Thanks!

Thanks guys..and thank u Ed...your drawing really helped me. Unfortunantly I couldn't continue modeling this week due to the large amount of work I have to do for my classes in university this week..but on weekend I intend to finish it...Hopefully on monday the model will be shown here.:animwink:
Oh..Now Inc. here is what u asked me...I am sure I could have done this model in an easier way...but u must remember I am still learning 3D Max ( I am a beginer). Any tip on how make it in a faster way, please tell me.

Thats actually not bad....I was just a bit "concerned" because with 3DSMax...there comes a point (often too) where you reach a high poly count..and the program tends to crash without warning. You seem to be maintaining a managable mesh tho so as of yet this shouldnt be a problem..just be sure to save often...

...I was also curious to see how the polys looked so I can offer help with texturing..the UVs on the model seem to be even so there shouldnt be any problems when you decide to add the bricks.

just out of curiosity, what does uv mean?

Thought you were a 3d animator??

hehe....UV is..basically..coordinates used for texture mapping...you can use planer..cylindrical...sphereical...box..and a few others depending on the program to calculate how a texture is "wrapped" or "projected" on a model...thoseare UV coordinates ;)

Explain to me how you could possibly be a 3d animator and not know what UV mapping is? It is the same in EVERY program..and is BASIC..and REQUIRED to do ANYTHING in 3d. I am begining to think you know nothing at all about 3D and just say "I'm a 3D animator" to get attention.

I'm looking forward to seeing it as well. For you having just recently started in Max, I was bigtime impressed with the first render. Well, actually, I was impressed anyway. he he;)

Hope I'm still alive when you finish the whole park!:D

3D animatior in the 10th grade? If you're going to lie at least tweak your profile to match.

On an other note...

Sweet work guys. I really wish I had some of these programs. Seeing what you guys can do with the lighting ect. The only set back for me is the technical part and actually knowing how to use the programs to their fullest. If I could just get past that lol. :D

What are you talking about? I was a prodigy in 3d animation when I was 9. Then I fell on my head and now I'm dumb as a brick.

Seriously, I would love to start working on projects like this, but I don't think I'd have the patience to do anything like this.

Also, how similar is building models compared to designing projects with something like Auto-CAD? I've had a little bit of experience with that and was wondering how similar the 2 are.

Hey my high school offered classes in AUTO CAD and 3D animation. So I can believe it.

Alright, I've had enough of this, so here goes:

Taking a class in either of those doesn't make you a 3D Animator. It takes A LOT of time to learn these programs, not just classroom time. In fact to learn them well, most of your time is wisely spent OUTSIDE of a classroom, reading books and doing tutorials. It's a little insulting to those of us that have spent the time learning these programs, and are still learning more about them to this day. I know of only a couple of people on these forums that have the EXTENSIVE knowledge needed to actually be a decent 3D animator. There may be more, but I can guarantee that these people that know it are not 15 and 16 year olds.

I've personally been learning Maya for about 2 years now, the most complicated 3D program out there, and I'd be willing to bet I've learned less than 3/4 of what that program can actually do.

So, in closing, don't browse around these forums talking about how you're a 3D animator, or support those who say they are at the age of 15 or 16. They are lying, simple as that.

Try to tell that to my friend james. He has taken what he learned in high school about 3D animation and his programing skills from college and has created a game with the best 3D animation I have ever seen.

Um, I WILL tell that to your friend James. You said right there that your friend James has programming knowledge and went to college. He doesn't fall under those I was talking about, now does he?

READ THE WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU TYPE A REPLY.

I don't consider someone a '3D animator' or anything else until they've got the diploma in their hands that says so or if they've got a job doing it. Plain and simple as that.

I'm 18 and have been drawing since I could hold a pencil. As good as I am ;) I don't consider my self an artist. Now an asspiring (spelling?) artist would be more apropriate.

Bottom line here is that it's extremely lame and down right pathetic to be running around a forum full of for the most part total strangers to you and lying to them. To top it off it's a bad lie...if you're going to lie do a litttle research and know what you're talking about. ;)

Yes he took programming in college not 3D animation. He took that in high school.

AND I DO READ THE WHOLE THING.

I'll start by suggesting you watch your tongue. IF you indeed read the whole thing, you don't comprehend all that well.

NOTHING in my post suggested that a person who took 3D in HS and THEN went to college and learned programming couldn't be in the 3D field. My post DID say that if a kid takes 3D in HS and then calls himself an animator is BS. There is no way a HS kid can learn 3D from 1 or 2 classes alone.

Thank you, in advance, for reading AND UNDERSTANDING the whole post, if you made it this far.;)

I started doing 3d animation back when i was 11...when it was ALL Programming..and ALL FREE (using POVRay..a program that still exists..and is still free today)..

.....its not IMPOSSIBLE for someone in highschool level to be an animator..its just very unlikley ;) There are some who get "the bug" (term i use for being naturally good at 3d) at young ages...that # is very small..and even that..they are using FREE tools...not 3DSMax (since the average high schooler cant afford that...no matter what they say)...

MSU you are right, I have no clue about 3D animation because I neve took a class on it or even tried it. I must say for those who can do it, great, they look really good. I never said I was good at it.
