We are taking my 3 1/2 year old for the first time to Disney in late April, early May! Which ride do you suggest for her very first ride ever at Disney World?? We are arriving at 9:30 at MCO and are hoping to be at the parks by noon. Not sure how well she will handle lines. She is VERY adventurous, and already asks to watch the "ghost ride" (Haunted Mansion and PoTC) videos on youtube all the time!

forgot to mention that the Magic Kingdom will DEFIENTLY be the first park! (we are gonna hit Epcot after the MK this night for dinner and RoE!)

My vote is for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! It's something to easily turn a child onto, and doesn't really have anything in the ride other than fun. :D

With them being 3 I would say that Peter Pan or Winnie the Pooh. If they are okay with darkness, Peter Pan offers interesting visual cues and Pooh is a littel harder to follow but also a good choice. But anything will be I'm sure one of their best experiences in their lifetime. Congratulations on their first trip. :ROFLOL:

Ok! So I just brought my Nephew for his first time to WDW last year back in May, and his first must do was "Dumbo!" he says (he watched the planning video) BTW he's 4. End of story, for some reason Dumbo is like some right of passage for children on their first trip to the World. So done and done, Dumbo "IS" a must do for all children. However comma, riding Cinderellas Golden Carousel is also a Big favorite for the kiddies so I guess it's a toss up.

I picked it's a Small World b/c there is nothing at all that would frighten a child on that ride.

Most children do fine with most rides... but every child is different and I will tell you about my experience...
I know you say your child is adventurous and watches the rides on Youtube but the real thing is a whole other story for a child! My child also watched a lot of rides on Youtube but he was scared of most rides during his trip when he was just over 3 1/2 (but loved characters). We were ok and didn't force him on anything but even rides that are considered tame he was still afraid of them. For example... Pooh does have some dark spots, the ride starts bouncing (my son thought something was wrong with the ride), etc. Even Dumbo can frighten a child who is afraid of heights! You don't know what will concern a child... and some children are perfectly fine with all of it! Depends on the child! And for your sake I hope your child likes it all! And even though our son didn't like a ride he loved WDW. But our son is now 5 and he was a different child on our last trip... he even likes some rides now!
Don't set your expectations to high and if your child does indeed enjoy rides and shows... then lucky you!

Good luck! Take it slow, give "Disney" in small doses, and just remember to have fun! Some of my best memories are with my two children in WDW!

Dumbo! Try to do it first thing because the lines get very long. Pooh is great too because the characters are big and easily recognizable. Peter Pan is really fun, but I find that both my kids, 6 & 2 when we went last, don't see a lot of what's in Pan, plus the dark factor. If she's really into "thrill" rides the Barnstormer in Toon Town is great for kids. My son has loved it sine he was 2 (he's tall) but my daughter did not like it, too fast.

Have a great time!

I'd say Dumbo but based on the time of day you'll be arriving at the park - I fear you'll be in line forever. I'd start with Pooh then work your way through Fantasyland towards Dumbo. If your child loves the characters, I'd go to Mickey's Philharmagic as well.

#1 son's first MK ride at 8 months was Pooh
#2 son's first MK ride at 17 months was POTC
My first MK ride at 10 was Jungle Cruise
DH first MK ride at 24 was Haunted Mansion

And thats what Im worried about!!! With us not getting there til noon or later, do we try to wait in the possibly long line for Dumbo? or do we do another first, and hit Dumbo on a later day when we are at the park for opening??

I say Peter Pan all the way! That has always been my favorite ride since the first time we went. I think I've always loved it so much because it's the only ride (I think) where you are "flying" high above neverland!

When my son was 8 weeks we took him on Dumbo first. When my daughter was 10 weeks we took her on Pooh first. Both were followed later that day by Pirates, HM, teacups, and Peter Pan. Yes we star them young:lol:

Gotta go with Dumbo... My son's first ride. We arrived at GF in the evening, and went straight to MK after checking in. After waiting to get on Dumbo, we were loaded onto a yellow elephant, and just after taking off Wishes began. Couldn't ask for a better start to a trip!!!
