24 Hour Diner...good idea?

I was thinking, how cool would it be if Disney had a 24 Hour Diner somewhere on the property. Maybe near Downtown Disney...they could really theme it up, have it look like one of the classic ones with lots of crome, shaped like an old train car, and a classic juke box.
Night owls and insomniacs could go there for a cup of coffee and eggs, maybe read a paper and chat with the soda jerk and we could finally have a place that made a REAL good burger(see recent topic on this forum).


Ok, I am just totally throwing this one out there, and hey you never know maybe Disney will steal it!

I think that's a really great idea and practical, too. We have a diner about 10 miles from me - it's not 24 hours, but it is very themed with a TON of chrome and pink flamingoes....it is just fantastic.

I'd love to see that on Disney property.

That would be a great idea. I think I would like some decorations with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, etc, with a 1950's theme.

After a long day and after the night parade when the park closes, it would be a nice place to grab some food. Then some rest. :snore:

Yes, that's a good idea, classic disney theming! I wonder if there are any movies from the Disney Studios that featured a diner...I can't think of any

I'm near Atlantic City so cheesesteaks and diners are second nature!

I'm trying to think if any Disney movies have diner-like ideas.

I would love a chrome, flourescent lighting type, with a big clock outside and I'm seeing a big goofy statue with a paper triangular hat carrying a tray.

One year a Disney store sold figurines and kitchen ware with a 50's theme. Mickey looked like he was in Grease and Minnie wore a poodle skirt. I think that is what's in my head as far as a diner.:sohappy:

Why would you want one on Disney ??? There are a multitude of dining facilities across WDW open from early morning until late at night, I can't see a market for a 24hr eatery

This seems like a perfect addition to the "Flamingo Crossing" project, don't you think? It seems like it will be rather Mall-like - and if the vast numbers of conglomerated hotel rooms are built, it seems like critical mass for this type of establishment.

I The 24 hour diners are a somewhat unique piece of Americana and I would love to see one done with Disney flair. Here is a great article on the subject.

Diners actually are usually a stand alone thing, and I really don't associate them with malls at all, as I have never seen one in a mall or even a malls parking lot. I kinda thought a roadside diner look would be a unique place.

I think the only problem with a 24 hour eatery on property would be transportation. Unless buses ran 24 hours a day as well, people couldn't get there without a cab, rental car, or their own personal car.

There's a Silver Diner inside Lake Forest Mall in Gaithersburg, MD. Yes, it is weird. Stand alone is better.

The US pavilion at Epcot would be a great place for a diner like that, although 24 hours obviously isn't practical.

Great idea! I always wished the The America pavilion had a table service restaurant like all of the other pavilions. Epcot has visitors from all over the world. All the America pavilion offers are burgers and hot dogs and I would love to see some old-fashioned American food.

I guess repeating the Liberty Tree Tavern wouldn't be good either.

I have to think about this. This could be a tread.

While I would love there to be a real diner at WDW, there are a number of problems / requirements

1) REAL coffee - not Nescafe

2) Disco Fries - if you don't know what they are, come see me in NJ

3) Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese on a hard roll. If you don't know what Taylor Ham is, come see me in NJ

4) Real bagels - not that round bread they now serve


However, I have a feeling such a place would be too crowded. I am not used to waiting for a table at a diner. A diner in WDW would required ADR's, except maybe in the wee hours of the morning.

Definitely! Only when I order disco fries I like the brown gravy on the side and sometimes I like waffle over regular fries.

When I read through the thread it is so obvious that us Jerseyans love our diners!
