3D model of WDW Railstation

I'm glad I can help. I did the map myself (I've done all the parks, constantly putting in more detail, as you can guess I have better plans I just wanted to show off.) I just got back from WDW a few weeks ago and took some photos around the station because I knew I was doing that drawing, so I have some odd views, I specificly wanted to see how the canopy in front attatched to the main building (it doesn't, I can explain it to you or do a drawing or something if you want). I'll post 3 here to get you started. There's a TON of good photos of the train station at disneyfans.com (the curved stair and stuff). Check it out if you haven't already and feel free to email me with any questions (or you could post them here)

Thanks Ed.

Man, these pictures really helped me a lot. I will start drawing right now. I wish I could go to MK, like u did, to take some pictures...but I live in Rio de Janeiro and international traveels are very exxpensive. Anyway...thanks for the tip about the site..I haven't seen it yet. I will check it out.
Thanks again

A little more.

Thanks tou Ed, I could improve my drawing a little more. Here it is. I still couldn't find a picture that shows me the part that is missing on my drawing. If anyone has it, please send me.

Looks good. The bays in the middle that you haven't drawn are just like the one you've drawn at the end, only the openings go all the way down to the ground (they're french doors) I'm pretty sure it's 5 bays of french doors on the track side. On the town square side the center bay is a bump out with a ticket window (center the bays under the dormers you've already drawn). The high tower with the clock and the curved roof is only on the track side on the other side its a large dormer with a pair of windows (I'll have to look around a bit for that detail)

Have you started turning it into 3D yet or is it just 2D? I don't know 3D very well which is why most of my drawing are only 2D. I forget does autocad have 3D symbols? it must.

It must be nice to be able to sit around all day and draw disney stuff

Gotta go work

Hey Now, have you ever used Catia? I have it here at work and was thinking of dabbling in it a little...I've taken a beginner course in it and was just wondering how it compares to the rest of the programs you have used.

I've never heard of that program. I'm using Vectorworks which is a CAD program for architectural drafting. It has 3D capibilities (I did a space mountian) but I'm not that skilled at using them (it's architectural so it's easy to make rectalinear boxes but a pain to do a banked rollercoaster track and I'm not even going to try a mountian) It also doesn't do a lot with rendering (no textures, reflections, stuff like that). I have form Z at home and know I could do a lot with that, but I don't know the software at all, and I don't want to import all my park maps into that and trace them over. (I'm pretty sure if I export and import I'll end up with a 2d drawing)

I must say..thast a new one to me...never heard of it. Its not suprising tho since there are about 7 or 8 "new" programs coming out each year..not so easy to keep track of em all or what they do unless they do something exceptional...

Hey Ed and Now Inc. Just finished the side facade of the Rail Station. Do u guys think that is ok? Would u guys correct or modify anything? If there is anything wrong, let me know lease. I am starting today to make the floor plant so I can begin to model it (finally). As soon as I finish I show u.
Have a nice day u all.

Question.

Hey Now Inc. I would like to ask u something. Generally I extrude my drawing in Cad and then I import it on 3D Max to add light efects and materials. I do it because I don't know how to bring my floor plant from CAD to 3D without loosing the scale. But Adding material to a CAD model on #D Max is dificult sometimes. Is there an easy way to do it? Please help me! :veryconfu

Generally....going from program to program is not an easy process...so sadly..im not gunna be of much help on this one. I can h owever tell you that trees are HIGH polygons....so you may want to fake it using the cross/texture method (I'll get into that in a later post)

Looks great!!!

Your rendering looks sooooo cool. I'm envious, :) I haven't worked on my drawing in the past few days (working on other projects) but I put together this plan to give you a hand. I took the little key plan in the corner of the elevation I had, traced it into Vectorworks, streached it to the proper length and added dimensions. I hope it's helpful, let me know if you need more info
