Thought it could never happened. A few hundred student protectors staged a sit in on the 50 yard line at half time during this past weekend Harvard/Yale game to protest climate change. Several arrested and game delayed for almost an hour.

What to make of the upcoming CFP Ranking?

Last week Okie was behind PSU and both Pac 12 Teams.....giving them little shot to pass either.

Now PSU and Oregon have lost.....and the Oregon loss should hurt Utah as the Pac 12 Championship will not have the luster of 2 Top 10 teams.

Teams that can win out and are in:
OSU
LSU
Clemson
Georgia* - the CFP Final 4 could include BOTH Georgia and LSU in the 3 & 4 spots ..... no telling which order
Minnesota* - Win out, LSU Undefeated, would get you in for sure

*Do have to point out this COULD be really tricky in BOTH Georgia AND Minnesota win out, especially if they beat Undefeated OSU and LSU......The problem would be Clemson would take one of the spots, leaving only 3 spots for Georgia, OSU, Minnesota, and LSU. Someone would not go........

Win out and need help:
Bama - Beat Auburn (far from a sure thing), LSU Undefeated, OSU Undefeated, CFP is CFP
Utah - Win out, LSU Undefeated, Auburn wins Iron Bowl, OSU Undefeated
Oklahoma - Win Out, LSU Undefeated, Auburn Wins Iron Bowl, Oregon Pac 12 Champion, OSU Undefeated

Sounds like it was "prearranged/planned" as no way those peeps could have made it on the field......

You’re being fooled by looking at the final score. You wouldn’t be able to say the same if you watched the game or looked at the stats.

It was OSU’s weakest performance, and their stats still dominated the opposition.
One quarter, a couple of mistakes are what allowed Penn State to score, at no point was PSU ever ahead. Outside of the 3rd quarter they never even had a chance to catch up, and even in that quarter they were answered quickly.

I watched the game, and no, they definitely didn’t look dominant. They won a game against a good but largely overrated PSU team, and confirmed to the country what we already knew: there is a clear gap between 1 and 2. LSU is head and shoulders the best team in the country, and it isn’t close, which sucks, because I hate LSU and think their fanbase is pure trash.

This was OSU’s first real test, and they got a bit of pushback. That’s what happens when any team finally plays a good team. Don’t take such offense.

Also, don’t assume I didn’t watch the game. I watched OSU/PSU, Georgia/Aggie, Baylor/Texas, LSU/Arkansas, Oregon/Arizona State, Oklahoma/TCU, and Utah/Arizona. There is a less-than-zero percent chance I don’t watch and didn’t more about football, on both collegiate and professional levels, than you, so don’t play your whole “you’re misinformed” schtick. Like there’s a snowball’s chance in hell I didn’t watch a top 10 battle this week.

against the closest to a real team you've faced this year

The game wasn’t a mess though, they were never at risk. The qb made a couple of mistakes, defense was stellar as always. I think reading too much into the turnovers is shortsighted. Double digit win, one quarter that needs to be looked at and made sure that the same mistakes don’t happen again.
The rest of the stats speak for themselves.

I’m not over confident with Michigan though.. I should be, but that game is always a wild card.. even though I can’t even remember the last time Michigan won. Still, it’s on their turf, and they want it badly. Can’t afford any mistakes in that game.

Slate for tomorrow:

12:00
Georgia @ Georgia Tech - Could be the 1st of 3 games Georgia will play in Downtown Atl?
Ohio State @ Michigan - Should be a chance for upset......we say this every year
Clemson @ South Carolina - Coots have played well in big games....but I don't see it here
Virginia @ Virginia Tech - Commonwealth Cup and who goes to Charlotte......

3:30
Bama @ Auburn - Plainsmen can end Bama's season....and help the Committee avoid tough choice(s)
Minnesota @ Wisconsin - Winner goes to Indianapolis
Penn State @ Rutgers - B1G deal as the B1G REALLYneeds another Top 10 team to keep top spot*

4:00
Oregon @ Oregon State - Loss by Oregon would hurt Utah

7:30
Utah @ Colorado - CFP has Utes back*

8:00
Oklahoma @ Oklahoma State - Seems Okie has no shot to make the CFP

*

CFP Committee appears to be stacking the Semis:

1) Ohio State #1
2) Slotting Utah, followed by Okie for #4

Bummer the CFP is being for to stack it like this......
- the past 4 years, only the ACC or SEC has even won a CFP game!
-How do we fix this?
- Maybe put the ACC/SEC head to head in the semis?
- This would also send Clemson and LSU out to the Fiesta and keep them out of the Peach......
- giving a B1G vs Pac 12 match-up?
- And thus, finally, guarantee another Conference a victory for the first time in 5 years?

Better hope Georgia doesn't beat LSU......wouldn't that be a dilemma for having Ohio State #1? #4 would be either Georgia or LSU...where would Ohio Sate choose to play either of those? The Peach in Atlanta?

The bolded segment is short-sided and problematic.

Let‘s look at the top 10:

1) OSU
2) LSU
3) Clemson
4) Georgia
5) Alabama
6) Utah
7) OU
8) Minnesota
9) Baylor
10) Penn State

Firstly, Penn State has 2 losses. They’re out. 9 remaining.

