I just noticed the NFL thread....I could talk college football all day...I could not give a rat's pattootie about pro ball.

When money is more important than the game, then ...GAME OVER.

Auburn fan here...but no matter what the University of Alabama does this year, they could go 10 and 0, they have no chance of another championship.

You have to play teams that are ranked, and right now thay are playing 2 teams that are even in the top ranked 25. (Of course this will change, but still that would mean that these unranked schools would have to play, and win, against other teams that are ranked and winning.)

I hate this rating system.

Why would a championship team schedule a weak opponent schedule?

I blame MEG!
Homie, I need to point out only 1/3 of the BCS ranking is computer (Sarigrin average of 6 computer rankings), the other 2/3 are Human Polls (Harris, USA Today Coaches Poll).
The rankings used to lean more heavily to the computers, but that changed in 2003 when an undefeated #1 ranked Oklahoma lost the Big 12 championship to Kansas State and STILL were ranked ahead of a 1 loss USC and thus played 1 loss Saban led LSU for the BCS Championship. LSU beat Oklahoma, and USC beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl leading to a split National Champion; this was supposed to be impossible when the BCS was created.

The issue I have with the BCS is the teams ranked 10-25. Those teams all seem to be Pac 10(16?) and Big 12. By keeping that many teams in those conferences ranked so high it benefits the teams from the same conferences ranked in the Top 10 (See Kansas State last year). That is the reason Oklahoma always seemed to be ranked soooo high and in the running for the BCS Title game.

So, you are predicted the Crystal Ball will actually leave the State of Alabama? Everyone points out the SEC has won 7 in a row, but fail to realize the last 4 have been from the STATE of Alabama.

I would LOVE for the championship to come back to it's rightful spot at AUBURN.

That would keep the crystal ball in Alabama for five years. I just don't see UofA having a shot this year.

Remember that most Auburn fans hate the BCS system because of the 2004 debacle when USC took the championship away from undefeated Auburn by a point vote and then USC’s title was vacated as part of a series of punishments for NCAA violations.

Bitter much? nah....:devilish:

Amen! Everyone's all "OMG NFL!!!1!" today and I'm like... Uh, good football was yesterday." :p

Teams that rely on all offense or all defense usually don't fair well. Look at what's happened to Florida. A stellar defense can't make up for that inept offense.
That's right

Nice to see you're at peace with it :banghead: Doubt Bama will be back in either...probably 2 losses....Let's see if A & M is real, and even if they are they're still only branch kin for awhile. Do the puppies from the East have a shot? LSU and Florida are the obvious roadblocks and the problem is they HAVE to win out to have a shot at the BCS title game...

Who do you have Bama losing to? They almost have to lose TWICE not to be in the hunt? Ummm...who else besides Auburn to you have them losing to homie?

^ My guess is LSU or A&M. If A&M beats Bama this weekend, then I can see LSU doing the same. I still think Bama is the best all-around in the SEC, but they looked a little suspect against VaTech.

Sept 14 SEC Pick 'ems:
Louisville over Kentucky
Arky over Southern Miss
Oregon over Tennessee (although I wouldn't mind an upset)
Alabama over TA&M
Auburn over Miss St
SCar over Vandy
LSU over Kent St
Ole Miss over Texas (still unsure on this one, but after Texas' performance last week I'm going with the Rebs)

Other games of note:
UCLA over Nebraska
Wisconsin over Ariz State
OSU over Cal

Agreed....not trying to be silly here, but Bama's defense wasn't great last year...and they lost a lot of pieces to the NFL. OL was depleted as well. Really don't thing Saban loses to A & M in consecutive years..

Those two INTs really hurt Manziel. But for 'Bama, they certainly answered doubts about their offense considering how poor they were against Va Tech. If 'Bama can get by Ole Miss, LSU, they should have no problems for a possible three peat. On a different note, talk about a scare for Michigan. They almost to Akron. If Gardner keeps turning the ball over like that, it's going to cost Michigan at some point.

Auburn really pulled it off this week...that game had the best last 15 seconds ever.

I will never understand ANYONE leaving a game early to "beat the crowd" ...especially at the price of game tickets now.
