I recently saw the trailer for Roland Emerrich's 2012, starring John Cusack and Thandie Newton. Is anyone else excited for this?

I am looking forward to it but I would not really call it excited. I am expecting it to be like most modern day disaster movies that are low on story and high on special effects. Enjoyable but forgettable.

What I am excited about is watching all the freaky freaky types that are fully convinced that the world will end on 12/21/12. I think it is going to be like Y2K squared.

I don't think the wolrd will end in 2012, I see a sort of new beginning.

As for the movie, eh, I hated Emmerich's 10,000 BC and I can only suppose that this will be the typical parade of famous landmarks being destroyed.

Never heard of it. Is it worth reading or should I wait for the movie? Is it a world destroys itself, man destroys the world, nature destroys man, or man tries to destroy nature, but nature does a rope a dope and beats the snot out of man type thing?

Just scroll through the comments on that Youtube link. How people like that are able to even function is beyond me. What is even funnier is that many of the signs and whatnot that these doomsayers are pointing to are not even correct. Here is a great article and podcast on the "reality" of 2012. I have not personally fact checked it but I have found this guy to be pretty right on.