Second, using Vegas odds and likelihood, the top 3 will likely remain unchanged. Let’s remove doomsday scenarios, and just assume there’s one spot remaining. That brings it to a 5 team race: Georgia, Alabama, Utah, and Oklahoma, and Minnesota.

OSU would play either Minnesota or Penn State in the B1G Championship game. If they play Penn State, that means Minnesota has 2 losses, same as Penn State. They’re out. And OSU would beat both. Minnesota is out. It’s now a 4 team race for the #4 spot.

Let’s tackle the SEC next. The SEC Championship game will be LSU vs. Georgia. Assuming likelihood scenarios again, LSU wins and gives Georgia their second loss. They’re out, so we now have three teams fighting for #4: Alabama, Utah, and Oklahoma.

The Big 12 Championship is simple, if Oklahoma does what they're heavily favored to do, they’re a 1 loss conference champion with four 10 25 wins. That will be a CFB committee point to discuss, undoubtedly.

The PAC 12 Championship is the intriguing one here. It‘s likely, if not already, going to be Utah and Oregon. I would imagine Utah will be favored, but the line will be close. If they win, that gives them literally their second top 25 win of the season. Same point as the previous paragraph. If they lose, and again, I think the line is going to be very close between Oregon and Utah, it’s down to Oklahoma and Alabama.

Alabama is the wild card. They will play Auburn, and if they beat Auburn, that is their first top 25 win. And they won’t play in the conference championship. Oklahoma will have 4x as many top 25 wins, a conference championship, and their starting quarterback. There’s a very clear argument that could be made, and very easily. The committee has proven in the past that they’re fine catapulting teams in the last week (the TCU/Baylor year).

Last point, assuming the top 3 maintain, only 3 reasonably possible outcomes are needed to damn near guarantee an Oklahoma playoff birth without much, if any, real controversy:

1) Oklahoma wins out
2) Oregon beats Utah
3) Auburn beats Alabama

This three point list is not related to my previous paragraphs, just another scenario to consider.

Of course, chaos can ensue and I wrote this post for nothing.

Well done

- My “Okie seems to have no shot” was meant to be sarcastic and a slap to the CFP. If the Top 3 remains, I have an issue with Okie winning out, and having to have Utah and Bama lose. I can understand Georgia going in by winning the SEC Championship, and thus keeping Okie out.

P.S. Did you inadvertently substitute Penn State for Wisconsin in your B1G paragraph? Wisconsin beating Minnesota giving both 2 loses? Penn State is on the same side of the B1G as Ohio State....

Good game a couple weeks ago against WF to close out the home season. Offense played very well. Trevor had a good day passing, and Etienne had a good day rushing. And Tee Higgins went off on Wake’s DBs. Defense had a good day forcing turnovers and prevented Wake from creating any explosive plays. Overall, it was a good win and a good way for the seniors to go out at home. The Valley might be closed, but the season is far from over.

Should be a good one today against the trashy, classless Coots. Will be interested to see if their student section throws batteries and water bottles at us like they did the last time we played at the upside down cockroach. Both teams are coming off of byes, but the Coots are not going bowling for the first time in the Muschamp era, and the majority of the team has given up. On the other hand, we’re fired up and ready to kick @ss and kill. We’ve got a chance to win the state, which is our 3rd goal. Just need to stay focused and take care of business. It’s time to beat up little brother.

And a quick ACC update: UVA beat VT and clinched the Coastal, so we’ll be playing them next Saturday night in Charlotte.

Homie,

Can’t you muster up a little more passion for your in-State rival?

South Carolina beating Georgia earlier in the season was a freak occurrence but then again No. 1 Duke lost to Stephen F Austin at Duke in one of the biggest upsets in NCAA B-ball recently.

For Georgia to win tha big un, they’ll have to split with teams from South Carolina....

I could, but I got a little too passionate last year, so I promised myself that I'd turn it down just a smidge. I could say a whole lot more about the Coots, but I'd like to remain as a member here, so I shall refrain. ;)
Heard that.....

WWIK 98.9 has some REAL passion.....especially the weekday 3:00 Bobby Hart show.....i don't see how some of the comments make on air

I see Okie has beaten Baylor, Iowa State, and if they win out they will have beaten Okie State and Baylor (again). So that would be 4 Top 25 wins.

Okie is lucky Clemson or Bama didn't play Iowa State as they would NOT be ranked now, even if with their current record.

The bottom 15 of the Top 25 is littered with teams from the other three weak conferences and is designed to help the weak conference's strength of schedule.

Clemson screwed Bama this year by playing A&M. The bottom 15 had Texas in with 3 losses, but kept A&M out (thus not giving Clemson or Bama a Top 25 win). A&M should not be in the Top 25 now as they have 4 losses.....but Iowa State is Magically at #23 with 4 losses.....and Okie State WILL STAY ranked with 4 losses (if they lose to Okie today)...and it wouldn't surprise me to see Texas re-enter the bottom 15.....

Clemson was a national darling when they began to beat Bama, but now they are being seen as just another Southern Team.....only getting love when they play Bama......the hatred for Clemson is gaining steam.....

Yes, compared to Alabama’s potential 1.

4 x 1 = 4.

I don’t really know where you’re going with this. My argument was exclusively regarding Alabama. Clemson making the CFP, assuming no catastrophic loss, is a foregone conclusion that we just have to accept.
