3 months pregnant at the world!!

I am going to be in Disney World in 31 days!!! originally we were going to be going in late April Early May, but i found out a week ago that I am pregnant with our second child!!!! As excited as I was about being pregnant again, I was bummed because I knew that we would need to save money, and would have to shorten our trip or cancel it all together. I was also worried about being 6 months pregnant and dealing with the Florida heat. So what we decided was to shorten the trip from 10 nights to 7 nights, and go in march! I quickly emailed Jessica at KK and asked her to make the reservations for March 9-16th instead of what we were planning, and I made new dining reservations. Now we are all set our plane tickets are bought, our trip is paid for, and all we have to do now is wait! of course this trip is now going to be extremely different for me, I have had some nausea pretty much all day every day and I am extremely tired. We already do afternoon breaks since we have our 4 year old with us who will also need a break, and I know I wont be able to do as much as I usually do and I am fully prepared for it. I am curious to hear from anyone who has been to the World as early in a pregnancy as I will be. Most things I have read about being at the World while pregnant refer to woman who are 6+ months along. Im curious if some of the rides that they suggest pregnant woman hold off on would still be as bad considering I will only have a baby the size of a lime in me. Obviously I will be talking to my doctor, but rides such as Splash mountain, or Kilimanjaro Safari i wouldnt think would be very bad?!
Again, if any of you have been early in your pregnancy I would love to hear how your trips went! also, any tips for me are welcome and appreciated!!

I do think that Splash Mountain says not to ride if you're pregnant...
Right, It does say that, but I am curious if any other woman out there have been on it while pregnant, or if any feel strongly one way or the other on if it really would be that horrible, I've bene on it so many times, and the only thing i could think that would be "harmful" in any way may be the drop, but since I am only going to be 3 months along Im not seeing how it would really affect my pregnancy at that point... that was more of the question I guess... and like I said, I will be talking to my doctor as well, i was just hoping maybe some of the moms on here had some experience and could comment on it for me!!

of course this trip is now going to be extremely different for me, I have had some nausea pretty much all day every day and I am extremely tired.

I took a trip at 3 months pregnant once. I have never met anyone who gets sicker during pregnancy than I do. I literally do not keep ANYTHING down throughout the first trimester and have to rely on IVs at the emergency room to stay alive. So being completely INSANE, when my grandparents asked me if I'd like to go to Disney for a few nights with them (my husband was deployed) I said "SURE!!" despite not being able to physically get off my bathroom floor. It was the strangest thing, because as soon as I got in my car and started driving to Florida the morning sickness just vanished altogether. I spent the whole time at Disney feeling great, and being able to eat food for the first time in months. Of course, on the final morning of the trip, I woke up and the morning sickness was back in full swing. I spent that morning with my head in the toilet at the All Star Music food court. :dazzle: I then had to drive all the way back to North Carolina sick as a dog, and ended up right back in the hospital when I got home. :hammer: I did appreciate those few days of "magic" relief though and I'm glad I went.

I rode the thrill rides with my own discretion. Splash Mountain is very smooth and I rode it and was fine doing so. Mission Space I decided was not a great idea so I skipped it. Kilimanjaro Safaris is probably the worst one you could do while pregnant. Just use your common sense.

I would be just as concerned in early pregnancy as I would be in later pregnancy since the risk of miscarriage is higher in the first trimester.
Just because other pregnant women have done something and not had problems does not mean it is safe. I would never go on a ride while pregnant that has a health warning saying NOT to go on it while pregnant. Obviously some women do, and so all I can say to that is to each their own.

There are SO many things to do at WDW....skipping a few rides that have a health warning for pregnant women does not really seem like a big deal to me. My trip to WDW would not be any less special or fun if I skipped a few minutes on certain rides. I would not feel right taking any kind of risk with my unborn child.

First off Congratulations!!! I was about 2 and 1/2 months pregnant the first time I ever went to Disney World, and even though I have to avoid the BIG attractions, I had such an awesome time. I rode the Safari and Space mountain when I was preggers, but avoided everything else.

