- Georgia looks better now....why can't they beat Bama?
- Boogie man needs 1 more loss to be gone....next week Missouri, with LSU in 3 weeks.
- Texas needs to win out and look respectable in SEC Championship
- LSU, A&M, Missouri, Tennessee control their own destiny....

- Vandy....yes VANDY is in if they win out!

If Navy and Army beat upcoming Fighting Irish and possibly both go undefeated I wonder if the committee will consider them in the playoffs or destined to the Citrus, Cotton etc bowl?

Your guess is as good as mine. Which is the ENTIRE problem.
UCF coached by Frost a few years ago went undefeated even in their bowl game beating Auburn and was snubbed by the committee. UCF said screw them and put up their own sign - UCF National Champions

Either could get an automatic bid if they win the AAC. They’d need to win the Conference Championship AND be ranked ahead of Boise State…..

Even if Boise, BYU or whoever wins the Mountain West is ranked ahead of them, they could still get an at large bid….

Watch the “Bottom 25” or those Ranked 15-25 in the coming weeks….that will be a tell of positioning for the Last At Large slots.

Football just isn’t the same anymore. This is just making it worse.
Practices back in the day was full contact during the week on a regular basis to toughen the team up prior to Sat. Nowadays it is limited hitting during the week. Are the players when getting tackled on game day not used to the violent world of football?

Fair point. I wish we had answers. The sport is going to crap, fast.

So your argument is not subjecting players to head trauma during practices is resulting in the head trauma during a game being worse? That's, um, not how brain injuries work? Your brain doesn't "Toughen up." In fact, your chances of brain injuries rises based on prior brain injuries.

Let me also stress how dumb this 12 team playoff is. Alabama has absolutely no right to be in a playoff. Less than no right. Neither does Georgia for that matter after they put SEC refs in a non-conference game who 100% did what they could to make sure they snuck out a win over Georgia Tech. And to be honest Ohio State really has no business competing for a title either. Your regular season should matter. But, NCAA is almost as corrupt as FIFA, so here we are.

And that’s why some players are getting injured more because of the strong hits in the game while during practice there is little to no hitting . I grew up back in the day where practices were tougher than games and it surely prepared you physically and mentally to beat your opponent. During the summer it was double and at times triple sessions to gear up for the season. Times have changed.

You grew up in a time with no internet and therefore injuries and deaths were not widely reported. Just because you don't understand the science does not mean you should make ridiculous generalizations. This happens WAY too often by generations looking back at their time. You can't toughen a brain up. It's a ridiculous statement. For reference, data from the National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury. Note that low and behold, you are completely WRONG in your assertation that "toughening up" was so much better.

I would agree with you that hits to the head are not good but look at the way we prepare ones for battle ( ie military ) the boot camp , plebe year at the service academies are much more different from the rough and tough back in the day rites of passage. When I heard about football and soccer summer conditioning eliminating double sessions for a number of schools what the heck is that?. We have gotten easier over the years.

So, just going to ignore the deaths have decreased now? Also ridiculous to use "Gotten easier" as a synonym for "Listening to the science and medical recommendations". It's not about being soft or easy, it's about understanding the changes in the world and our understanding of peak performance. Go read the science on why they limit practices for yourself. Go read what doctors from the 80s/90s who were employed by teams have to say. We have a much better understanding of the brain along with other injuries, medications, and how to perform at your absolute best. Please stop with the nonsense of "Back in my day, we had hard practices all the time and it made us tougher." It's not true, you just didn't get the coverage. Commenting after a kid died on the field from a head injury like he should have "Toughened up in practice" for it is not just the height on insensitivity, not to mention it is demonstrably wrong.

Limiting practices , training etc compared to back in the day - reality bites - we’ve gotten soft.

A friend of a friend who watched the practices told him so.
