40th Anniversary Rumor

This seems really unlikely. The parks people seem to have a different long-term revitalization plan going on, and simply prepping for the clelbration would seem to throw a lot of refurbs and maintenance that has been rumored around into disarray.

I remember someone posting something about a new Typhoon Lagoon attraction sometime ago where it was supposed to be something like those newer types of water attractions that feature people riding on boogie boards as they surf a perfect, constant wave. They are in a few other places like Schlitterbaun and some cruise lines have it.

I was hoping that would be true since it looks cool, but haven't heard of it since. Maybe they are plainning on it if the rumor is true.
Awesome! Hersheypark just got one of those and I rode it this past summer---it was completly awesome! Growing up at the Jersey shore I did a lot of boogie boarding in my day, but one perfect 5 minute run is awesome. The lines tend to get long though because only one person per lane can ride.

A FlowRider almost seems like a waste when Typhoon Lagoon already has real surfable waves in the wave pool, but I guess you can't have people surfing over the public.

As for Epcot, personally I think the World Showcase could use a major attraction. They have all these little themed areas with minor attractions...it would be amazing if there were larger attractions to go with the different countries. I mean, Soarin could have been put in the American pavillion with its current theme, but that might limit it for future ride films. Of course there is Wonders of Life which is obviously going to be gutted and replaced at some point, but Future World has a lot going on already compared to the World Showcase.

Right...that's why I said "what about Soarin"? That is a new E-Ticket that came after Mission Space.

I totally forgot about Soarin'. I think I have mental block since it wasn't originally going to be in Epcot and is tacked onto The Land. I'm an idiot.

If they do nothing other than redo WoL and have it open for the 40th anniversay, I'll be happy.

I don't think most of us would argue against MK, DHS and AK getting a new e-ticket within the next 5 years or so. But Epcot? Besides the expansion sites in the WS ,the only area open for expansion in Wonders of Life, no?

I saw a map posted on a thread here not too long ago that highlighted the many Epcot expansion areas. Suffice to say, there seemed to be plenty of room.

That said, I hope the next big thing at Epcot is in World Showcase, to balance things out a little. World Showcase hasn't gotten anything completely new since Norway. Everything else has just been updates.

WS could always get a new country, and we've seen many suggestions of those. Absent that, thye could put the Matterhorn in Italy (the actual Matterhorn mountain is on the Swiss/Italian border), build the ride that was planned for Germany, or do a lot of other things. American Adventure could use a new scene or two as well (not just a film update), but that wouldn't qualify as anything close to an E-ticket.

"New" is subjective...a revamped Space Mountain could be marketed as "new", just as Soarin' was "new" tp WDW, and sold as such even though its a clone from DCA. WDW is still selling Everest and Laugh Floor as "new". Don't take "new" literally.

This just in. To celebrate their 40th anniversary WDW will purchase both Universal Studios and Sea World. Sea World will be renamed Nemo's Sea World and Universal will be bulldozed and become a large parking lot.

As for what Epcot may get, Screamscape reports they hear rumors of Test Track becoming an actual "Testing" facility for a bit.

They might test many of the upgrades and effects that are going to go into the new Radiator Springs Racers ride in Cars Land at DCA.

Maybe, if successful, these new upgrades will appear in Epcot first.

They say it might happen in a few years. I'm thinking that might correspond with the 40th Anniversary, depending on when they do it.

What???

An actual testing facility? How would this be done? What would it even entail?

To make this upgrade possible would really be a stretch with so much else going on in the area. Unless there is some real inside info at work here, dismiss that one right away.

If it is true, the rumor says it's possible that we'd see Test Track down for a lengthy rehab while they test out any or all of the new upgrades/effects.

I heard that the frequent breakdowns aren't good for Disney and GM's reputation, so who knows what could happen? But I would hate to see Cars move in.

I seriously doubt Cars will be moving into Test Track. It doesn't fit in with the theme.

Besides, hardly any of the cars are from GM (except for a couple, like the Chevy Impala). So I doubt GM would want to go along with these ideas.

I would assume that one of the upgrades would greatly decrease the number of breakdowns and make the ride more reliable.

I doubt they'll add any new attractions to any of the parks within the next year or two, but it's safe to assume there'll be new attractions between 3-7 years at each of the parks.

MK is due for something new (or a major refurb), Epcot isn't in dire need of anything new, but it'd be great if it had something (besides, SSE is opening soon), AK has wonders of space for rides, and MGM..well, you just /know/ it's going to get something soon after Toy Story Mania.

So, there is hope.

It would not surprise me if each park gets a major attraction for the 40th. The Studios should be on the tail end of the update it will be getting. It has been talked about on this and other Disney boards of something new coming to WS, on top of the planned overhaul of Imagination and eventually they are going to have to do something about UOE. DAK should have something major opening by then. MK has a major attraction in the pipeline. It would make sense to have these things opening for the 40th so they could use them as part of the marketing push. I am happy they are planning to celebrate the 40th since the ignored the last 2 major anniversaries.

I hope this is ture I know there's and non-movie E-ticket coming to MK I can feel it. And I think BB needs a new attaction than TL. They should reopen WOL at Epcot with new ride or turn it into something else.