I think you are still going to have a GREAT time! Just think next visit, you'll have a new wee one in tow!!! Woo Hoo! :sohappy:

I did it at 5 and half months in June. It was rough at times but it forced DH and me to experience WDW in a different way. When we go with our little one, it'll be another different experience. Anyway, going while pregnant is not boring. Just take lots of time to rest, eat well, wear very comfortable shoes and clothes, and take warnings seriously. If it says expectant mothers shouldn't ride, DON'T!!!!!!

Of course, it's at the mother's discretion and it's always better safe than sorry, but the risk of "jarring" from rides causing a miscarriage is almost nonexistent in the first trimester. The danger would come later in the pregnancy...the jarring possibly causing a placental abruption.

During my first pregnancywe went to Six Flags and rode every ride, just had a great time, found out I was 9 weeks pregnant two days after my trip...only went to the doctor because nagging flu like symptoms would not go away and my best friend said "sounds like you are pregnant"!:ROFLOL: During my second pregnancy we went to a theme park and I had a great time eating my way from one corner to the other but no rides for me, just shows, we were expecting twins and I did not want to take any chances. Congratulations!!!

Congratulations! :sohappy:

We went to DL when I was just beginning my 2nd trimester, so not too much further along than you will be. My OB said not to worry too much at that stage. But I felt it was not worth the risk and avoided any ride with a warning on it. There was still plenty for me to do and I didn't feel as if I was missing out on anything.

Have a great trip!

Thank you all for the congrats! We really are very excited to be expanding our family! I guess I will just have to go with the flow, and if I feel like something will be too much I will skip it. I will be talking to my doctor this week as well, and will definitely take into account what she has to say as well!

I went beginning of my second trimester. We had a great time. Wear comfy clothes and shoes, drink lots of water and take naps if you are tired. Don't ride the rides they warn you not to. It wouldn't be worth it if something happened.

Have fun!

My wife and I went when we were 4 months pregnant. It was our "babymoon" trip. It was honestly the best trip we ever took to WDW because we didn't run from ride to ride mainly because the big E-ticket rides are pretty much off limits.

We took our time and did a bunch of stuff that we normally don't do or things we always say we're going to do but never make it around to doing them (Swiss Family Treehouse, Country Bear Jamboree, etc...). You should make a list of things you've never done, and take this trip to do WDW at a slower pace, take some time to enjoy the park and explore new things.

Here is a short list of the rides that Disney suggests you don't ride while expecting:

Magic Kingdom: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Goofy's Barnstormer, Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Indy Speedway
Epcot: Body Wars, Test Track, Maelstrom
Hollywood Studios: Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Star Tours
Animal Kingdom: Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest

Have fun!!!

Congrats!

My wife was about 3 months pregnant on our last trip. Sorry to say, she was sick and miserable the entire time. But so far it doesn't sound like that will be a problem for you.

My $.02 on rides. Personally, I wouldn't recommend chancing it. Odds are in your favor with something like Splash Mountain. But just say that something did happen. Even if it wasn't caused by the ride itself, you'd always wonder.

My advice, Splash Mountain will still be there after your child is born. For now, enjoy the other things Disney has to offer. One day, your whole family can enjoy Splash Mountain together.

Whatever you decide, have a great trip and stay safe!

You should definitely talk with your doctor. I recently had a similar discussion with mine and she told me that for the first 12 weeks, a pregnant woman is not all that different from a non-pregnant woman. She told me that riding rides during the first 12 weeks is not a problem at all.

I went 7 months pregnant....9 months to next trip to WDW!!

I went when I was 7 months pregnant with my second child. I was having some contractions before I went but just like the lady who said her morning sickness went away my contractions stopped while I was there. I think you are so preoccupied there and relaxed you just feel good. I had a great time and got to ride all the rides but the rollercosters. I cant go with out riding Pirates!! I have such a crush on Jack. Everyone is also very wonderful to be considerate of the pregnant ladies there, cast members as well as guests. The only hard thing is not being able to pick up your other child. My older child was 4 at the time so my husband had to do a lot of the entertaining in line.

Also the Dumbo, Magic Carpets, and Tea pot rides are not to great for the morning sickness.

Congrats and have a great time!

I don't understand that. I mean I understand way pregnant women aren't supposed to go on a ride like Dinosaur or Kilamanjaro Safaris...but Splash Mountain? The airplane they take descends and lands much much faster and harder. The only thing I can think of is that the logs often bump into each other.
