Nice one DMC-12, thanks for that link. I think Perceprual Robotics were the guys who did the CAMS at USF.

They really are fine CAMS, we were going to use them on one of our projects in the UK, but it fell through. :(

I would really like to see the CAMS back in place, and at USF as well. I had great fun watching the people walk around Citywalk when they used to be there.

Think how great it would be if the hid on at the top of the castle, you could watch the entire park from there.

well..not only did I love the cams at WDW...I liked the ones at Universal as well... It was cool to watch them on a light, slow late night (back when I was working nights)when i was bored out of my mind. It was cool to see the hulk, and then pan over to Jurassic park, the IOA cam at night was the best........ARGH!!!!.... Bring Back the cams! :)

I have a photo of the simple web camera from Disney's MGM. just in case you want more technical reference comparing 'quality'

Its kinda hard to tell.....but.....that looks like a basic Closed Circuit (fixed) security cam...but I could be wrong...

Thanks:)

Oh this is hilarious to me because I did not realize they were shut off and my husband was telling me how he thought he saw us in the webcam when my daughter, grandmother and I were down in April. Oh how funny...I can't wait to razz him when he wakes up...

Does anyone know what was the date that Disney closed down the GO.COM web portal, I was thinking that maybe ther was a connection between shuting down the portal and the discontinuation of the web cams. seem to me that it was about the same time. But I am not shure when the portal went down.

...I found the cameras produced a lousy image and God help us if it rained...maybe it was my eyes...but photos every 30 minutes just never impressed me but still interested me....
...wouldn't it be cool to have live streaming video from several locations throughout the parks...hell, if they can do it in a college dorm room for o, Disney surely can do it!:lookaroun

LOL...how about streaming video that YOU can control! Think about it...you could move the camera around with your mouse and it would all be in live streaming video...Sound cool?

How might that work with lots of people trying to control the camera at the same time?

There is a web cam setup for this in Downtown Sydney Austraila...I dont have the link though...its been soooo long since I have even talked to my friends in Sydney...anywhoo....you take turns on this Sydney cam...you get like 60 seconds..then it cuts you off and some one else gets to play with it....but you still get to watch...you just loose control after your 60sec. of play time :)

I did check out the MGM camera about three weeks ago. The "box" still appears to be there but I can't say if the camera is still in it or not. Sorry.

I loved the camera vantage point in Epcot from The American Adventure when Spaceship Earth had the 2000 on it. :)
