AP and Coaches Poll
1) Bama
2) Clemson
3) Notre Dame
4) Georgia
5) Oklahoma
6) Ohio State

So, if we assume 1 -3 win....here is the breakdown of Okie and OSU

Points (AP/Coaches respectively)
Oklahoma - Strength of Schedule 37 -Rank - 5 - Top 25 Wins 2 (#15 West Virginia/#24 Iowa State) Points (AP/Coaches) 1266/1324
Ohio State - Strength of Schedule 34 -Rank - 6 - Top 25 Wins 2 (#8 Michigan/#13 Penn State) Points (AP/Coaches) 1229/1292

Additional Consideration:

Ohio State's Top 25 victories - Penn State was #9 at the time, and Michigan was #4
Oklahoma - West Virginia was ranked #8 at the time, Iowa State wasn't ranked at the time, and quite frankly the only reason they are ranked now is to benefit Okie

The Committee insist they only look at the final rankings, not the ranking at the time of victory

So, the candidates for #4

If Bama Wins SEC Championship
Oklahoma
Ohio State

The drama would be if Georgia were to narrowly beat Bama in the SEC Championship!

One thing no one is considering: For those who think the Committee would choose to keep Bama (if they lose to Georgia) in the Playoff, they would probably only drop to #3, as dropping them to #4 for be a cruel punishment to Clemson (AGAIN).

Good game last Saturday night against the coots. 5 in a row! Offensively, that was the best game that we have played so far this season. Great game running and passing the ball. I think we had over 750yds of total offense. Trevor threw close to 400yds and all our RBs played very well. The OL also played great. Defense on the other hand was a mess, but we were able to make some good plays including two 4th and goal stops inside the 5yd line. Our LBs need to read better and our secondary needs to make some adjustments. Overall, good game and a good win. Nothing like beating your rivals!

Can’t believe the regular season is over! It went by so fast!

Should be a good one tomorrow night in Charlotte. We have a chance to win the ACC for the 4th year in a row and get some revenge on Pittsburgh. Just need to stay focused and take care of business.

Win and IN....that simple.

Don't overlook Notre Dame, as they are a bit better than most seem to think!

Today......

Big 12 Championship
Texas leading 7-3 with 5 mins left in 1st quarter
Okie is routing for Bama AND Northwestern

4:00
SEC Championship
Not convinced Bama is in if they lose

8:00
Big Ten
Ohio State is routing for Bama, and needs to win big

ACC
Clemson should have no problem here, unless they pull a "Clemson"....and wouldn't things be SO much more interesting if Notre Dame was REALLY in the ACC,,,and played Clemson today? Can't knock Notre Dame (can't stand um either), as they have the power to dictate their own ticket!

Looks like Alabama went into the Patriots playbook of making sure they don't get called for blatent pass interference at the goal line.

Heard that.......Blatant horse collar on Georgia tackling Bama's 2nd rate QB......Bama isn't any good....weren't last year either....and that fake punt....Could Justin Fields have telegraphed it anymore than he did?

Little tidbit for you.....Saban and Belichick have NEVER won the big one in the same Season/Year

So, #1 and #2 are obvious....what about #3 and #4?

Notre Dame is in, but are they #3?

It would seem 1 - 3 would remain the same, with Oklahoma #4....if that happens would Bama choose the Orange Bowl instead of Cotton and it's close proximity to Oklahoma?

Herbstreet is saying Georgia #3 and Notre Dame dropping to #4....

What's your thoughts?

It is what it is now. Playoff set. ND should have dropped in my opinion, but it is what it is either way.
Just wonder how bad Ohio State will look moving forward....eventually it will be revealed the University knew way back in 2015......and tried to make it look like Urban never told them

Some CFP historical numbers:

#1 Seed is 2-4 = .33 Winning Percentage = 33% and has NEVER won the big one!
#2 Seed is 5-2 = .71 Winning Percentage = 71% and has won 2 Championships!
#3 Seed is 1-4 = .20 Winning Percentage = 20% and has NEVER won the big one!
#4 Seed is 4-2 = .67 Winning Percentage = 67% and has won 2 Championships!

Breakdown by round:

1st Round
#1 Seed has a 2-2 record
#2 Seed has a 3-1 record - only last year's Oklahoma lost as a #2 Seed
#3 Seed has a 1-3 record - only last year's Georgia won as a #3 Seed
#4 Seed has a 2-2 Record - #4 Ohio State upset Bama in 2014, #4 Bama beat Clemson in 2017

Championship Game
#1 Seed is 0-2!! 2015 #1 Clemson lost to #2 Bama, 2016 #1 Bama lost to #2 Clemson
#2 Seed is 2-1 2014 #2 Oregon lost to #4 Ohio State, as noted above, 2015 Bama and 2016 Clemson won as #2 Seeds
#3 Seed is 0-1 2017 #3 Georgia lost to #4 Bama...Georgia being the ONLY #3 seed to win in first round and advance to Championship
#4 Seed is 2-0 and undefeated! Noted above 2014 #4 Ohio State beat #2 Oregon; 2017 #4 Bama beta #3 Georgia

Conferences
ACC is 3-3 overall and 1-1 in Championship with 2016 Champion Clemson (2015 Clemson loss)
BIG 10 is 2-2 overall and 1-0 in Championship with 2014 Champion Ohio State
BIG 12 is 0-2 overall with no appearance in the Championship
PAC 10 is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in Championship (2014 Oregon loss)
SEC is 5-3 overall and 2-2 in Championship with 2015/2017 Champion Bama (2016 Bama loss, 2017 Georgia loss)

Strange but true:
- You want to be wearing White in the Championship Game!
- The "underdog" (lowest remaining seed) has won all four Championship Games!
- Only Even number seed (#2 and #4) has won the Big one!
- Only Clemson won the Championship with its opening day starter
- Higher Seed "favorites" are 5-7 overall, 5-3 in first round and 0-4 in the Championship!!
- You don't want to be #1 in the CFP ranking as no team has won the Big One!

If we're going with the #1 seed can't win the big one theory...then Alabama is screwed, lol.
That's what history holds

And more history on #1 not winning the Big One.....no team ranked #1 in the INITIAL CFP ranking has ever one the Big One Either!

Initial Poll:

2014 - Mississippi State followed by Florida State (Lost in 1st round), Auburn, and Mississippi- Eventual Champ Ohio State #16
2015 - Clemson followed by LSU, Ohio State, and Alabama - Eventual Champ #4 Alabama
2016 - Alabama followed by Clemson, Michigan, and Texas A&M - Eventual Champion Clemson
2017 - Georgia followed by Alabama, Notre Dame, and Clemson - Eventual Champion Alabama

Another note on Bama and the quest to buck history - we have yet to see an Undefeated CFP Champion

Yeah, still it’s a waiting game at this point. I’m not sure anymore will be done in the long run.

Good game last Saturday night against Pitt. 4 consecutive ACC Championships! Thought we played very well in such sloppy conditions. Another monster game for Travis, and Trevor did well through the air. Defense did a good job forcing turnovers and allowed Pitt to only 8 passing yards. Overall, great win, and I’m so proud of our guys.

Excited to be playing in the Cotton Bowl. Our first bowl win in program history, which happened to be our first bowl appearance in program history, was actually in the Cotton Bowl back on January 1, 1940. Should be a good one against the fighting Lou Hol... I mean Catholics. Time to get dialed in and focus on taking care of business.
