all of us, that people still can get misplaced?!
Thanks for the prayers and I am sorry you have had to go through similar issues.
I hope you and yours had a good holiday.

Thank you for reading and your kind thoughts regarding Gary.
And Una was definitely a hoot! And yes it was an annoying interaction, but it is very nice to admit that the majority of CM's are the best!

And since you brought up Christmas, I apologize as I am using your post as a sneaky opportunity for me to show off my Mickey tree and a few other pics of our crazy girls Christmas. 🤣

Our Christmas morning pic that Una was not having because she wanted what was in the photo after that!
And I promise no more Christmas photos after this!

Sorry, I lied. One more. Lots of money spent on toys and this was her favorite.

Love the silver tinsel. That takes me back to my parents trees when we were kids. Crazy girl is a doll. Loved her in the box. Loved the family shot as well. She sure is grandpa's girl.
The tinsel is old fashioned but I love how it shines, and if there is a little breeze it sways!
And she is grandpap's for sure. If my daughter face times Una will try to kiss the phone when he gets on!
